I love this series multiple plotlines for every character and how their struggles are real but interesting.

If you don't have any recommendations I'd like to throw People Watching out. Odd taxi really reminded me of this little animation series on yt

Durarara!! is similar in that there are like 16 main characters and the episodes follow them as their paths sometimes cross.

Baccano, it consists of three different timelines that are told simultaneously, and of course they are linked together.

I highly recommend it.

Monogatari and Durarara are must watch if you like this kind of intertwined world where you get to see different perspectives and how people go with daily situations that lead to even bigger situations!

The Durarara!! franchise is definitely the closest. Also, IIRC, the author of DRRR!! also did a light novel similar to this? I haven't read that since I just read it somewhere. That light novel is a story where all of the characters are connected by one character, and it's the taxi driver— that's what I can recall, at least.

Boogiepop Phantom.
The original anime and the light novels. Don't bother with the recent anime.

I recommend Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories on Netflix. It's more episodic than Odd Taxi, but they're pretty similar concepts, both being grounded in reality following adult characters and their daily lives and struggles.

I definitely see how Baccano is super similar to this. Might as well add Durarara too.

I think Durarara is the closest in terms of its setting and vibes. Beastars on the other hand is only similar just because it features anthropomorphic characters, other than that the plot is completely different.
I love K-On, and so should you.

People saying this is similar to Monogatari: I haven’t seen this yet (was thinking about it, been watching the rise in score), but how so? Because I love Monogatari (every aspect of the show, not just the.... yknow, certain scenes haha) but still love it. But definitely gonna be checking this out!

@sntiago

I actually can't offhand think of any anime that really remind me of Odd Taxi. Sure, Baccano and Durarara have many characters and sub-plots, but that's a pretty superficial comparison. Tonally, they are completely different. Baccano is a pastiche of American mafia movies, Tarantino, and a little bit of shonen magic on top. It has anthropomorphic characters, but Beastars is all about the fact that they're animals. The carnivore vs. herbivore conflict is the core of Beastars. It drives every plot in the entire manga/anime. In Odd Taxi, they act like humans. They live in Tokyo. They reference aspects of Japanese culture like Rakugo. We the audience see them as animals, but that might as well just be a stylistic choice. They're actually just ordinary people. This is an anime about a cranky, single, 40 year old Taxi driver and his wage slave buddy the janitor. It actually seems like this is aimed at underachieving, middle aged men. This is a "Salaryman manga". A genre of manga written for 30-50 year old businessmen to read on the train to work. They were very popular in Japan during the 1980s, but they never got anime adaptations because anime in Japan is traditionally seen as being for a younger demographic.

Sntiago, I just wrote this on your profile, but for the others I highly recommend Chiisakobee. This is a manga about (young) adults dealing with the challenges of life and with each other. No villains, fan-service, or 'action,' just compellingly written characters and a unique premise. A slice of life of contemporary Japan, for thinking adults. Also, beautiful art.

not sure if there's any anime that's similar to Odd Taxi. Sure, Baccano and Durarara!! are connected stories, but they have magic and shonen stuff. Beastars is only with the anthro-animals, it doesn't deal with the more adult problems that Odd Taxi deals.

The closest thing I can think off is Bojack Horseman (not even an anime), which is similar in the aspect of a 30-40 year old animal person dealing with a lof of shit stuff in his life. I mean, if Bojack Horseman won a lot of praise with the public, why wouldn't you watch it?
i fucking hate manga (keeps reading manga

the best mystery anime i've ever watched before this is the Higurashi series, although you could probably similar character interactions in the Monogatari series
