Would you consider Josee to be one of your favourite Anime movies?

I'm curious if most people who have seen this consider it a favourite of theirs. I watched this last year and I greatly enjoyed it. I'd say it's one of my top 10 favourite Anime films now.

What do you think? Even if you answer with a no, you still perhaps really enjoyed it, just not enough to call it a favourite. If you didn't enjoy it, I'd be curious to know why, as we all have differing opinions.

Did you watch it all the way through to the end and even through the credits? A lot of people missed the last scenes because they ended it as soon as some credits rolled in and didn't wait it out.

It can help you when you feel lonely or depressed at same time. Quite a movie BONES had made. But from deep of my heart I wish I could see these type of characters and couples forever. Cause they have their own flavour of season.

I really enjoyed the anime but TBH i feel like it's really forgettable, cuz i think the ending doesn't have a strong feeling to it. It was just too much predictable... a 7/10 from me.

I definitely hard disagree with a lot of people, I did not enjoy this movie. That’s just my opinion, but I found Josee to be incredibly spoiled and had almost no development, and any development she did have was undone immediately upon meeting the woman at the surf shop that liked the MC. MC was decent, driven guy, had goals, other characters were fun, animation was great, but Josee just was a stinky cloud that made the movie so much less enjoyable. I was excited to watch it too, saw it in theater after countless ads online came up. But again that’s just me and my thoughts

It's definitely worth it. I was upset about how I thought it ended too until someone told me to watch it all the way through, lol.

It did feel similar to silent voice in various aspects

Although a bit comical at times, as expected of anime, Josee is a well developed protagonist alongside Tsuneo, as well as their relationship together. We see why she is so childish yet hostile, later seeing her grow into a more confident young adult as she learns what the world is like, both the good and the bad within it.

Watching this movie felt to me like I was watching people properly fall in love, as not only do they have a shared ineterest, that being the ocean amd everything within it, but they opened up to each other when they didn't have to and pushed each other to be stronger and confident in themselves.

Now take this part with a grain of salt because I am not disabled, but I loved how this movie depicted the struggles of disabled people, it did not depict them in a way where the audience pitied them but in a way where we understand the issues that Josee has to face as a young disabled woman, such as when she had decide between career path that she wanted versus one that would properly support her.

I will say however that I did not appreciate how Mai, Tsuneo's co-worker, was the romantic rival who was always vying for the male lead's attention when she was on screen, with her being very antagonistic towards Josee all the while. I just do not understand why the creators would want to create superficial conflicts with such a 'pick-me' type character, especially between 2 female characters.

I would have appreciated if Mai was less cartoonishly hostile, and more of a more nuanced character where she was a relatively open person, but because of her jealousy she let her biases show later coming to realise how ignorant her actions were and trying to connect with Josee as a way for her truly understand both Josee's struggles and why Tsuneo loves her. idk I just wish Mai's character wasn't so orientated around a male character who doesn't give a shit about her lol.

also, I fucking love Hayato dude was like the coolest and sweetest guy in the movie, but I don't understand why he would choose mai of all people.

tbh, i looked forward to this movie so much and was super hyped for it because of the Eve song. but I was super let down, idk i think it’s just what I personally tend to like, but I think it skipped past what is usually my favorite part in these movies, the getting to know and really understand each other. I think they did the same thing as a couple that also let me down, which is put it in a montage. I love the visuals tho, very good and pretty art style. I also thought the romance was cute, I just wanted to see more of it. My genuine favorite is Koe no Katachi. all personal opinions so if you dissagree and are angry then stay mad nerd

Curious, since the original story was written in 1984, so it’s impossible for it to be a ‘Silent Voice wannabe’ Formulaic sure, that’s a fair opinion

The scene i remember most was the one in the library where Josee was reading her storybook to the children. Imo, all growth as a character can be seen right there. Id have to watch it again to fully elaborate on its significance, but I really liked her character development personally as she was inspired by MC to achieve her dream. AND. used her dream to inspire him back once he was about to give up. It was powerful to me, but it’s subjective of course
