Maybe there was some kind of time-lapse where otonashi didn't get to purgatory before kanade or it could have something to do with the wish |

Hmmm, first, you should use spoiler tag for plot reveal of other shows, its not nice to spoil something like that. On your question: Its kinda hard to explain this. My opinion is that there is something that has to happen to get there( idk what). Or maybe it is wish related. Since Kanade needed him for the wish, he couldnt get in that world before her. If he come there first and fulfill his wish then Kanade would ended up in that world forever. Or maybe its not time related, its been a while since i watched it so i dont remember in what year did rest of character lived in. Im sure we will find more about this in VN |

Shouldn't Otonashi be in that afterlife before Kanade even showed up if he died and his heart was donated to her? Seems like she was talking like she was still alive and his heart was the reason. |
