| Hey neat, somebody else is looking for these! I haven't been able to find either this or the road safety short, but I've done some more searching and found out a little more about them. As far as I can tell, both shorts are available to rent from certain Japanese libraries/city councils in 16mm format. The road safety short appears to be listed as available for rent in Setagaya here, and I THINK the fire safety short is available for rent at Tokyo Metropolitan Library but I'm having a hard time navigating their website to confirm. You would need a projector to play these, unfortunately. Other than that, I did find this tweet from a Japanese twitter user which seems to suggest that they've watched it. Their twitter bio says that they are a rare animation collector so I'm sure they would be happy to help if anyone wants to try sending a message, but my Japanese is bad and I'm shy, haha. So yeah, nothing concrete, but I don't think they're lost media, at least, and there is a slim chance that digitised versions exist somewhere. If I'm ever living in Japan I'll definitely try to rent the 16mms, I'm super curious. |
