out of the 10 most popular review, only about 4 are considering the show to be bad, and 1 of them is a troll(you can't really give a show a 1 exept for the meme of it). plus the stat, at around 7.5 last time a check, is alright. i think why some people hate it is because they were expecting a kino no tabi 2.0 . last point, the better episode are in the second half and most of the review are prelimenary (only 3-4 ep in)

lol, amazing point: I'm old so you don't know what you're talking about! it's true though, the rating isn't bad, and the show is lovely. nothing groundbreaking, but a wonderful adventure story. my advice to OP, don't worry about what other people think, just enjoy it all the way through then leave your own review. the more people do that, the less weight the negative reviews have ♡

I was expecting some romance to be present for the MC but got let down. Also didn’t like how most of the episodes were related to one thing the MC experienced and then on to the next 💀😂. However, the animations and actors were good in my opinion and I genuinely enjoyed watching it besides my own expectations being dismantled. I’d overall give it a 7.5 or an 8 though.

Basically because it’s episodic and doesn’t have a main plot. People hate shows like that. It’s pretty dang good tho

I don't like it because there is no plot at all. When I watched the first episode there were a lot of fights and really nice animations but it turned out that the anime was only city after city after city

Back when it was airing most of the hate for the show was from first half of episode 3 where she didnt save the girl in the flower garden. She didnt meet the shounen MC traits, saving everyone. Personally Elaina is one of my fav mc.

The main character is a fucking cunt first and foremost. Tbh I really enjoyed the first episode, it was a great introduction to the story and overall a well put episode but other than that it was pretty bland. The MC is a self centered girl who cares very little (if at all) about anything other than herself, she’s shown she won’t fix the problems she’s caused. Also, the way the show portrays the passing of time makes no fucking since. I wouldn’t call the show horrible but it’s definitely not good and the more I watched the more boring it got.

I thought the show started off very well and I don’t mind the episodical format and the fact that they would try tackle difficult world topics or viewpoints but they never went into detail about them or were poorly shown. For me personally the show just went down hill after the start and I watched it to the end hoping it would get better but it sadly didn’t. A lot of the characters were boring and forgettable and the way that every episode would start off with the mc’s egotistical, narcissistic monologue was very annoying. They tried to do a lot of world building but I just found most of the adventures were dull and repetitive, the most memorable parts were the morbid aspects of the adventures often caused by her non existent empathy. From what I remember there is either very little or absolutely no character development throughout this story which I believe is a problem for a story about adventuring around the world.

mal reviewers will rate literally anything badly, it has a score of 7.55 so its clearly not generally hated, but yeah I don't get how someone who likes sol could hate this

Yeah the light novel is way better than the anime.I mean in the first place the anime was made to promote the light novel .So they just progressed through all the events pretty quickly and also skipped a few parts..

I think you are not made for slice of life genre , watch some shounen for fights

No I have no problem with slice of life, I actually really like it but I think it's so boring when it's a slice of life with no plot. Another thing I didn't mention at first was as well that the MC is such a selfish person, I mean in the first episode they showed that she is really strong, but when she is so strong why isn't she helping other? In the end the MC personality and the fact that the anime has no plot made the anime unenjoyable for me.

God damn these questions are the worst. “Why do people hate this?!” As a show sits with a favorable score. 7.55 is pretty good all things considering.

As for hate against the show, it’s a mixed bag. Some found it boring because she just traveled from city to city. But that’s because reading as hard and they didn’t see it as “wandering witch” and ignored the entire first episode where she said she is going to travel.

I liked it, but my only complaint is she gets involved despite vowing to not get involved. However there is an episode that explains this to a degree, but I think they should’ve lead with that.

No I get that 7.55 MAL score is not bad, but I did looked at those reviews before watching this anime to determine should I watch it or not since not many anituber/influencer I saw reviewing it. But the reviews were pretty divisive like half of the reviews given it 8++ and half other given it no more than 5 whilst saying like it's the worst show they've ever watched, it's kinda rare y'know for these type of shows. So it's kinda natural for me to think that there was a lot of hate to this show when it first aired.
But, judging from all of your comments I guess it's just not suited for some people taste and that they were expecting it to be somewhat different show. Thanks for all the comment I guess I should just not listen to those reviews in the first place.

IMO,it episodic,bland,gerneric which is not bad bc it still had something go for it bc the story is well "not mass producted" is probably the right word

The plot sometime randomly get dark for no reason beside shock factor

And the MC is like arrogance but in a anyoning way and feel like a little brat that always say thing like " well actually..."

This is just a supper average anime that can only be watch when tou dont have the mood to cringe to bad anime nor have the will to appreciate a good anime

It is simple really... some "people" hide behind the anonymous door of the web, giving them nothing to lose, so they will hate on anything.
Kind of sad really. Just read the review. If they give clear polite criticism of actual things they have issue with it may be worth reading. Such as a show that makes major changes from the manga/LN, to the characters or plot, that make no sense or ruin the original beyond reason. Perhaps they plagiarized someone's work or they introduced continuity issues, etc. I have even seen a valid bad review about a show that had a VERY messed up story line. But the complaint was explained clearly and politely. I personally thought that show was interesting to watch despite the plot holes and....odd writing style, but I knew what to expect going in because of a useful bad review with NO hate. Just a clear complaint.

However IF they give no reasons, or their complaint is something stupid like "show xyz is crap" or "all shows that are (insert whatever troll doesn't like) are garbage" or my personal favorite stupid comment "show xyz is crap because show abc is better", well ignore those comments. They were posted by trolls who have no brain and nothing better to do. No one cares about their "opinions" and neither should you.

NOW as for this show:
I watched it. It is not one of my favorites but it is a good, clean, simple anime. Kind of cute and peaceful to watch. No DEEP plot or soul shaking moments so if you are looking for that you won't find it here. If you want a cute little anime showing the individual daily stories a young witch collects as she travels from town to town you will like it. If that is your "thing" you will love it. The characters are fairly well written, the individual stories have variety. The story progression makes sense and the visuals are clean and cute for the most part.

I can't find any reason anyone would hate on it but I can understand it is not going to be everyone's favorite either.

I personally Love this Anime. I don't understand the hatred of some people against this anime because of its pace. Elaina travels and, in fact, She wanders around the world and She doesn't want to hinder EVENTS that don't concerns her.

The Journey is beautiful just because I can relate myself into the Ashen Witch as far as her decisions are concerned, she doesn't do nothing to get un trouble and, just like each one of us, she doesn't want to help others if she doesn't receive something from these "others". Like a normal Journey, Elaina limites herself only to Watch the countries she visits, without the "stupid and childish will to help others. YES, because she Is not more than a normal witch, and she Is literally no one to change events only by getting involved inside them within only two days! The world isn't fair and Elaina knows that better than anyone else.

I love this anime and I love the character design of the characters, the graphic, the music and, above all, the vibe that this anime gave me. I love Elaina so much and she Is one of my favourite characters in the Anime World, and...The Light Novel of the seris gets even more deeply in her characterization and the Anime shows us only a small part of her journey!
I hope to have made someone think better opinions about this anime. PEACE.

It has serious episodes that are poorly shown. I also felt annoyed that the mc did nothing about anything dark but still had the nerve to be narcissistic. She didn't even burn or do anything about the field that was killing people even though she wasn't affected by it (correct me if this was explained in the anime. It's been a while). I think I know why she was meant to do nothing. She was meant to simply explore the world rather than affect it in any way, like a spectator. I just don't like her because of it. She is cowardly as shown by her not returning to the girl that may have committed suicide. If it wasn't too late she could have prevented it. She didn't even think of a good way to free the slave. She still has the nerve to be narcissistic.
