Looking back to it, I think one of the big problems was that it was shoujo-esque series that tried to sell itself in a more shonen-oriented magazine. At least, that's what I get when I take a look at Jump SQ's other titles.
I'd been wondering about it really being a shounen manga ever since she became girly too fast. The story also turned into one about love more than about sports and friendship.
Anyway, I've been looking for the last chapter (the 11th) but haven't found it. In stead, I did found a pretty good synopsis of it in http://ameblo.jp/harady15/entry-10393537854.html (in Japanese)
Here is my poor translation:
act.11 The answer reflects from the ice
Masaki makes it just barely in Tokyo tournament and East Japan tournament and decides to aim for a place in the All Japan Junior tournament.
Kaoru, who comes home and meets Masaki all of a sudden, is grieving for the death of his long-time coach and pulls himself out of that junior tournament. Masaki decides to skate in the tournament in order to get her thoughts through to Kaoru.
At the tournament place, Masaki takes Saaya to see Mika. Mika apologises about Saaya's injury and saying horrible thing(s). Saaya forgives her and they are friends again.
Unlike Saaya and Mika, who are in first and second places after the short program, Masaki gets a very late start.
Masaki asks Kaoru by email to come and see Masaki's free skating on the next day and see what Masaki has to tell him.
Kaoru is watching when Masaki plays Robin Hood in free skating. Masaki plays the role in a lively way to tell him that being on ice is amazing and figure skating is fun.
Kaoru gets the message in a few minutes and remembers the kind of skating he likes himself.
Saaya is first and Mika is second. They don't realize it for the most part, but Masaki's performance gets Kaoru to skate again.
Kaoru is interviewed for winning the world championship three years later.
Mika goes and visits Masaki to encourage her because Masaki tries to avoid publicity and is nervous.
Kaoru comes to Masaki with a necklace and attaches it around her neck.
Having given her best performance as the world's women's champion the year before, Saaya ends her career as a figure skater.
Masaki and Saaya have become a bit alike after growing up as rivals in the rink, thinking about the other. Now the time for Masaki to perform has come.
The story ends with:
"Being on ice is like being in another world. It is like a dream stage where you can meet your ideal self."
