I've watched all of anime and red all books. Anime is ommiting a lot of important details, and even whole plots, that are important later. If you want just yuri LN then it's not yuri, but if you want really emotional slice of life in high-class school, and if you want to understand where a lot of yuri/high-class school tropes came from, then I can really recomend going for it. Just expect friendship instead of romance.
