I was planning to start from the original but that seems to be very difficult to find. So here are my first impressions on Princess knight first chapter "Once upon a Time"
Not much happens on this first episode that we aren't aware by the synopsis. It did surprise me that a manga from the fifties used the word misogyny, i know it shouldn't the treatment of gender issues is one on the reasons I'm reading this but I remember reading mangas from the 90's and 2000's than didn't want to called things by their names, it could be because the translation it's from 2011 and that wasn't a problem japan had but us. However it was a pleasant surprise non the less.
The style/vibe besides being very clearly Tezuka's, makes a great job at giving the sensation of it being a fairy-tale or a Disney princess movie.

Overall, nothing but good things in this chapter, for me at least. I curious to see where the story goes.

@Red3103 yes, but I am (or at least I try to be) a bit of a completionist, so my ideal form of expiriencing media is to do it fully and in order. That isn't always posible and I'm okay with that. However I did wish it was a little eisier to find

It can't really be called the same story when the newer is drawn/presented compleatly differently, only the main premise is the same but most of the events are different. Revising art/scenes for old manga is different from reserialization. Tezuka grew a lot in 10 years as an manga artist.

To note: Twin Knight is a sequel to 53 version, but it doesn't really fit as a sequel to the 63 version do to the changes in the cast of characters.

it literally says it's a rehash in its afterword of the 53 version only main difference is the witch replacement and Capt.Blood
