You know, I find it kind of interesting. I've seen many people become so obsessed with wanting to watch a series in the order of the events that happen within the show.

I never understood this.
Often times, prequels require a knowledge of the original material to be appreciated on their own, even if within the story, it chronologically takes place beforehand.

I'm in the camp of people who would much rather want to watch a series in the order it's been aired.

I feel like if I stick to the airing order going between different shows and OVAs, the arc of the story usually tends to make more sense, as often times, more is revealed to the viewer that they would have already known, even if the events take place beforehand.

One example: I would never watch "Rurouni Kenshin: Trust and Betrayal" OVA before watching the "Rurouni Kenshin" TV series, even though it is a prequel.

What does everybody else think of this?

So, I've recently noticed that anime usually falls into three different categories for me:

1) Anime that I like to watch after just waking up, while drinking coffee or eating breakfast.

2) Anime that I enjoy watching in the middle of the day, usually while eating lunch.

3) Anime that I enjoy after it's already gotten dark outside. To stick with the theme, I'll just call this "dinner anime" but I tend to also watch these shows late at night, around midnight or later sometimes.

I first came to this realization recently while I was going through three very different shows. Moyashimon, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and Ergo Proxy.
I would tend to wake up, watch an episode of Moyashimon, go on with my day, watch an episode or two of JoJo during lunch time, and when night fell, I'd watch one or two episodes of Ergo Proxy.

To me, it just wouldn't feel right watching those shows at any other time of day. Since then, now I've been searching for shows to specifically fill a time-of-day.

I find it interesting that the tone of a show can affect what time of day I prefer to watch it at. I wonder if anybody else feels similarly.
