So, in this spin-off Ren already becomes captain of the kendo club, though he is just a second year (good job!). As one of the managers of the club Rino can observe more of him (she even secretly made a photo of him for her own selfish purposes).
The way Ren tricked Rino into a "date" was pretty funny.

P.S. I must admit Ren x Rino are one of my favorite couples. Even Akaiito’s Shou and Chihiro were not that sweet together. Rino is very shy, with low esteem, thus always thinking no guy could ever get interested in her. That is why it is so unrealistic to her that Ren could like her at all. And that is why the story is so slow-paced. For me personally, that is quiet normal and natural. What I like about Ren is that he is composed, does not speak nonsense and knows what he wants. He seems very steady and reliable. It is a pity he almost never smiles :)
