I watch a lot of anime but haven't had much time in the last 2 yrs.

I just started watching A Certain Magical Index cuz it looked awesome in an AMV but once again I'm disappointed in the main character.

I'm put off by the constant character boy who's nobility and "goodness" is unjustified and too emotional; ultimately lame. I guess I'm mainly thinking about the conversation that occurred between him and the enemy sword girl. Made no sense to me that they started talking all personal while fighting. Who knows it might get a lot better but this lends me to my topic.

I truly enjoyed Darker Than Black and Code Geass. Main character in Darker than black actually was a good person but didn't have to say lame things to convince anyone plus he was still a bad ass, knew loss/pain and was very interesting. Lelouch in Code Geass was all vengeance at any cost.

So feel free to share some anime that have good characters, lacking in lame goodness. That doesn't mean I don't like characters that save the world. Some anime succeed at it without being lame such as FMA and FMP.

Since you haven't mentioned it, I'm gonna assume you haven't watch it. So.. Death Note? It's similar to Code Geass and Ledouch is like another version of Light/Kira.

Berserk. Preferably the manga, though. I second pretty much everything in this thread.

Also, it would be better to put this in the recommendations thread.

Thanks everyone!

I've started adding to my list. It would take a long time to put everything I've seen but I'm trying. A couple of what has been mentioned I have not seen so thanks!

Is it possible to move this thread? Sry about the misplace. Still, it could be about further discussion about characters, what ppl like and don't like.

Baccano! That has got to be one of the most amazing anime I've ever seen!

I already sent a report to a Moderator to move it, so just wait, no need to post a duplicate thread. All is fine.

I second Steins;Gate I suppose incase you haven't seen it.

Just this once, I'll fulfill whatever your wish is.
