| That rack focus was an amusing way to pull the old tomboy reveal, especially since it used the exact same shot shortly before. I think that ship had sailed by the actual time it tries to do the reveal. |
| I agree that a child should not be a dingo because it's dangerous. But then Lag just says "I can't let a girl do something that dangerous!" He is just twelve, so I won't rag on him. It makes me wonder though, if his attitude of being arguably overprotective of women comes from the fact that his mom was taken from him at such a young age. That would make this a lot more interesting than the chivalrous white knight trope. And it would be a pretty tough call for him to make, too; whether to allow himself to keep a friend by his side, or to have that friend tucked away somewhere safe. I think Nelli is a pretty cool character, she is pretty impulsive but I appreciate the attempt at a morally grey but still relatable character. Also, her parents didn't exactly get creative with naming their children, god bless their souls. So is Lloyd a shit? Why does Jiggy want to own Niche? There are probably more pieces to the puzzle, so I shouldn't judge too soon. I interpreted the timing of the reveal as the moment Lag registered Nelli as a girl, so it wasn't necessarily for the audience's sake. Also, the name of that term is oddly fitting for this situation. |

| This anime is captivating... the world design is a fascination. I love the tall and dark gothic church tower. The medieval villages are shabby and desolate looking and the people are all very weird. They have even created a unique writing script. I love the hats everyone wears, those are one of my favorite hat styles... So these bridge crossing passes might as well be currency in this world. They are obviously more valuable than gold. The background music gets very interesting, as the scenes get more desperate. When Nelli gets to the gothic gate of that city with the light, it's visually a shock as the gate is in a dark shadow. This anime is a unique experience. The roughness of the animation adds to the charm. |
