tragic beginning triumphant ending

Hello everyone! So I am looking for an anime which basically is the story of someone who had a very tragic story (it can be right from the start or still experiencing it til the middle of the story). The MC must have a tragic experience enough that even cold-hearted people would sypmathize. The story must have romance (preferably the heroine also contributed to his bad experiences). It can be fantasy action or anything as long as these things are there. Lastly of course must have a happy ending and great character development.

Some stories that have the kind of "tragedy" I am looking for

*Kimi no Iru Machi

*Guilty Crown

*Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu

somehow similar

*Cross Ange

*Kaze no Stigma

And some other similar to those above on my list.

-K- Mc starts off as this white king that is the target of all the other gangs (red, blue, green, etc)
-Koutetsujou no Kabaneri- MC gets bitten by a zombie creature (who's name can only remind me of bacon pasta lol) and is ostracized by people from his own village before they have to move out
-Mayoiga- All the characters have some past they are escaping from when they join a bus tour to a remote village to start life anew
-Prison School- 4 boys in an all girl school are thrown into a reformation program almost as soon as they get their and must perform grueling tasks to gain their freedom again- if the girls will even let them their freedom
