Hi everyone, quick question : I've been thinking about watching this anime cause it seems like something I would like but I'm not sure if I should watch the series or the movie prequel (Jujutsu Kaisen 0) first. Can anyone give me some advice?
Edit : Wow sooo many people responded so quickly, very cool. It seems it's basically unanimous - watching the series first is better. I can't thank everyone individually cause there's so many of you who replied but I can thank you all like this ;)

The prequel was written before the main series but I’d personal say watch season 1 then film as the movie events only become relevant after season 1.

The prequel is not needed to watch the main series. Plus the prequel is only in cinemas in japan at the moment. Also By watching this first the prequel would be more enjoyable as some characters cross over that you would already love from season1 when watching the movie.

According to me you should watch the series before the movie . Because you get to know more about the main plot in the series .

All the things explained about the jujutsu kaiden world was done in the series. So if you start with the prequel, you won’t understand much of the basics

it doesn’t really matter when you watch the prequel movie because it is its own thing while still having ties to what will happen in season 2. again you don’t really have to watch the movie.

If you watch JJK 0 first I think you are not going to enjoy it because it is nothing special you will only like it after watching the main series because main series helps in understanding the characters more.(here,I'm taking about JJK 0 manga because I think the movie is still not released outside of Japan)

Note-the series is also not that special :p

i greatly disagree. events of the prequel are important in the main storyline. and to understand some of the upcoming events in season 2 the prequel is going to be a requirement. the prequel doesn't have time to go over some of the concepts of the ability shown off in the movie, so I recommend watching the series first then watching the movie

what I meant was that the prequel is not needed to understand the first season. It ties in alot in what would be season 2 and in the manga right now you would be a bit lost if you haven’t read/watched zero.

No. It’s a prequel released after the main. Just watch in release order, which is always the way the author wanted people to watch it in.

e.g. You watch Star Wars Episodes 4, 5, and 6, then 1, 2, and 3 because 4, 5, and 6 were created first.

You´ll only understand the prequel better if you watch the series 1st.
You can watch either way you like but there will be a minimum of information about the main cast of the other given.

Really whatever you want. 0 was written before JJK was even JJK. I think it makes little things in S1 more rewarding, but you could also watch S1 before 0 and completely understand it all the way through.

The prequel has nothing to do with what is adapted in the anime currently. It would most likely be very confusing for you to watch the prequel first. I havent watched it yet but im caught up on the manga. The prequel isnt relevant until after the shibuya arc which isnt animated yet.

I highly recommend reading the manga if you’re interested. Its WAYY past whats currently in anime and its gotten SOO GOOD!

you can watch the prequel because you'll understand more about the characters in the past and present.

I think you should watch the Anime first because it makes the Prequel easier to understand! But watching the Prequel first should work too!😄

Honestly I'd say yeah because I find the writing to be weaker since it was written first.
I think the first season is better overall, therefore it should be saved for last.

I live in New Zealand and we've had it in our cinemas for a lil while now
