Okay, I'm not asking anybody to remember they first song or nothing, but that was simple enough for the title and shit. Nah, what I'm asking is the first one that "hooked" you. The one that made you a fan. The first one you listened to so many times you learned the words to.

For me it was Eminem's "Hi! My name is..."

What about everybody else?

I think that was also my first song. I was very young back then when Eminem or Kim were on the news every day and my parents told me not to listen to his stuff.

Haha, yeah at the time I was about 10 in 5th grade. I remember me and my friend were on the playground one day and we both suddenly started reciting the lyrics together at the same time. :D It was awesome.

Even if his last album was a little weak, I still say Em's a great lyricist. (He should go back to rapping like he did on Infinite, though.)

I was in 7th or 8th grade and remember seeing his video on TV a lot. That was around the time when I got seriously interested in music.

On that note, Eminem said that on the new album, King Mathers, he wants to go back to his roots and rap more like he did on Infinite.

That one was never released as a track for the radio stations or as video for MTv here in Germany. Always feels like I'm missing out on a lot of things.

Uh. I have no idea what hooked me into hip-hop, though I've definitely been listening to it far longer then any other type of genre. The song that does stick out for me is probably:

The Real Slim Shady by Eminem. I know it wasn't my firsthip hop song, but it definitely has a strong stain in my memory.

Whoops. I was letting my mind wander the other day and it suddenly came to me that my first song was actually Warren G and Nate Dogg's Regulate. I was in 4th grade and I had that song stuck in my head. It was the first time (that I'd noticed) that a rap song had told a complete story, from beginning to end. So cool. :D

"I'm tweaking, into a whole new era/G-Funk, step to this, I dare ya/Funk, on a whole new level..."

"The Rhythm is the base and the base is the treble!!!"

It wasn't a specific song that played on the radio or anything. I became obsessed with Slick Rick in the 2nd grade. I would steal my sisters The Rulers Back tape all the time and she would be furious.

Lets see 2nd grade, I was 8 so... 1992.
