| THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- Chapters: "Cape St. George" & "Emissary of Death" It looks like I am off from MAL’s chapter count so I have combined these two chapters. These two chapters have contained the most proselytizing so far in the manga. The Doctor made some good points about the conduct the military, but I was impressed that he drew a distinction between the Japanese Army and armies from other countries. The Japanese Army is probably the worst army that a soldier could have served in during the 20th century. It was nice to hear the Chief-of-Staff provide some justification for their actions, but the Doctor did provide good critics against them. It is tragic that those two second lieutenants were forced to commit suicide, but that is the culture of the Japanese Army during WW2. It looks like the remaining officer will lead the me to their deaths. |
