Hard to tell how often I'm able to find a BL manga that makes my heart go through all kind of different feelings. From happiness to concern, and vice versa.
Starting by the fact that the art is gorgeous, and how well romance was managed and developed in 5 volumes, I might have found one of the most beautiful stories ever. The last time I described a BL manga as 'beautiful' was when I finished Rutta to Kodama.
But this is different, I really liked how mature the main couple was. How realistic were their lives, and the ones around them. How Sakurai is an old man and a workaholic, and Youichi an stoic college guy who likes painting. They're so different (age and personality matters) yet they fell in love.
I really LOVED how deep and calm the atmosphere always was. How they digged into Youichi's parents past, and how he managed to understand them at the end and overcome his confusion. The slice of life elements were always present and it never got in the way of the main plot. That's good.
I wish I could read stories like this more often. It was a long and slow read, and it was totally worth it. 9/10

Sweet stuff. Main couple was super realistically portrayed.

Hmm, dang. I came in with really high expectations and it wasn't met enough. I'll go over things I didn't really like.

The huge cast of characters, I found kind of unecessary. Only the main two characters really had an impact here and were interesting to follow. I didn't even remember the names of the other three boys. I felt that their subplots were not necessary either as it could have been replaced by other situations for the same impact. The love triangle between the model and main pair felt out of place.

The "secret" or twist, I should say was thrown randomly at the end without much foreshadowing. I thought they should have brought it on earlier and not squeezed everything in the last chapter with 60 pages. The house selling conflict in the plot was kind of a drag and not very exciting to read about. If they wanted to make it a story about how important their residence was, it was not done very effectively.

Okay, things I liked.

Chemistry between main pairing was done very well. I am normally not a fan of huge age gaps because it feels like an old experienced guy and a little virgin kid. I mean, they kinda fit that but it felt extremely mature, realistic and natural. They were nice protagonists to follow. The lovey dovey scenes were great, especially both sex scenes. Like goddamn, so nice!

Overall mellow feeling had me enjoying this series. It's like something you read every so often but not crave each chapter. The flow was good.

The only question I have left is if Takeo knows they're dating? Because he talked to Fujimoto and saw the two arguing in the garden.
