I know other anime has done timeskips but I’ve never seen an anime skip 6 months to year every other episode like this. Tbh I wish a lot of anime’s would do this for the simple fact that 99% of anime will never get a 2nd season and most viewers aren’t going to pay for manga and LN’s to figure out the rest. I was really looking forward to Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki because I did spoil myself on the harem but that show acts as if it has 100 episodes so it can have filler episodes for the first 7 episodes. The only thing this show has me waiting on is his spirit being born/given a form.

Tbh i really like the show nd true most anime wont get a 2nd season but thing is we have to accept it.

For us an anime can be a masterpiece but for the community it would be a dissapointed and there for it wont get another season.

High school dxd didnt get 5th season and 4th was at 2018

Bahamut chronicles never got a 2nd season

The asterisk war never got a 3rd season altho 2nd season finished with a cliffhanger of a lifetime.

I can name more and more man its just sad we dont get this

The fact is that even in the manga/ln there is the same timeskip that happened in the anime and it is not due to the fact to cover more chapters of the ln/ manga in the anime.

It reminds me of assassins creed which also time skips a lot. As long as story story stays connected it's fine for me

I don't think every anime should time skip, but I think it's very well done here, but some anime simply don't need it, that's not the point in them, it only works for certain genres, but I definitely think it would be nice to see more anime try time skips out

I’d give anything to have highschool dxd finish out the full story. As well as New Testament Devil Sister, Lord Marskman, and bahamut chronicles

My top priority would be Chivalry of a Failed Knight and Konosuba. At least more Konosuba is on the way. Also, I hope there will be more Kanojo mo Kanojo, Tokyo Revengers, and Moonlit Fantasy soon.

Here is the thing. I would argue that an anime should be a self contained story in its own right. This means understanding how much air time this show is likely to get and structuring the story around that. In a way, the anime should walk a tightrope between rewriting parts of the original work so that it can contain the story in its limitted runtime and keeping true to the original intentions of the source materials author.

This, in and of itself, does not demand timeskips but rather skilled writers to approach this as a problem of limitted resources. Unfortunately... This isn't easy. You're going to make someone unhappy and things won't always turn out well even if they're passionate about the material. Thus why, for every good adaptation there are several really bad ones. However, it is a line which needs walking.

Unless you're Monogatari in which case fuck it, we have an unlimitted budget and amount of seasons, let's be creative and go nuts. The fans will absolutely love us for it.

What you describe is not a Time Skip, but missing out parts of the storyline entirely.

A Time Skip is when a block of time passes in-universe, but the narrative does not, allowing for an alteration of the status quo or giving an opportunity to update the designs and relationships of the cast. However, what you suggest is omitting areas of the work to get to the end quicker. This would be a terrible idea, for many reasons that should all be obvious.
Well I for one already loved Lain.
