I would say to watch the anime first through One pace, which is what I am doing, and then when there are no more chapters of the anime done, continue with the manga.

As some one who recently started One piece and wasn't really intrested before starting. I can say One piece has the ability to make you invested even after 100 episodes.
I can't judge the Manga nor One pace, but i can say you have to watch a few(first few character introductions) episodes to really judge and decide if you like it or not.

Depends on the person. Most people don't like to read manga. Imo I would recommend most people to watch pre timeskip anime and post timeskip in manga.

Manga is probably the best option and then double back for the anime, if you are truly neutral between the two. Depending on the release of the new show, it might be worth reading and then waiting to watch the show then

I’ve personally never watched One Pace, but I’m sure many in here will recommend it as a far superior option, but remember that the existing slower paced anime is still one of the most watched anime of all time. One Pace just gets to the point quicker

I like this advice. I watched up through Fishman island and when I lost a little steam, I read up through the end of egghead. Now I’ve doubled back to the anime and am halfway through Wano, but that post timeskip manga was so much faster

I'd say it's best to read the books then watch the anime, especially because of how long the anime is you'll be able to enjoy it without the suspense of what comes next. I am at about chapter 990 in the manga and just finished ep 763 in the anime. Reading then watching actually helps because I'll forget something that happened in the manga and then I'll see it again in the anime "shortly" after

Steps to watch one piece for beginners
1st Watch Netflix’s live action
2nd Read the colored manga on mangafire or irl from baroque work to post Sabody arc
3rd watch wano arc to the current arc (Don’t worry about skipping so many arcs, they recap it in Wano

I would say anime because 100+ mangas would be hella expensive and take longer

If I talk about the anime, I finished it once as One Piece and now I'm watching it again as One Pace and the Pace version is better.

Reading the manga is a lot faster than watching the anime. I would recommend reading it

If I could do it again, anime until Thriller Bark, and then everything from Thriller I’d read. Idk why, that’s just when I personally felt a drop in quality and pacing more so than previous arcs.

The Shonen Jump+ has it all free (and official). It takes a lot longer to watch 1000 something episodes than 1000 something chapters.

So many pussies saying watch this arc, skip that, continue here, then go with One Pace. At this point y’all need a travel visa before starting the next arc.

You an anime guy? Go start now and consider it a long-term adventure, not a weekend fling.
You a manga guy? Go read the manga, panels will turn faster than Luffy eating meat.

Since most of the anime is a poor adaptation and everyone ends up jumping to the manga I'd say is better to start straight with the manga.

i really like the anime! i’m about to enter into post-timeskip, which i hear the pacing is utterly horrendous for. im not too worried about that though, lol, i can get through bad pacing.

my recommendation is if you’re really worried about pacing, just read the manga. but if you want to be really immersed into one piece, i’d say watch the anime. toei makes some odd decisions with the characters and the art sometimes, but if you’re not worried about that, then go for the anime! one pace is certainly an option, but i personally don’t prefer it.

just, for either route you go, don’t skip any arcs (unless it’s purely filler, though g-8 in the anime is good). it kind of defeats the purpose. skypiea, thriller bark, and even long ring long land set up stuff for later arcs, and especially with skypiea the stories are great. i get that people want to get caught up, but i personally think these arcs are a lot of fun!

I actually read the manga after the anime and it took me a month to catch up, Back then the manga was around the wano arc.

One piece chapters are relatively short and easy to read as like most shounen manga.
