| A few days ago I was talking to people in Discord if the lyrics of a song are the only way for it to become "life-changing" to someone. I was answered "No", and that led me to believe that there were a couple songs I could classify as "Life-changing" and that "defined my metrics of what it 'cool'". I have issues answering threads that ask "Why do you like anime?" because it's kinda like asking me "Why do I like women?", but lately I went back to thinking how anime "Altered my brain chemistry", "defined my metrics of 'cool'", "broadened my horizons of what was possible". I think that similar to how, when I became my current political ideology and found in it thing's I'd been looking for for years, I became a bit resentful of my previous one, having contact with anime probably caused the same thing and made me be a bit resentful of western media. Well, if love and hate are two sides of the same coin, then animanga really is art in the sense that it stokes such deep emotions and change into someone. This thread was created because I began to read Rozen Maiden, saw this image and immediately thought "Yeah, I can imagine someone having contact with this image and changing their whole understanding of the world by it".  |

| Don't know about changing brain chemistry but I think I know or maybe relate to what you're saying? For me personally finding anime has felt like I found something I really love. Just the way it's drawn the different stories told is something the west simply doesn't really have. That Rozen Maiden pic is great. |
