Oohh. I got what you mean now xD.
If a "good" fansub takes this project, it will be surely in the future, when dvd/blu-ray versions will be already out.

And I agree with Alwarien, just for watching, gg aint as bad as haters make it seem xD.

Because it's another usual shounen anime...

And I wonder why quite many ppl dislike GG subs, personally I love them just because they like to improvise a bit, use the slang or smth similar in their subs.

They have the sense to only use slang at appropriate moments, so that's all good in my books. Teenager has a bit of a valley-girl routine going, or is engaging is some other form of hip newspeak, that's all good. I only complain about slang when it's at inappropiate moments. When the fierce and noble warrior responds to his defeat with "I just got owned", then alarm bells start going off. That's just not proper.

What's wrong with GG's subs? Can anyone give me any specific examples of what was wrong with their sub of ep 1? Do they use any slang in it? Specifically, at innappropriate moments? I'm pretty sure i've watched their subs before, and i don't remember any noticeable bad slang unless it was a troll sub. Of course, that's a good thing and i guess i can count myself lucky(well not really, since i research and watch one ep before i dl the whole series) for not having dl'd some shitty sub.

There is nothing wrong with gg, they are a solid fansubb group.

Even though I say that I personally have my qualms about them, their OP and ED translations have a tendency to be shit. Also I personally prefer the translations to keep the Japanese flavor rather than translating everything at face value. I'm the kind of person that rather have TL notes.

Their subs of this show is good, their translations are good and everything is fine. If anything there is a few sloppy grammatical mistakes but who cares.

gg is quality besides the OP and ED translations.

you apparently can't understand the dilemma of those who want a "good archive" of a series like me, and GG won't be helping on it. It's not that their subs in not acceptable, their whole package is ^^

Personally I find GG's subs to be average, but everything else regarding the file is just ludicrous. I haven't ever downloaded from them, this time out of impatience and a recommendation from someone at horriblesubs, and I'm never going to download from them again. Advertisements in my archive is not acceptable. At all. |B|

Not to mention the file was over 550mb in size. I mean really.

Downloading from Woodbridge now.

WoodBridge and Kata-subs have 10 times better translation if you asked me.

The only plus thing about gg is their release speed.

Their Translation is horrible.
Their westernization for all anime kills the enjoyment.
Random trolling and slangs where they are not even used.
Imagination Power is greater than Actual Translation = gg.
Commercials kept just to troll fans.

If you have been watching anime for 5-6 years, just watch raw. Since watching [gg] is more or less like watching raw with your imagination power. They just type in random lines they please. Not for all of their shows. bb27's TLs are very good. Jaka is a troll and the rest are just wannabe trollmates. Oh, and koda thinks she own the term fansubbin'.

also, this might help.

Also, their encoding is horrible, considering they are using Transport Streams to encode from. Their filesize is so random that a noob encoder like me feels embarrassed.

I would rather watch CR's than gg's. Since WoodBridge and Katana-subs are doing a very good job, I would rather say, an excellent job being the first time into fansubbing, I will watch either of theirs. 2 days wait is nothing compared to 10 years back from now when I used to wait for months and sometime years for the next episode.

apparently WoodBridge is the best so far for this series, they just need to change the font in my opinion, and then we have it, archive quality release

Well no, of course not. They're a speed subber. You go to a quality subber for the archive, or sometimes if it's just worth the wait. That's not a matter of being a bad subber so much as their not offering the service you're looking for.

Heck, ideally the archive waits for the blue ray releases anyway, which just isn't their department.

Lol. The only positive characteristic is their selling point eh? Wow, harsh criticism. Next you're gonna tell me the only reason someone would eat KFC is for the fried chicken, or that Kindles are only good for their books.

I agree though. The waits these days are usually inconsequential. Whether 2 days is worth it to me or not tends to depend on how good the forum discussion is at the time. For example, I'd watch Madoka with GG because it was pretty much a sensation, rocking everything and shaking the community. I like to be able to watch that in real time. Of course, if it's important enough I'll just use both. So, using the Madoka example, I used GG subs, but plan on rewatching with whatever subber Bakabt decides to be superior, and would have just been watching with both GG and either Yesy or Nutbladder throughout were not my schedule so hectic at the time.

Take another series like Fairy Tale though, and I'm Ryugan exclusive. I don't really care what the community has to say about a show like that, and I have to imagine they don't have anything interesting to say anyway. No reason to sacrifice quality for speed there.

I did mention blakbunny27's translations are very good. But you can see the difference of quality when he translates for [gg] and [rumbel] and until they gave up on fansubbing very recently, [Frostii].

it all boils down to the editors and the QCs in the [gg] in most of the cases. Who change the translations at their will and/or use random lines just for the sake of it. How accurate was Ao no Ex's episode 1 release? if you have been watching anime for more than 5-6 years, you should be able to tell.

Also, they use Transport Streams from [ElitistFags] that come with closed captions. Unless you know what 'closed caption' is, here is what it is. Closed caption has the dialogs embedded with the release of the .ts format. Which basically means they already have the timing (slight modifications often required) and just need to translate from the Japanese characters, in other words, read the lines to translate. And not listen and translate. Which is easy if you can cap and run the dialogs in a translator application. Can you now relate with why commercials are kept? No removal of commercials = little less requirement of 'timing'. No?

The reason I started despising [gg] is not because of their subs but the way the handle the situation around them and the way they behave with fellow fansubbers. koda in her usual bitching did mention that .ts is a blessing for the rest of the fansubbers not because of the quality of the video but because of the closed caption that come with it.

And despite not having closed captions with .ts, you can clearly see who the real fansubbers are. Fansubbing groups like [Derp] and [Mango] actually translated without those god forsaken transport streams. Yet their quality of the translation remained of the usual standard.

So who is using closed caption and blatantly displaying their obvious lack of the Japanese language? Guess what! It's none other than koda's [gg]. And your demonstration is Ao no Ex episode 1 which they translated from non .ts source. I beg your pardon if you can't differentiate between translation from an original language and imagination filled -
'randomness'.

Since the Madoka example didn't help, I think this arguments wouldn't help either. Thanks for your comments though. But I don't think anything about KFC is any good. Their food sucks compared to BurgerKing's. Well then again, thats my personal opinion because between the two, I would rather walk two blocks more from my door to BurgerKing's to enjoy my lunch break ^_^

Edit: There is no point arguing over [gg]. Anyways, I am sticking with WoodBridge. Definitely a keeper.

Hm... That kind of stuff bothers you? Personally, I love the translator drama. It's always entertaining. Trolls trolling trolls trolling troll-feeders. A clusterfuck of petty squables the likes of which couldn't be found in even the trashiest of fiction. It's a regular soap opera :)

Truth be told, there are some subbers who I follow even when I'm not watching their shows. Some I've never watched at all. I just like to see what crazy shit the subber's getting into this week.

Yeah, I wouldn't actually eat at either unless I had no other options. KFC is nice once every six months or so, but doesn't ever have to become a regular occurrence. When I've got time I'll eat lunch at a nice bar and grill that'll take the time, do it right, and let me sit down to a meal. A tip is a small price to pay for that. I pretty much do fast food when I can't afford to sit down and likely am gonna eat it on my way to class.

It certainly did. Lol.

This show is probably the best ongoing after watching the first couple of episodes. I was already excited over it and now I am happy because it all going good. :)

Maybe because there is an 'offical' sub for it since it's released in crunchyroll?
