In comparison to the prequel with Yuuki and Satoshi, this was disappointing.
The concept still remains but somehow I didn't come to empathize or comprehend Karin in how she turned insane.
A middle-aged woman who never had passion for anything, with a cold family who was content as a teacher who decided to marry a man who she doesn't love with a decent family, falls in love at first sight with a teenage transfer student, Yuri, who's 12 years younger than her.
I'm perplexed as to why I couldn't really care for the yearn of love and having a passion from Karin.
I realize that it became an addiction to escape morality and her complicated responsibilities through love/lust, but as interesting as this unusual story was, it's hard to positively disregard pedophilia fully for the sake of story with a lacking foundation to care for her twisted downfall.
The clarity of the demon's reason of existence to be summoned out of his boredom by granting the wishes of unfortunate people, for the thrill of experiencing their dilemma's and downfall was fulfilling but, after her free trial expires, his apparent pride in her now having the understanding to start a proper romance is odd when he's later disgusted by her choice of chasing after her love for Yuri, even though he's entertained by it all in the end.
Her escaping of her troubles that she's led herself to through bad influence of the demon is understandable but ... with only the fact of never having any passion for anything, and a glimpse of cold parents at the dinner table, it's difficult to comprehend her behavior of falling in love at first sight with a teenager, through then mutual interest of waka, to then chasing that romance with little worry with an equal appearance of age which leads to complications and ends in horror.
... I guess it's hard to take into serious account with the age gap, even though in the end she fell so far that it makes sense that she'd desperately continue towards what she's decided.
Although, I don't know how legit and reasonable the fear of losing her career options is from a late bad record of disregard of work would be to her future. 6/10. |
