Nobody will call you out, if you wear flat nice shoes but you don't need to wear sneakers to someone's wedding. I preferable wear men's suit shoes and a genderneutral suit to a wedding or other event like that and nobody cared, but you don't need to wear street shoes just to give a statement. Someone's wedding is not a place for that.

Yeah there's things that you can do... fuck, I just can't get over that someone could take someone's wedding, which for some people, is a huge milestone in their life, and all they can think about is "how can I make this about me?". It's just narcissism.

I rather call it teenage behavior than straight up narcissim, which just isn't neat to see in adults.
Also in question of an outfit before big events I rather ask. Wouldn't show up in a thight dress I feel uncomfortable in, but asking won't hurt.
Made the experience in the last months that ir almost nobody cares about your gender and gender presentation, it's more often an issue people circlejerk online about and feel they are free to hate on you, because they don't know anyone in their environment maybe.

It's the same with cis women or other people perceived as female being pressured to wear high heels. That just rarely happens. Only one time I heard that some of us were supposed to wear high heels, at our schoolball's dance, mainly because I'm 1.55 and my tall dancing partner had some issues with that.
In no other circumstances I heard people caring about anyone wearing high heels or not, as long as they didn't show up with filfthy street shoes to these events and lot of women show up with flat shoes or change into flat shoes, if their heels start to hurt and nobody cares.

Because it's a "fashion statement" or so I was told by a female friend from work. So there you have folks, right out of the Horse mouth the reason why women wear high heels. Case close.

To match the dress probably on certain occasions, some shoes just don't match the dress at all. I mean they're really look good on your dress but other than that I wouldn't personally wear them on a daily basis just some events or something. They're really not that comfortable if you're not used to it that is why you should always bring an extra shoes/slippers in case you're about to give up lol

Females highly value height as a term of a genetic quality. That would explain the facination of wearing shoes that increase your percieved height.

Actually, what it most likely commonly stems from is a widely-held Psychological Complex.

Really, that is too bad... as a Petite, Feminine Woman is just simply ♥Adorably Lovable♥ and intensely-desirable to more than a few men out there...

They look good, they tighten up the bum and leg muscles and I always think they will be good in bed if they are willing to make that much of an effort.

I do hate platform heels though, they are for cheap prostitutes.

High heels are no ordinary shoes.. It has moved so far away from the ease of walking.
Naturally the foot experience pain, sometimes they even bleed.
Despite this fact, women place their feet in 4 inch, 6 inch, 8 inch, even 10 inch high heels believing the world will see them differently from and they'll see the world differently from that height..
High heels are a work of art, turning petty girls into beautiful women.

Actually high heels were first invented in the 16th century in Paris, France to avoid getting shit on women dresses..
The streets of Paris were covered in shit back in those days mostly with horse and dogs excrements.

I assume for the same reason I wear button up dress shirts despite being suffocated by buttoning up the collar. Because we think it makes look drop dead sexy. Being beautiful is painful, and I am quite fond of my appearance.

Hey, that's not @Absurdo_N... he's slacking!

Topically, I don't feel pressured to wear them.
I like the way I look in them, they make long legs look nice, but now I have permanently shortened calf muscles.

I started wearing them young, and fairly high, and later I was on my feet all the time partying and at work, so by 21 my calf muscles were doooone. I already walked on the front of my feet all the time anyway, so it's just a little inconvenient. Have a hard time comfortably wearing most flats now, though, since my leg is basically in a dorsiflexed position when I do.

Edited for readability.
Edit #2: I didn't necro this, by the way! The post above mine was deleted.

Because they want to, they should have the freedom to use the things they want.

They look nice, are pretty hot, give convidence, work on specific ocassions or are even expected on others.

Personally I wore heels once [I think] for a longer event, my feet were dying after and I needed to "train" myself to walk in them for few days, so I wouldn't kill myself on a straight route. [and it worked as I danced, ran and jumped in them] - still I'm not a fan of heels and they aren't cheap and I hate spending money on clothes XD, also I don't feel anything from appearing taller, so I'm kinda indifferent to them.

Probably to look taller, appear more stylish, and to look/feel more confident and dominant.

I also very rarely ever consider high heels to be a hotness-enhancer. You would have to look and feel attractive first in order for the high heels to actually make you look hotter.

if a 6'3" goddesses in 8-inch stilettos wants to dunk on Giannis, I say let her do it, he had a good run.

But seriously, women wearing skyscraper heels isn’t about compensating for height, it’s about owning it. According to women themselves, it’s a power move, heels are meant to walk all over the history of oppression against women by men.

As others have said, they look good, makes us look good, it's nice to feel taller, can give confidence and not all heels are the same, some are a lot more comfortable than others. I rarely wear high heels, but when I do I feel good despite the pain. I also like the noise if it isn't an occasion that makes me feel awkward for being so noisy.

Besides that, there are beauty standards and society expectations so there are women that wear them because they don't want to be judged for not wearing them or because they are used to the idea of wearing them being a must.

Why do women wear high heels?

Because they see other women wearing high heels, so they do the same to meet the beauty standard. I don't like high heels though, they are overly impractical for walking and unhealthy for the body, so not wearing them is a major green flag, because it shows the women has the right priorities:

Health > Practicality > Beauty

It's mostly for style reasons. Sometimes to feel more attractive, or to fit into an event where women are expected to wear heels. A lot of women feel more confident in heels, and that also leads to them having higher success with flirting with men. Height can be a factor, but tall women wear heels too, and some tall women even complain about heels making them too tall, that they want the aesthetics of heels without having to tower over men.

As a crossdressing man I like the feeling of heels. I like the aesthetic, I also kind of like the challenge of wearing them since flat shoes are a lot easier to wear. Heels can get you into the mood of a specific event and remind you of your outfit any time you try to walk.
