That much is obvious. Yet alot of people don't follow this advice. I don't think these people understand how dangerous getting doxed is. Posting any information that can dox you is not a good idea.

I don't even use FaceBook (FB) because of how totally unsafe it is. FB is actively encouraging people to share all their personal info online. That doesn't sound like a good idea. For obvious reasons.

Not that it matters, because even if you don't post any real personal info on FB, that website can still track all of your browsing activities via FB cookies hidden within your web browser. Why anyone would not take even basic measures to protect their privacy online simply baffles me. It is not for the sake of engaging in illegal activities. It is simply a matter of basic security measures.

You are right. Picture bellow is a prime example on how to shake off federal agents. The user said he has university education in computer arts and animation to get the feds on a wrong path.

My height? That is personal info I wouldn't post on here. And does it even matter how tall I am? No, it doesn't matter whatsoever.

In the current era of cancel culture I agree which is why I avoid social media. Employers look for that stuff online.

I feel like being outside of the US elevates a lot of the risk that comes from being doxed.

Having your address and personal details leaked while in the US where crazies and in general just people with absolutely nothing to lose exist is pretty bad.

Although then again there's so many people out there that threaten to dox people and when push comes to shove the best they can do is send you a spoofed IP grabber link as if having someone's IP would amount to anything in the first place [it's next to useless].

Man when I was a kid, I was often in the papers and media about my illness and seeking treatment.
My name & face was out there, so we're my family's.
My School was named and photographed, the hospital where I was being treated similarly was, no wonder social services came to it.
I think we at least had a fake home address in the paper, but yeah damn....not fun reading all that back, but it's what we had to do.

I know the risks all too well, so only put out what I feel comfortable about sharing.

You've reaveled enough in these forums for all special opses to track you down, or even a fanatic stalker.

I don't care that much about that, obviously too much I ain't revealing such as home adress.

We were all warned of this before social media went mainstream. How hasn't everyone figured it out by now?

I know some people don't really may mind to this matter but it's important. Getting doxxed isn't fun at all, people find it fun to dox people which is interesting to me because why would someone want to do something that hurts a person badly. People can find anything these days.

@Lucifrost

I don't see an issue with an employer knowing how I think about certain things. If an employer oppose my political and personal views that much, I might oppose theirs too, so we don't have to deal with another.

I'm not on social media and I don't think I have ennemies that would like to doxx me (I hope at least). Did I leave any crumbs on MAL? There's maybe a few cat pictures. My veterinarian could doxx me if they ever found them I guess? 😂

I've been threatened with being doxed before on twitter, reddit, and discord. Nothings ever came of it but considering where I live and the fact that I own a self-defense gun I don't have much to worry about.
Go read Berserk and One Piece they're the best thing ever
