| First of all, I should make something clear: it's not "trap"; it's "otokonoko". Also, I feel like otokonoko were good until they went mainstream, and 12 year olds online started making a million memes about them. People miming about Felix and Astolfo on Twitter and Reddit likely can't even name the anime they come from, and definitely don't know that Astolfo originally came from a video game. And even if they can name them, they haven't watched them. Also most otokonoko I have seen are straight, not gay. Regardless of all of that, there are some good otokonoko out there. For example, Hideri is very good, and if he counts, Shiota Nagisa is too. I think otokonoko are okay if they are not replacing all other fan service, and if they have personality past being an otokonoko. I think that's how these two got it right. |
