Oh my god, this was painful to sit through. Let me start off by saying there are absolutely zero redeeming qualities for what I just watched. The other hentai anime that I've watched on this bottom 100 list have had at least some kind of small glimmer of hope in them, but Offside Girl... is simply irredeemable.

First, let's start with the story. It's a fairly generic & boring hentai tale that doesn't do anything special or original. It's simply people having sex without any kind of weird or strange stuff thrown into the mix. It revolves around a girl becoming the manager of a soccer team, and falling for this guy named Akira... that's about it. It completely failed to impress me, but I suppose the writers could have done worse.

However, when it comes to "the worst", I think we have a clear winner here, in terms of animation. The animation is incredibly limited, consisting entirely of still-frames that are either static or being manipulated in some fashion. There's absolutely no real animation here, everything looks as simple as some lame hentai flash animation that you'd find on the internet. I'm somewhat in disbelief that they actually had the gall to package this and it as a DVD, and I feel sorry for the poor saps who actually purchased it.

As for the art, it's also not very good, consisting of crude linework, and poorly done backgrounds. The main focus, the characters don't look too bad in some shots, but I wouldn't exactly say they're drawn well.

As for the audio, the sound effects sound really amateurish and the music is really shitty and off-putting. The voice acting is pretty standard for a hentai anime. Lots of moaning and whatnot. They do a good job with that, but it's really not enough to save this pile of trash.

I recommend that nobody even bother wasting their time with this, not even out of curiosity. It's that bad. Seriously.

I give it a 1 out of 10.

Gosh, Cipher is such a strange work.

There's a guy named Cipher, and a guy named Siva, and they're both... twins or something? Nothing is really explained about their relationship to each other or what is even going on in the film. One of them is a movie star making a football film, that's about all I got out of it.
None of the characters are introduced very well (or in some cases at all), as there's very little dialogue in the film, and the dialogue that is there is done through an interview-like style that doesn't actually say much about them.

The film literally just ends up being a few different music videos that feature the same characters, strung together by these interview segments. These music videos have a certain amount of charm to them, featuring 80's music and being somewhat fun to watch.

The art is pretty nice too. I like how they portrayed New York, and the character designs look alright, despite being pretty standard for that era.
The animation is nice enough, but for an OVA in 1989, it does seem a bit lacking compared to the other stuff that was coming out then.

Overall, Cipher feels like wasted potential. The whole film feels more like an extended intro to an 80's movie, and the last scene of the film feels more like it should be the first scene after the opening credits. However, the film just kind of ends, right as it feels like it's about to begin. It's really bizarre.
If this had been longer and we got more dialogue and an actual story played out, then this could have been a pretty interesting way to start a movie, but as a work on it's own, it just falls really short, and fails to deliver on the loose premise that they set up.

Despite that, I can't say I despised it...

Thus, I give it a 3 out of 10.

Much like Yoji Kuri's other work, this is a short with an abstract art style that tries to pretend like it's saying something deep or meaningful, but is instead just a bunch of random nonsense.

*sigh* I'm getting really sick of watching all of this drivel that he put out, but at least there's not very much more of it left.

In any case, I give it a 1 out of 10.

Man... this was just... poor. Really poor.
The animation was really badly done, looking like something some amateur web designer would make in Flash for a web page intro.
The music was uninspired and didn't sound good at all.
The art and design of the whole thing felt very digital and mathematical, everything being created with shapes instead of being drawn by a person...

There really isn't any story to be had here, which I guess is to be expected from a music video... However, they don't even try to tell a tale. This is more like the intro to a web series that doesn't exist... and it's not even a good intro at that.

I didn't mind watching it, probably because it was short... but I really can't find anything good to say about it either.

That's why I give it a 1 out of 10.

This one is more akin to a student project than any kind of professional thing.
It isn't bad persay, it's just kind of a waste of time altogether.

Not much else to say about this, there really isn't much to it, overall... it's just some unimpressive claymation.

I give it a 2 out of 10.

Well, I'm now halfway through my list (except for that one music video I couldn't find anywhere).

In any case, this is the exact middle of the list, and the entry is an OVA film called "Crystal Triangle"
I can't say I hated it. I didn't especially enjoy it, either, though.

The story is fairly uninspired, filled with a mish-mash of standard plotlines that have been seen again and again. The film also jumps around a bunch, changing it's tone left & right, never sure exactly what it wants to be. The story seems more like it's just there as an excuse for cool-looking things to happen on screen.

The characters are also fairly uninspired, and are really boring to watch on screen. They're not interesting at all, and seem very unmemorable. Their voice actors do an average job, with line delivery that is satisfactory, but didn't blow my socks off.

The sound design is very much on par with other anime of the era, but it doesn't go above and beyond. The same can be said about the soundtrack, which isn't bad nor good, just kind of there.

The art & animation hasn't held up as well as some other anime from the mid to late 80's, but it still has it's moments. Most of them being in the last half of the film.

Overall, Crystal Triangle is a boring film that isn't offensively bad, but doesn't have much going for it, either. While it fails overall, it does have it's few good points. However, even it's best moments are only "good" never reaching a level of "great".

I give it a 5 out of 10.

The Bathroom

Koji Yuri, a terrible, terrible filmmaker, who's work is so bad that I haven't been able to find redeeming from any of the films of his I've seen thus far. The Bathroom is no exception to this.

Even though The Bathroom is a bit different from his other work, in that it's done entirely in stop motion, it's still just as random and nonsensical, portraying various events happening in a single location, without any meaning or structure behind them. This time it's a single apartment room where various things are happening that make no sense. Sometimes these include real people, other times they include little hand-drawn guys on cardboard cutouts or paintings on the wall.

There's also a brief interlude in the middle of the 10-minute film, which appears to be from one of his art exhibits. This is also inter-cut with shots of drawings he did of piranas biting a man's penis... as well as biting the tits off of a lady... I mean, of course, right?

You know, I was never really sure how Koji Yuri was received by critics before, but I think this film has given me a bit of insight into that. It's a bit disappointing that people back then actually went to look at his art work and enjoyed it. I really do wonder how big of a following he had in the 70's, despite being a talent-less hack, but I digress.

This was a complete waste of 10 minutes, and is not worth viewing whatsoever. Like the rest of his work, you should just avoid it like the plague.

I give it a 2 out of 10.

Hey there, everyone, it's time for another entry in my trek through the bottom 100 anime of the site. This time, I watched Vampire Wars.

Vampire Wars is an OVA made at the end of 1990, and it's pretty standard for that era. The animation is passable, and even looks nice in places, but it's nothing too mindblowing. The story, while not overly complex or impressive, remained entertaining throughout. The characters, while not notable, iconic, or memorable... were written well enough to be interesting.

It's actually kind of baffling to me how this OVA is in the bottom 100 when it actually managed to be entertaining. Hell, I probably wouldn't even be opposed to watching it again, although I don't think I'd do so willingly. Still, that's more than I can say for a lot of the other entries on this list thus far.

While it's not spectacular, I would still recommend Vampire Wars to anybody who's looking for a decent little private detective tale with a bit of vampire juice mixed in.

I give it a 6 out of 10.

Idol Fighter Su-Chi-Pai II is apparently based on a Mahjong game series by Jaleco. I've never played the games, so I had no real frame of reference going into this.

The plot is thin, but it basically involves the collecting of nine different Mahjong tiles. However, you won't know this until the very end. The storyline throughout the episode itself is slapdash and likes to jump around to different scenes without any real transition or explanation why. It spends most of it's time introducing each new character.

The characters weren't terrible, but weren't anything too original, either. The acting for them was done well, and they were fun to watch on screen, but they're all such typical characters that it's hard to find any of them interesting or memorable.

Overall, this wasn't good by any means, but it had it's moments. The animation was acceptable and on-par with other productions at the time of it's release... and while the characters are stereotypical, they still manage to be written decently enough to have a laugh or two.

I give it a 4 out of 10.

It has been quite a while since I've watched anything in my bottom 100 challenge list, and even though my bottom 100 list was compiled almost one year ago, I recently thought I should get back into it.

This time, I watched a short, 2 minute music video. This was one entry that I skipped on my list the first time that I got to it, as I couldn't find any place to watch it. However, somebody has recently reuploaded it to YouTube, so I was able to take a gander at it.

The music video consists of a tiny bird-like, almost chicken-like monster running around without much purpose. There isn't much of a story here, it's really mostly just a video to go along with the music. However, I'd also say the music is not really to my liking. It's not catchy, but it sounds like the kind of song that should be. By that, I mean there's not much complex instrumentation, and it sounds like the simple kind of tune that could get stuck in your head, but for whatever reason just doesn't and thankfully only ends up being annoying for the duration of the video.

The animation kind of looks like shit, but is still intriguing. It is mostly limited animation using still-frame photographs. However, there's also a bit of stop-motion techniques put in there, which makes it seem rather unique and creative... innovative, even. Unfortunately it's only innovative in concept, though... as the end result just looks like a total mess (and not in the good way).

Overall, It's an interesting idea for a music video, but in practice it ultimately fails to deliver on all of the ideas it has... and it's something that I wouldn't want to watch again or would recommend to anybody.

I give it a 2 out of 10.
