First start with the 2 anime seasons before the movie. The chibi side story Haruhi-Chan can be watched w/o any knowledge of the characters (though it's made for fans, obviously). As for the 2 anime seasons, you can watch them by release dates or by chronological order. More details are explained in the series' MAL page. Also, the movie reveals something to do with a certain arc that annoyed A LOT of fans (not me, though) from the 2nd season. Other than that, you can start by looking up The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya.

@JohnnyBme You should start from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu then season 2 and then the movie Suzumiya Haruhi no Shousitsu.

Can someone help me? there are so many different harui suzomia shows on mal, and I don't really understand where should i start from? what is the first one? them japanese words are confusing

Thank you everyone for letting me know that there is a spin-off appearing! I am so happy! Hopefully, this will cause animators (like KyoAni) to make season 3.

They had better bring back Minori Chihara! Her Yuki's eargasmically cute! Maybe this will fund for more Haruhi anime. Let's hope.
