Couple weeks ago, I made a post when I finished the anime saying that it was a masterpiece. Now it's time for the manga.

Obviously it is also a masterpiece. The story is great, the characters were (most of them) great, the karuta games were so intense I felt like watching a football world cup final, especially in the last games. Watching animes can definitely make you feel that way but feeling like that while reading a manga is unusual.

You can't imagine how many times I screamed and cried while reading.

To be honest, there were some chapters or some pages that I personally felt that they were hard to read and uninteresting because of too much text (especially about a poem or Japan history that I know I will forget) or a flashback that I don't care about while in an important game. But still a 10/10.

NOW MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE LAST CHAPTER.
I really love love triangles, like Blue Box or Oregairu BUT why do they always end up the way I don't want them to !?
I thought "for sure this time it'll end up with the ship that I want but NO it's never the case 😭😭😭😭.

So yeah at the last chapter, I felt the same way when I finished reading Oshi no Ko, which is that the entire manga is amazing but the ending is so damn frustrating (for me at least).

I need to end this post on a good note : go read Chihayafuru if you haven't done so yet, it is a masterpiece !

*spoiler alert* thank you!!! i recently finished oshi no ko because of the long wait for the new season… and idk why manga love ruining their good run with bad endings. Chihayafuru doesn’t have a bad ending, but that last second decision to go with Taichi still hurts me to this day. All signs pointed to Arata… but i guess he can’t win the game AND get the girl😒 also the sequel manga hasn’t been translated entirely so we are really in limbo with it

all signs pointed that way, Taichi was always second to Arata. When it came to the game and with his confession. also majority of the series Chihaya always thought about Arata, (until last few chapters where she suddenly realized how much of a loser he was and went out with him out of pity) im only joking but at the time i was mad this was the outcome of the story

Yeah all signs pointed towards Arata. Chihaya was blushing and having butterflies when she was thinking about Arata. Even when Taichi made his confession, Chihaya said "I'm sorry". Now that I think about it, this decision does not make sense. I'm currently trying to sleep but cannot because I'm thinking so deeply about what I just read lol.

I understand why it would make sense, but for me personally I just thought Taichi was a much better character than Arata, he also did more for and seemed to love Chihaya more. Although I understand why it would make sense for Chihaya to choose Arata, I personally was always rooting for Taichi, so I was happy he won in the end even if the execution wasn’t perfect.

Man, I feel you 100%! Chihayafuru is such an emotional rollercoaster—it’s wild how a manga about karuta can get your heart pounding like a sports final. And yeah, those long text-heavy moments can be a bit of a slowdown, but the payoff in the matches is insane.

As for the ending… ugh, the eternal pain of shipping the 'wrong' ship 😭 I’ve been there way too many times. Still, it’s one of those rare series that sticks with you long after you finish. Definitely masterpiece material.
