Kurt and Max's backstory is pretty simple: They had an office job, they didn't like how they were treated, they quit and joined a group that was involved in illegal activities, they got arrested for... sugar trafficking? How can someone's life be made a living hell using sugar? |

Don't worry, in a few more years, the liberal west will ban all sugar, so we have to hire these guys to get it to us. A smuggler's paradise I say, just you wait |

| I love how whenever this near or distant future is is implied to be some form of dystopia with a system in place that goes so far as to ban sugar. Although some could argue from a health and medical standpoint it's justified or benevolent and not inherently indicative of a maximally dystopic state/society, but one has to wonder how far their regulatory grip on whichever portion of whichever galaxy they're in and control goes and what else is banned or heavily restricted. But also, I know the smugglers are supposed to be shown as incompetent fools and amateurs, so it would be consistent with that, but wouldn't they question the candy before eating specifically due to the fact that sugar is banned, so candy is automatically not something which would be allowed, let alone given and passed out freely, in a police station by a police officer? Unless candy in this world is sweetened with something else, like the high fructose corn syrup in lieu of cane sugar, which maybe wouldn't count as real sugar, or an even more artificial chemical sweetener mix. |
