It might have been fate for a would-be kamikaze named Ken Asuka to get grounded just before Japan's lost to America. The war ended, but there's still residual turmoil in town from both foreigners and street thugs. Surely, Asuka's karate spirit is still burning hot enough to take out any punks crossing him.

I know this is early 70's anime, but the dialog sure runs rapid. Was something like this common at the time? I have to pause every now and then to absorb the story.

The real life-action karate demonstrations are... interesting mix-ins. I suppose they're to show kids how cool karate is -- which it is! (Was that why the show runs fast: to make room for real karate clips?)
