This was a cute episode. There's nothing quite like a lovely night spent huddled round some cheap home fireworks with a friend.

Poor Iron Rod Sensei, Shunsuke is just limitless in his capacity for mischief and a liberal interpretation of the truth! Imagine if his boss found out he'd let a student leave the dormitory completely unattended while allegedly unexploded fireworks go off at random.... Iron Rod Sensei would be plain old Iron Rod before he could even think about reaching for his belt.

Nowadays though it'd be giving the lift that would get him the sack lol

"You're not looking, please, it's SO AWESOME LOOK AT HOW SPINNY IT IS!!!!"

So after I caught up with all that released of Dr. Slump subbed early last year I planned on making this my new "weekly retro" show for awhile. I like to have at least one per season if possible, and I watched the first 5 episodes of this several years back. At the time, those were the only episodes I could find subbed so I had to put this on hold. But now I see there's another 40 or so episodes subbed after this. Assuming that's correct I plan to watch this weekly for most of the remainder of this year then. Hopefully the Dr. Slump subs will progress enough to get at least a cour's worth of episodes near the end of the year, but I'll save more on that for that show's discussion threads around November.

In preparation for resuming this series I actually went back and rewatched those first 5 episodes and I'm glad I did as I needed a refresher. I forgot just how big of a tsundere Shunsuke was. Hell, even in this episode he can't make up his mind about Eru. One minute he's having a "nightmare" of her coming onto him in her undies, but the next minute he's fantasizing about sleeping in the same futon as her. Dude needs to drop the act and start dating her officially already, but I won't hold my breath. One last thing: I love those freeze-frame gags of Shunsuke's. The ones where the entire image goes one color like the way this episode ends. I miss when anime used to do that, I remember it in Dragon Ball and Yu Yu Hakusho episodes back in the day. But I feel like it fell out of fashion sometime in the 90s or 00s, unless I'm just forgetting something. Okay, looking forward to giving more thoughts in the weeks and months ahead, assuming the subs remain readable and accessible. For some reason when I rewatched those first 5 episodes the subs on the first 2 were awful, but the rest have been much better quality.

I dunno that I'll use it as I never really download torrents, I don't even really know how honestly lol, but thanks for the recommendation.
