This manga starts as a cute romance shoujo then BAM..
*disclaimer: I have not read the parent story "Akaiito".
10-manbun no 1 jumps right into flirt and then developments into their relationship, which is a continuation from the parent story directly.

What I really enjoy are the true feelings and progression of awareness to her disease. The FMC essentially goes through the 5 stages of grief and has her family and friends supporting her throughout her diagnosis. She and her grandpa are in denial, citing that she's too young but there's a chance because ... of genes.
It truly makes you feels powerful and powerless at the same time.

Art: basic shoujo art, cutesy and fluffy, no issues
Story: good character development, some cliché stuff
Character: drama and some annoying background characters
Enjoyment: it started out great and then dragged a little

ALS is a deadly disease and sadly there is no cure

This manga got me crying every chapter, if you read Akai Ito and then this one, the main characters, Sakuragi Rino and Kiritani Ren will start to grow in you. In Akai Ito you can see Rino and Kiritani as a future couple and if you are like me, you will start shipping them.

When I started reading 10-manbun no 1 I wasn't expecting such a sad story, I just finished reading Akai Ito and I was sure both mangas would be the same genre and guess what, I was wrong.

Reasons I loved this manga:
+ Good character development
+ No annoying ... characters
+ Beautiful art

Some things I didn't like that much:
- The author seemed to forget Hinase and Chihiro (Akai Ito main characters) facial features. They look kind of different from the previous manga but it's not that much actually. Anyways, I think it was important to take in count.

Would I read again? YES, YES, YES. I'm planning to read this one again. There's a lot to learn from Rino and Ren. Both are really young but they are strong and brave, I admire that a lot.

I started this manga expecting something good and well? Was it? No.
I have read Akaiito and I remember I enjoyed it a lot more than this, at that time 10 manbun was still ongoing and I remember I was really looking forward to seeing any developments between Ren and Rino and so I was very eager to start reading this. A few days ago I checked up on it and I saw it was completed like a year ago so I immediately started reading it. The first few chapters were fine and i was looking forward to what was going to happen (even though it ... was pretty obvious), so they start going out and that is okay but then she suddenly started having problems with her movements and it turns out she has ALS (a disease of the nervous system- the one Stephen Hawking had although his was more progressive) anyway back to Rino, to be honest her having the disease made me very excited and I started having higher expectations because I like tragedy/romance combination. BUT things started going downhill very soon after. Things started to become boring. I was expecting more of a realistic demonstration of the life of a girl with ALS but it was just pink and rainbows and suddenly it’s just a mediocre shoujo again. It got dragged for too long too. And it felt like such a waste that we never got to see things get difficult. I tried so hard to feel anything but I couldn’t.
