For the raws, VK. Yeah, the raws are there, of all places. Someone else posted the URL, but it shouldn't be hard to find them on Google as well. For subtitling, I'm using Whisper paired with aadnk's "Faster-Whisper-WebUI", which can churn through each episode in less than 6 minutes, not including yt-dlp retrieval time. The settings I'm using are Large-v2 for the model, Japanese for the language, transcribe, VAD Max merge Size 60, Initial Prompt "これは「巨人の星」という、ドラマティックな野球アニメです。主人公は星一徹の息子である星飛雄馬です。" (Without the quotes), Condition on previous text turned OFF, and Temperature increment on fallback at 0.1. Optionally, you can run the audio through something like Spleeter so that Whisper doesn't struggle as much discerning music from voices. I then ran the .srt chunk by chunk through ChatGPT, at just under 2048 tokens at a time, which seemingly works really well, much better than Whisper on it's own. Just remember that ChatGPT isn't meant for this, so use a tool like this to make sure each request is under 2048 tokens, that way you don't end up wasting time chopping off bit by bit of the request until it sends, or end up facing incomplete generations. Note the way I asked for each translation, as well as my pre-prompt for Whisper, mentioning (In Japanese, thanks ChatGPT) the name of the anime, the genre, and the main character's name, plus the father's name.

This is my personal Colab notebook I'm using for all of this. It has a few goodies that the normal notebook doesn't have, like Spleeter (Which sadly I can't figure out how to integrate into the WebUI, but I've streamlined as much as possible), and also a local webserver, since the WebUI stupidly doesn't allow local file paths. Here are the subs I generated for this episode, made without Spleeter, made using the VK hosted raws, in .ass format. Just go to the page, save as a .ass file, and make sure your video player of choice knows where it is.

Here we go, episode two, "The Devil's Pitch" 『悪魔のギブス』, first one to make a forum post for episodes past EP 1. Shit, only two episodes in, and we already have the MC in restraints.

Huma walking into Hanagata's car the moment they meet, well, it felt unnaturally quick. Like jeeze, talk about throwing out the common knowledge of "Don't take rides from complete strangers, kiddo".

Him stopping that minecart was fuckin' tense, even if the outcome was a fair bit predictable, though the scene between Huma and his father was nice.

Still not sure if I'll keep watching much more of the series or not, but for every episode I do watch, I'll be dropping the Whisper+ChatGPT subs in that spoiler section. Flawed as they are, they're the best option for watching this anime at the moment.
