Such a great idea, and had the such potential for incredible characters, plot-twists and lore. And it just sadly failed to fill any of them out satisfactorily. So many times i'd watch a scene think 'YES! This is good!' and then they'd throw in some stupid stunt or unnecessary character development which just ruined it. Flipping Malek, and Hermann's random 'It must be xxx's fault or 'zzz's fault just became irritating and unnecessary. Amanda would be like 'oh he's not bad' when conveniently EVERYBODY else wanted to blow their heard off.
An amazing idea, disappointingly executed. The director simply bit off more than he could chew and created something beautiful but more complicated than he could handle properly. Hermann's character gave me such hope! His character development was actually good! And clearly the show had some brains behind it as Al's flipping 2nd death was so close to be a soul-crushing heart-wrencher. But it wasn't cause you knew he was going to die, and that everyone was going to die, and probably die twice? Why? Cause that was this shows only way of trying to make itself a less miserable pile of shit. Ending made me want to drown in my own vomit. A Piss poor excuse of an anime that started so well and succembed to 'MORE DRAMA MORE TEARS WA WA" And tried so hard to be all emotional, original and exotic that it fell flat on its face and just made is horrendous efforts laughable. I find this show more painful to watch than an obese lady caught in an elevator door, and funnier in it's pathetic-ness. I Usually am quite forgiving of animes that try very hard to accomplish their goal, even if they fail in the process. What i found inexcusable about Blassreiter is the sheer quality of the material they had to work with, and how it was blatantly treated horribly! It's like shitting in Van Gogh's paint, or cutting half of Mozart's piano strings! ITS BLASPHEMOUS. Someone, please take this pile of crap, nuke it like they tried to Germany, and remake it. Look at FMA and how it upgraded to FMAB or Hellsing's upgrade to Hellsing Ultimate! ITS DOABLE and if you do, make amanda and Joseph get together, that or actually make Snow something of a character other than. 'LOL ASSPULL BACKSTORY SHIT TO SAVE MAIN CHAR.' |

Charlotte
This show, like many others of Maeda's, particularly AB, received a lot of criticism for being 'to short' or 'rushed'. And from that the obvious pointing out of perceived plot holes (which I will certainly admit there were). However many of the complaints fail to grasp a simple concept that I think explains the show perfectly. Charlotte is not a Story, nor a Novel. It is a short-story. An idea that posed a question, and the show was made to answer that question. (the question would be a spoiler however, but it should be obvious).
Because of this, if we are to appreciate Charlotte for what it attempts to accomplish, the rise of a young, cruel boy using a small power to get up in the world, to a (SPOILER) god-like being, and all the romance and pain that is involved, can we really criticise it? Does it not accomplish what it sets out to do excellently? Yes it is short, and yes it is rushed. But is it epic? Yes. Is it moving? (AYUUUU!!!!) Yes. Then how can we complain, for it's obvious that was what it set out to be in the short time allotted it. |
