DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- The final against the vampire was good, I really thought that Ryunosuke was dead with Ranran but obviously he reappeared at the end xD well now let's hope that he married Kaoru, it would be perfect. |

| The final battle. We see all the characters again and get a conciliatory ending. And let's be honest – the second Ryonosuke was pulled into the depths with RanRan, it was clear he'd resurface a few minutes later. I wouldn't have started this anime if the one and only Rumiko Takahashi hadn't happened to be responsible for the character design. And that sums it up pretty well. There were nice references to Takahashi's other works. Yuko Kondou design seems like a prototype-version of Yashahime's Moroha, Toshi Hijikata looks like a female Sesshoumarou and Nekomaru is literaly Maomōrin from the Ranma-series.😅 I was suprised that the mecha-aspect, which was driven out very largely in the OVA-series, is almost completely missing in the 13-episode-series version, which focused more on slapstick, but that's okay too. All in all, a nice series. The whole Meiji romance in particular creates a nice atmosphere. However, I'm afraid I'll already have forgotten half the episodes by next week. It somehow lacks that certain "killer instinct" to stand out. It seems as if a lot of things, but not everything, Rumiko Takahashi touches automatically turns to gold. Urusei Yatsura, Maison Ikkoku, Ranma ni-bun-no ichi, Mermaid Saga, One-Pound Gospel, Rumic World Theater, and Inuyasha were Champions League. Each a masterpiece in its own right, "Kideou Shinsengumi Moeyo Kendou" is more like a district league. Now its time to check out Takahashi's subsequent project "Kyokai no rinne". |
