My old motherboard died a week after getting some new parts for it (sometime around Janurary 3rd), and I had some extra money from christmas, so I decided to just get a new motherboard and processor.

The board that died just shut off on me, and whenever I tried to power it back on, it would only stay on for 4 seconds, then shut off.

I got one of these: http://www.foxconnchannel.com/EN-US/product/Motherboards/detail_overview.aspx?ID=en-gb0000173
Along with a Celeron Dual core (thinking it was a Celeron D), and found out it didnt work with that board, okay, that's understandable.

So I opted to get a Pentium 4 with HyperThreadding, because according to the manuafturer's site, it supports them, and I ordered a Pentium 4 3GHz 630 Processor with hyperthreadding.

The problem is, I got sent a 631 instead of a 630, and the only difference I can find between the two is that the 630 is made using a 90nm process, and the 631 is made with a 65nm process. But that doesn't work in the board I got either. I'm thinking about returning this processor because Its not what I ordered and it doesn't work; but I'm not sure if the board itself doesn't work either. With both processors I had before, the most it did was show the HDD activity light, but not the power light... so was wondering if that's just meaning the processor isn't compatible, or if the board itself is screwed up.

In either case, nothing shows up on my monitor when i have everything connected correctly, and I've tried 4 video cards (3 AGP and a PCI), and I know all of them worked, I also tried 3 working sets of RAM, as well as tried 2 different power supplies, so that's not the reason either.

Oh, and these are LGA 775 socket processors.

Did your processor come with a heatsink with a thermal pad on it?
You know you need either a thermal pad, or thermalpaste for a processor to work right?

It was OEM, but I got one anyway, and I made sure it was on properly; so that's not the problem.

How does it not work, do you get post screen, does the speaker tell you anything? Tried updating the BIOS, maybe support for the later CPU's came in an update.
