this show is proof that more fans love Character Driven Stories and less love for Plot Driven Stories

this show does not focus on character interactions and development thats why the characters feels 1 dimensional or shallow or there is not much emotional attachment to the characters, its more on action and plot twists and how the conviction particles work as the main theme

so am i right on this? thoughts?

Honestly I really like this show because it's so different from what's been airing recently. Back Arrow starts very 1D but over the course of this season so far there's been a bit more character development however I think overall the goal of this anime was to give the mech action lovers what they wanted... Mech and Action. I think if people don't like this show, they should turn to switch to a show that they'll like

I'm get what OP is saying and I definitely belong to the "event-driven" camp. For reference, the Three-body Problem is my favourite novel of all time and it has been consistently criticised for poor characterisation. As far as I'm concerned, the way this show plays on the various "mechanics" introduced demonstrate strong internal consistency and that's all I need to enjoy it.

@deg you may have brought your query 4 months too late lols

But yeah, I can see where Back Arrow's influence came from with the charater "development" etching from their Convictions, that's why the Bind Warpers exist in the first place.

But also, if there's nothing out of the Convictions alone, then no matter what it shows, it will be average and bland.

PREACH GOAT. I don’t get why people watch stuff they know they don’t like just to shit on it.

There are a lot of other shows with boring chars - where people just liked it because of "animation".

Here I actually like the chars. Nothing special. But also not bad - nice mix and some are fun to watch.

@KANLen09

ye it might be late, because the low score and low watching rate is not simply about mecha genre anymore imo

episode 17 shows again that this show focuses more on plots like plot twists and action and less from psychology of character interactions

maybe people are bored of too much plot

Or maybe it's trying to mix both aspects when going full-on for one fails to just further progress the story. It's always trade-off exchanges.

the character development or psychology dialogues are shallow though

maybe its just too fast pace from the plot twist and action standpoint, that viewers do not have much time to process all of it in every episode but for me i like it
