Well what was everyone thinking? I was thinking something like two people looking into computer screens (side view) facing each other if that makes sense. Since we are doing this over computer after all.

Ardamaeus | Feb 6, 2012 1:25 PM
I can make a club picture if you guys want, although maybe we should discuss what should be in it and whatnot.

opernlied | Feb 6, 2012 1:24 PM
Yeah, I was wondering that too. I can't think of anything besides a bunch of random pictures I have. I offer something like this as a possibility (because Watashi is always relevant):

zawa113 | Feb 6, 2012 1:09 PM
Man, can anyone here think of/make a good image for our club picture?

Alcoholicide | Feb 5, 2012 3:47 PM
Everything about the club-wide projects in the Thread please.
That aside Galaxy Express 999 is also a movie I'd like to see and have ready to go on my harddrive.

zawa113 | Feb 5, 2012 3:27 PM
I'm personally looking for someone to help me out with series already on my computer waiting, in particular, I have Gallery Fake, Rose of Versailles, and Kemenozume. When I delete them after I'm done watching them, I will have room for more! If you look on my ptw list, you'll see things with the tag "ready to go", those are my priority because, well they are ready to go.

I'd definitely say a movie for a club-wide watch, you only have to coordinate one time. I've been wanting to watch Galaxy Express 999, that's an older movie and most of us here seem to want to watch some older stuff.

Alcoholicide | Feb 5, 2012 3:18 PM
I'm personally absolutely clueless concerning IRC or even the MAL Updater (do I even know what that is? ^^). So anyone feel free to prepare a channel for the club, I'd be grateful, but I can't help in this department.

opernlied | Feb 5, 2012 3:07 PM
Yeah, "movie events" would work. There are plenty of older titles to choose from.

I would personally also vouch for some use for IRC (that is to say, at least a channel for the club). The MAL Updater live chat uses it, but it seems to not work, for me at least.

Alcoholicide | Feb 5, 2012 3:03 PM
Yeah, that sounds like it would work well. I think it's best to open a Thread for it, which I will proceed to do after this comment.

Dunky | Feb 5, 2012 2:54 PM
Well, the way I've done it in the past, and a way that I think is just as effective, is that a group of people will decide on the rate at which they will watch a certain number of episodes for each day, each 2 days, each week, or whatever time period, and then within that time period each person will watch and comment on those episodes. It's really not much different from watching it at the exact same time, and it allows for larger groups of people to join in and discuss it. Though, movies will definitely be something easier to coordinate, so I can see those being watched at the exact same time.

Sandileina | Feb 5, 2012 2:51 PM
That makes a lot of sense. I think a film would definitely be a good bet lol, though it might be tricky finding one that no-one's watched?

If anyone wants to simul-watch with me, please feel free to drop me a profile comment or whatever. :3 I'll try to remember to check the club wall but I strongly suspect I'll forget... xD;; So yeah. Peace.

I just wanted to say that I don't think more than 3 people should watch one series together for administrative reasons (it would become very hard to find time where everyone is available).
I was more thinking of this club like a market for opening a couple of individual sessions with 2 or 3 people.
Just to clarify that it's not necessary that we are all on the same page concerning our preferances. Of course we could try to watch a series with all the club members too at the side, just to see if it works ^^.

For example I would like to watch Oban Star Racers before February ends, while I have no hurry with the oldies.

@Envoy: If you watch Yugo up to episode 4 we can watch the rest together, I don't know why I am postponing it anyway, it's quite enjoyable. And Master Keaton & Gallery Fake are both even better so I'd say it's good to start with Yugo.
I would probably also be interested in the Cyborg 009 movie.

A movie would probably be the best choice for a club-wide simul watch. what do you say?

Ardamaeus | Feb 5, 2012 2:19 PM
I feel like I should get out of my comfort zone since I do have somewhat of an aversion to sports anime and old anime that doesn't look good aesthetic-wise, so whatever the majority votes on, I'll just go with that.

opernlied | Feb 5, 2012 1:50 PM
I'm particularly leaning towards Yugo the Negotiator as nobody has watched that and seems similar to Gallery Fake and Master Keaton.

opernlied | Feb 5, 2012 1:47 PM
Where to start...

Well, the titles that I currently have on "high priority" (not high on the PTW, but I have them downloaded and they're piling up my backlog) are:

Zipang, Yugo the Negotiator, Yamato, the 1966 Cyborg 009 movie, Master Keaton, Gallery Fake, Nana, Nodame Cantabile, Banner/Crest of the Stars

Then are some OVAs and shorts, that mostly involve Studio 4C stuff or terrible OVAs.

Dunky | Feb 5, 2012 1:27 PM
@Higashi - Very good, looks like we can definitely find something to watch together in the near future. I might be interested in watching something at a very slow rate, I'll see what everyone else shows interest in first.

Oban Star Racers is one I would also like to check out.

Alcoholicide | Feb 5, 2012 1:12 PM
@Sandileina: From those you listed in your comment I've seen all but Pandora Hearts and Oban Star Racers - but I'm very interested in watching the latter and already have it downloaded and ready. So if you want to we can start in the next few days. We should discuss the details via profile comments though. We're in the same time zone too, so that should be no problem.

@Dunky: I'm also very interested in watching the classics, especially Star Blazers and Mysterious cities of gold, star blazers I already have downloaded and ready.
If you're busy but still interested we could start out with like one session a week or so.

Takarajima does sound awesome btw, like a mixture of One Piece, Hunter x Hunter and Future Boy Conan - thanks for the rec!

Sandileina | Feb 5, 2012 12:45 PM
Oh man I would totally rewatch OoFuri lol but I'll stick to shows I haven't seen for now. xD

I'd simul-watch any of the 50 on my PTW, because goddamnit I need to get round to them. Particularly Mononoke, Oban-Star Racers, Juuni Kokuki, Pandora Hearts, Gankutsuou, Ergo Proxy and Haibane Renmei.

I have a particular fondness for things with historical elements. I'm in the UK atm and suck at staying up late, so, yeah. xD Time zonesssssssss. Uni work should be relatively light through February so that's not a problem.

Good club, Higashi-san. *thumbs-up*

Dunky | Feb 5, 2012 12:34 PM
Hey. I would join you this month but I will be busy. I'm mostly interested in watching the classics at the moment. There's a few I would be interested in simul watching: Star Blazers, Space Runaway Ideon, Mysterious Cities of Gold, Space Adventure Cobra to name a few.

You know what I think a good one would be to watch for you? Takarajima (Treasure Island), it's about the next closest thing to Future Boy Conan, and it's quite addicting. Finding someone to watch it with you could be a problem though. It's a great adventure anime I tell you.

Alcoholicide | Feb 5, 2012 12:18 PM
Hi guys.

I'll just be frank and say that I'm currently interested in simulwatching either

- a sports series like OOkiku Furikabutte, Suzuka etc..
- or some old classic like Uchuu Senkan Yamato, Captain Harlock (already seen the first 12 episodes) or something along those lines.
- but I'm also always up for some mature mystery seinen series, though I've probably seen all the best of those.

I'd prefer to start and finish in February, because I don't have university this month. Concerning weekly schedules I'm almost always free, time differences should also be no problem.

Whoever feels like it can just post their preferences too :)

I'll add more details to the club later.
