Recommendations for someone getting back into anime.

After a few years away from anime I have decided to give it another go. I have rewatched Cowboy Bebop and it's favorite anime of all time now. I would like to balance rewatching stuff I have seen with new titles. When I got into anime I really enjoyed Shonen, Slice of Life and Sports anime. Are there any good titles you could recommend from these genres? I tried Dead Dead Demon's but I found the tonal whiplash between episode 0 and episode 1 jarring for a slice of life show. Any recommendations are appreciated.

A Bebop fan might want to try Lupin the Third, and seen Castle of Cagliostro, so could try more Lupin! Part 4 is cool, and lots of fun movies and the classic seasons too.

Hajime no Ippo and Slam Dunk are my fav sports series, very fun and addictive. I'd try Irresponsible Captain Tylor, Trigun, Outlaw Star, Escaflowne, and Gankutsuo too.

Run With the Wind / Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru for sport anime. Story concluded in 23 episodes. Personally I find it easier to get back into anime with a completed story.
