| THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- Eh? That's it? Really? A very expected outcome really. MC going to sacrifice himself for the sake of others. It's a good closure, but there's nothing too big about this manga. Nothing much is eventful other than the puppet catching them one by one, after that it pretty much the cliche prophecy savior trope and sacrificing oneself for others cliche. |

| Finally finished it after picking it up in 2016 and have to say the ending left me shockingly and deeply unsatisfied. I felt the rest of the manga was pretty well done and the horror/survival elements were both unique and compelling. Suddenly the author is telling me all that build up is leading to a prophecy and it just doesn't work the same. The idea of a puppet master who watches over another world for a century before passing down their role to someone from earth is cool, but as the ending to, up to this point a survival-horror manga, is abhorrently misguided. It also left a sour aftertaste as the MC's sacrifice isn't expanded on, just a bittersweet goodbye that doesn't show what the sacrifice meant to either party. It was interesting to see the recorder individual who oversees things after, but it didn't really help in that department either. Anyway... felt quite rushed and we never really get a sense for why the sacrifice matters beyond a couple characters expressing grief near the end. However, I felt the majority of the manga was good enough to warrant a 6/10! |
