Why does the mc not use his name?

In the anime, makoto misumi changes his name to kuzunoha. Is it explained in the anime?

He uses kuzonoha because he doesn't want to be found by the Goddess, iirc.

yeah, and she did find him in the 1st season, so that plan kinda failed, but as I said, I'm not sure

She only found him when he used a teleport, presumably because they're governed by the Goddess in some capacity. For the same reason, Makoto and Shiki chose to travel on foot after that, as to not get her attention. I imagine the Goddess is not omniscient and omnipotent and can't just know whatever is happening in the world.

He didn't want to be found by the goddess. As far as we know she isn't omnipotent, nor do we know what she's thinking. She did find him in S1 probably because they tried to teleport. He did have his rings on, so she probably doesn't know how strong he is and just threw him there to kill him off because she thinks he's ugly as shit. Or mistook him for a hero.

@DarkXion The Goddess didn't mistake Makoto for a hero. When she found him, she said "Found you" and teleported him whether he wanted to be or not. The Goddess forced Makoto into the fight.
