| So i've been planning to watch frieren now that season 2 is coming in 7 months and i want to find out how similar it is to some fantasy media that i enjoy: Movies - Lord of the Rings trilogy Books - Lord of the Rings, Silmarillion, The Witcher Games - The Elder Scrolls, The Witcher Anime - Re:Zero, Mushoku Tensei |

| It includes basic fantasy tropes like elves, dwarfs, dragons and demons. I would say the fantasy aspects are the weakest part of Frieren tbh, but there aren’t many good and original/ creative fantasy anime out there tbf. If you liked Elder scrolls, you will love Frierens soundtrack. A lot of times when I watched it I thought to myself „This could be played in Skyrim or Oblivion“. If you liked Re:Zero and Mushoku Tensei, you will probably like Frieren aswell because all of those anime try to tell a different story than all the other anime out there, whose storylines are almost the same (If you compare the battle shounen with eachother or isekai). I would highly recommend you to try Frieren, but you have to keep in mind that the fantasy part of Frieren is by far the weakest one, but it is a masterpiece in many other aspects. Just give it a chance and you probably wont regret to watch the whole 28 episodes. |

Whether good or bad, this will affect you while watching the anime, removing the freedom to decide for yourself, what you personally think about the anime, for example, being disappointed because an anime doesn’t hold up to the hype. After watching an anime for myself, forming my own opinion, then I’ll look up what other people think about the anime, to compare opinions. |
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating. |

With all due respect, why not just watch it and find out for yourself?

| LOTR is an unrivalled masterpiece of a story with incredible character development, world building, storytelling, foreshadowing, etc. Frieren falls short in a lot of those areas imo. Unfortunately there’s nothing as adventurous or exciting as the other fantasy you mentioned in Frieren; the stakes are so incredibly low and there’s basically no threat or challenge because Frieren is so strong and basically invincible. Plot armor galore, too. A lot of side characters are given a shallow backstory and then forgotten about in the next episode. The foreshadowing is non existent, and even the MC is pretty two dimensional. She’s basically a copy of Fushi from To Your Eternity, but less emotional. To sum it up, the anime plays it safe and relies on every trope from the genre and never brings anything new to the table. It’s still a fun show, just don’t expect it to stand up to the fantasy giants like the ones you mentioned. |

| If you liked Mushoku Tensie you probably will like it. It is very similar premise of slow SoL and character focused. Just with absolute opposite kind of mc. But like many said just watching better than asking people to "sell it to you" |

Maybe they are busy and they took time to make this post bcs they thought they could get some view on what you think about the show so he can make his mind about watching the show in his free time which he definitely cannot waste on a supposedly worthless show. My entire family household works, but we will sit down and eat together, while “previewing a movie”, meaning we have not watch it before and most the time we don’t know much about it, so we test it to see if we like it. If you have some time to watch an anime here and there, then you have time to test an anime that you are unsure about. This “there isn’t enough time” is an excuse and entirely in your own head. |

I DONT LIKEE FREIEEIIIENNN because it is BORING and makes me wish I WAS WATCHHINNG things I enjoy more LIKE PULP FICTION or kill BILL volume 2 but I APPERICATE the authors effort in making what they LOVE it makes me happy for THEM |
| Its a show that is capable of setting a standart for future fantasy shows. Like how SAO did back in its heyday. |
