It's impossible to control what people do, but my biggest fear is when it creeps into the database. It's one thing for an entry to accidentally be submitted with some bad data which eventually you hope to identify and correct once and for all. It's even worse though when the data was originally correct, and then some confused person submits bad "corrections" which the mods blindly accept. This happened with The Everlasting Guilty Crown which originally was submitted with the right duration, then changed at some point to match the full song, and only once I conferred with lanblade, did I actually figure out what this even was and get the right duration restored.

Ah, folk tales... I've even accidentally submitted duplicates here before, because it's so hard to know what's what, when there are so many adaptations and some works receive multiple releases (individual release, box set, etc.). Like how was I supposed to know that https://anidb.net/anime/11509 is episode 4 of Nihon no Otogibanashi unless I had seen it? For this reason, I always ask someone for a second review before I submit one of these.

There is actually an entry I came across that appears to be missing. I asked someone about it, but never received a reply.


I've done a bit of research on Manga Nippon Mukashibanashi to try and understand the episode/entry discrepancies between databases. MAL should roughly match the Japanese Wikipedia, with no splits for specials and counting individual segments, but if you plan to scour the internet for videos, you're in for quite a journey.

2) I did some research, and likewise can only find direct information about the second one. Season 3, Volume 1 ("永続映像特典:「ヒカルの碁」第2期まで新規編集スペシャルダイジェスト").
Season 2 Volume 1 has " (永続映像特典)設定映像資料集(静止画)", which is presumably is something AniDB would list (they list all specials), but I don't think qualifies for MAL (if it is just still images).
I'm not sure what "DVD Special 1 (Pack#18), after Episode 24" on the AniDB page means though. The Season 1 Volume 8 should have included episode 24. Season 1 Volume 9 includes "episodes 25 + 3 others" ...but as we saw, Season 2 starts with episode 28.
So what is the 4th video on this? i.e. was this the DVD that actually includes the recap and the MAL synopsis is incorrect?
There is some indication the file is available on AniDB (you need to login to see this), but I would have to ask around, since I do not have access. It would be nice to know what this is if possible before making any changes. All to say, you might be on to something, but I'm not convinced yet that this doesn't exist.

3) Yes, unfortunately, I do not have sources for either. lanblade probably backed up eps. 1-6 of Taka no Tsumedan, Toyama, since he archived pretty much everything he saw, but that's not really an option anymore. I don't think anyone else who saw them would have backups.

The month per month search is ridiculous and too much time expensive. We better not touch both accounts unless some new procedure appears. There are 116.7k posts on Pokémon Sleep Twitter account. I didn't research there too.

I think you missed a step? The first video was uploaded in 2017 afaik. It's not 2024 (your gdrive saying it's 2024).

Wakuwaku Koma-chan I got from a friend who found it on some unofficial cartoon streaming site, not even anime related (that I think may now be gone). While unlikely, it's worth considering that these sites or general film streaming sites may have something you're looking for (especially if it was released on a service like Prime).

The other two I purchased U-NEXT rips from ToonsHub (it wasn't much, so don't worry about it). Different groups have access to different services, so it's worth looking around and seeing what you can find (though most won't want to pick up any long series). I have no ability to rip these myself.

Thankfully, a friend had saved that Gundam recap, so we're all good there, though, you're able to watch geo-restricted content, but not download it? It has never been an issue for me using yt-dlp.

That Kamiusagi Rope spreadsheet is intense; your thoroughness is much appreciated. I do want to ask though, you have 50 eps. marked for Kamiusagi Rope x TOHO Cinemas - shouldn't that be 48, since two are lost? (well 49 now - I just added one more to the count) This one is ripe for archival if you have any plans to do so (it would be much appreciated, unfortunately, I am bad doing this myself).

One other note while I'm looking at your watching, the reason I have 82 eps. for Girigiri Warukunai Watame is because I am including "3rd season teaser" in まとめその8 (listed in the episode breakdown thread). It is essentially a regular episode of the series with unique animation, so I think it should be in the count.

I wish I could read Mandarin, if so I could do that. But I can't so I've always relied on others to do it. Thanks for helping!
