This anime is obviously supposed to be a parody of anime/manga from the early 2000s or late 1990s. But i'm wondering if this is inspired from any specific anime/manga from that period.
Does anyone have any idea?

You probably got your answer by now, but for the most part, the OVA resembles the then popular works of Ken Akamatsu, Creator of Love Hina and Negima for example. You could say that generic High-school-harem-romcoms were the most popular kind of show back then in a similar way of how flooded the market is with generic Magic-High-School-Light-Novel-Adaptations or Mecha-Space(Opera) Shows ruled the 80s and early 90s.
There is nothing terribly wrong with feeling lost, so long as that feeling precedes some plan on your part to actually do something about it. Too often a person grows complacent with their disillusionment, wearing their discomfort like a favorite shirt - Johnny C.
