These little Gundam specials they make are hits and misses.

This one is defiantly a hit!

Complete fan service short. Great animation of just a bunch of Gundams and Mobile suits Flying around shooting and stuff with each other Looking bad ass. Whats not to like about this quicky? No bad attempt at a poor story no disappointment just action.

6 Afro Samurai
This is a good anime but gave it just above average score for a few reasons.
1. I really think they should have made this series longer. 10 episodes at-least I think would have been good. This would have allowed for them to get deeper into the story of Afro.

2. The fight scenes are a little hectic for me. they are cool but the juttery camera angles and angles they do in general i found annoying at times. Some of the fight scenes in general go by to fast.

7 Afro Samurai: Resurrection
I liked this sequel better than the series. I often wish they had point scores Cause Resurrection is defiantly a bit better than just a 7 more like 7.8

It's about the same as the series. The animation is visually stunning and I enjoy the elements they slam together. But as a whole product its just not stunning.

I did like the story better this time round. The hour and half storyline ran more smoothly this time around. I felt the ending was a little rushed though. The reason it didn't get an 8

I also thought the fight scenes were done better. less juttery and a little bit longer fights.

8 Akira
Akira is defiantly a masterpiece. It deserves the title of anime legend. But having read the manga I must put the movies score as a 9

I personally think the over all story could have been a bit better but its a few other things that push it to masterpiece.
The animation and art style are amazing. I prefer the older art styles over the new style nowadays.
I love the small details on the buildings ,backgrounds, characters etc.
On the English dub the lips didn't exactly match up sometimes. But after checking the subtitles on the Japanese I very much appreciate that they didn't change the script to make the lips fit. the characters said what they were suppose to. ( which is nice cause I personally couldn't handle the subtitles in this movie lol)

But what got me the most in this movie is the sound! I don't think I've heard the use of sound so well in another anime as Akira. Akira uses perfect sounds , phenomenal background music that adds to the mood, and the places they use sound and lack of sound is just amazing. I particularly liked When Tetsuo Jumped up to take down the Satellite there was no sound in space. It added a bit of realism that most movies do not do.

9 Aldnoah.Zero
I decided to watch Aldnoah after happening upon some reading material about it. Honestly most of it was bad. But it intrigued me like it sounded so bad I had to see it.

First I read it was a Gundam rip off. Then I read about how it was extremely hyped but was a let down plus other bad comments. Having not known about the hype or even about Aldnoah I decided I had to watch from an outside view. Was it really that bad or people getting to excited ruining for them selves?

Well lets get down to it.
Story: 1 it is not a Gundam rip off. Getting tired of people claiming anything with mecha and space to be Gundam rip offs.
The story isn't anything mind blowing or inventive but good enough to build something on. One of the complaints I read was things just happen to happen. I have to disagree for the most part but a couple of moments do feel that way.
Something that bothered me was sometimes there seemed to be "time skips" like an episode would end with a character one place then the next episode would start with them somewhere else. Leading to some confusion.

The series seems to try and implant some science into what they are doing. The mechs having special powers or moves they explain with science. At least Aldnoah appears to be smart. I personally don't know for sure if everything they say adds up correctly. This can ether be annoying for those just looking for simple answers or neat for those that enjoy deeper explanations. The ending of season one does have a bit of a twist I would never guess coming at first.

Characters: I actually find the characters bland or very cliche. The man character having no emotions and being miraculous for no real reason. I personally didn't attach to a single character. Not caring about much at all.

Animation: I don't have much good to say about the animation ether. Its the super clean uninteresting new age style combined with CGI. The CGI of coarse is annoying not meshing with the rest of the world but Its not so bad its unbearable.

Music: I don't always add music a category but I needed to mention it for Aldnoah because it was done particularly well. As a whole it maybe only has 3 or 4 songs they use over and over but they are great. They add to the atmosphere perfectly when ever they are used. I happen to also love both the opening and ending themes.

End note: I might not have said a lot of good about Aldnoah, I didn't hype it much at all so why did it get a 7(good)? In the end it did the one thing it should do. made me want to watch. I intently wanted to watch the next episode every time wondering what was going to happen next? In the end I enjoyed watching Aldnoah and even with the surprise ending I left glad I watched.

10 Aldnoah.Zero Part 2
I watched Aldnoah season 1 and left happy so when Season 2 was all done and out there I had to watch it. Season 2 was a huge let down though. Let me get into why.

Season 2 of Aldoah Decided to take everything that made Aldoah worth watching and throw it away. I don't even know where to start. The story went from making sense and generally being interesting to a soap opera. The whole second season is way to dramatic and flip floppy. Right off the bat they showed they had no guts by immediately reversing the just ending of season 1. Inaho the main character was shot in the head. Right away they show that he did not die ( NO GUTS!) he lost an eye which was then replaced with an all powerful can do anything artificial eye. While yes the main character was annoying and could figure out any situation like Sherlock Holmes he was in no way invisible or seemed impossible. He gets this eye that can some how figure out everything making him feel god modded. They could get out of ant situation with out even trying.
In season 1 The story at least made sense season 2 makes no sense with stuff happening just for the sake of happening. Nothing feels like it has any consequence.
Characters aren't any better. In season 1 every character felt like they had at least a little importance not in season 2. Only Inaho the main character and Slaine the main villain feel like they have any importance. Every other character feels meaningless or flipped. Doing one thing in season 1 and another in season 2.
Even the animation seems like a let down. I wasn't a fan of the CGI and new age techniques before but was tolerable. In season 2 it feels like they dropped the budget and if not the flaws are glaringly obvious. The fight scenes went from strategic one on one battles in Season 1 to all out generic brawls in 2. They were boring and painful to watch.

The bottom line is Aldnoah. Zero had wicked potential building on season one then completely dropped the ball on everything. Starting from episode I did not watch a single episode in season 2. I had to force myself to watch all 12 episodes.

14 Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio: Ars Nova
Arpeggio of Blue Steel

I personally think this was a great series. I can completely understand why after a quick glance many people can toss it aside not bother with it. But after reading a great review about it decided to give Blue Steel a chance. That review was so right!

Concept/ story: I think the concept is interesting. But I guess it depends how much of a stickler you are for details. I like the idea of a mysteries species( the fog) coming out of no where and fighting man kind on a similar level ( using battle ships) and pushing us to the brink (tactics). Then the battle ships of the fog can form mental models( human shaped bodies) to represent the ships them selves was very neat.

Some people will ask and be annoyed: whats the fogs purpose? what about Gunzou's father? what happens after they deliver the war head?

I actually like how it seems like a little story with certain characters set within this universe. Its not some blown out epic with loop holes. Just feels like a tale.

The Episodes flow very nicely. They remain interesting. Its not just one bad guy fight after another or the same special attack beating them all. The fight scenes are great to watch.

Style: I will get this out of the way I know one of the biggest reasons and complaints against series like these is its CGI/ CGI mixed with animation. Truthfully I'm normally the first to condemn CGI! BUT to me this does not seem like your normal CGI. It has more of a cell shaded feel. Making it look more vibrant and all together organic.
I think the characters Are nice looking and varied. There is a few cosmetic choices I kind of tilted my head at though. I think the battleships are great looking. Very down to earth while adding just a few touches of "holy shit that's crazy looking!"

Characters: For a short series I think the characters are fairly deep. There reasons for doing things seem authentic and believable.
Except Hyuuga. She is my least favorite. To me she is annoying and I really just don't feel her reasons are believable.

Other: The music is pretty good and the main theme defiantly grew on me.
Some people consider this in "Harem" category. I honestly would not at all. Sure all the mental models are female but there are other male characters on the main crew. Also they all end up on the same side but they all have different reasons. Only two females are there for the main male character.
The episodes flow great. The last episode was done nicely. I do wish there was 1 more episode. Part of the last episode felt a bit rushed / unnecessary. If there was one more episode They really could have built up the drama and how psychotic, broken Kongou was with the last battle.

Anyways I highly recommend any one who kind of like military / battle type animes like gundam etc to give Blue steel a chance!

15 Appleseed (Movie)
I was in the mood for a movie gave Appleseed The Movie (2004) a chance. I was not surprised at the disappointment.

Animation 4/10 : If you know me then you know I hate CGI. I'm not going to get deep into it only just the lack of the characters showing emotion really hinders the movie.

Story 4/10: The story isn't really anything exciting. It kind of teeters back and forth between the two main characters relationship and this over enveloping story about the Bioroids and Humans. Its pretty cringe worthy all the way up until the end where some glimmer of an interesting story shines through. It felt like the story really had potential but wasn't fleshed out right.

keep in mind I haven't seen or read any other Appleseed sources

Extra Thoughts: The biggest thing holding back this movie is the voice acting. It is absolutely horrible. It all feels so detached. Almost as every character was recorder separately in one big go. " okay say this line. okay now this one" Rather than in like scenes or together. This leads to characters emotions not matching up or seemingly changing from one sentence to another.

Any ways to wrap this up Appelseed (2004) is worthless and a waist of time.

19 Bleach
Bleach the Dragon Ball Z for a new generation!

Okay here's the deal Bleach is too damn long! I tried to do a summary review and it felt like I was missing details. I tried to do a long review but it was impossible because bleach is so damn long. I was taking to long lost interest to far back.
So screw it I'm busting out a quick review bottom line.

Story Main 8/10
Filler 3/10: Story-wise all the arcs based on the manga great! All the filler arcs suck period.
To me the best Arc is the Arrancar arc. Technically its many arcs but its one set story in the time line so i count it as one.
In comparison to Dragon Ball Z.The Arrancar Arc is the best the one. After it is good. Just not as good. Like how the Cell Saga was great but to me the Buu saga was just kind of unnecessary or blah.

Animation Style: 8/10: I give bleach a solid 8. Its not ground breaking or artsy fartsy but its clean. It looks well no complaints. Design wise its fantastic. It has a uniqueness all its own. You see a bleach character you know its a bleach character. Talking about characters there is so many that its impossible not to like at least one.

Music 7/10: Bleach uses certain songs to create atmosphere during certain times. It has a nice soundtrack over all.

Final Thoughts:

If you want the full on up and down experience of Bleach watch all the episodes. If you want what can be considered the real Bleach experience skip the filler arcs. They can be a little tricky so look up an episode list. But if you are an action anime fan you owe it to yourself to give at least the good sections of bleach a chance.

20 Blood-C
A series with a reputation for heavy gore and unique monsters. I was intrigued. Quit disappointingly the two draw in points are the only thing the series has going for it.

When my brother told me about this series then showed me a gif of the bunny monster from towards the end we were both interested in watching Blood C. There was just something about the name that was giving me wicked deja vu. . . Well upon watching Blood c it became abundantly clear there wasn't much to this series pretty fast. None of the characters were all that great the story telling and plot were slow and blotting. Up until the battles. The battles from the fighting to the gore to the monsters them selves are entertaining as hell. It is literally the only thing worth anything in this anime. The monsters are great. With out meaning to they have way more personality then the human characters do. From their great forms to the sometimes hilarious actions/ responses. If anything the fight scenes make the series almost a must watch. About half way through that's when it hit me and I learned not in cannon but creation wise Blood C is related to Blood+. That show in itself right on the edge of my memory until C jogged my memory. Blood+ puts Blood C to shame. Sadly that's kind of the feeling through out. There is a similar show that does what this show does but better.

Final Thoughts: Blood C isn't really worth your time. But if you do have some free time give it a watch possibly, just to see the great fights.

21 Boku no Hero Academia
My Hero Academy is a unique Japanese take on the superhero genre. Normally anime/comic books are considered different categories, different entities. They tend to be a very similar but highly contrast as well. These two unique entities don't tend to crossover very much in their mediums.

First let's get straight to the story. Academia is interesting in a way that it starts already in the midst of super powered beings already existing. It focuses more on the ground work, young children wanting to become superheroes and how Society has adapted to superhero schools to train and teach these young Heroes. This isn't necessarily ground breaking but they try their hardest to adapt Japanese anime to conform with more of a western-style hero concept. This creates an interesting eastern view of a western genre.

The specific story Is about a young man who is not being born with superpowers but strives to become a superhero anyways. He ends up being bestowed super powers by the greatest hero of them all, All Might! As pointed out before general idea is superheroes being trained to become Pros. So the series has a more logical take on this concept. True to the Japanese way of doing things.

The art style. Now I wouldn't call the art style beautiful but it works very well for what they're going for. It kind of has a more bubbly Kiddy feel to it. I think this works well for the whole Western meets comics anime style. Not once did I watch this series and think "God damn does this look like crap!"

Final thoughts. At first when I started watching this series I didn't really know what to expect. Being a fan of both anime and Western Comics I know the feeling of both. But I didn't really know what to think about what they were doing. At first I felt the series was a little slow I didn't like the main character. He was a little too whiny and cry-e for my taste. he got over that and became endearing. The series became quickly entertaining and I overall enjoyed it. Now this is only season 1. 12 episodes sadly. But I believe they are doing more and I'm curious were they go from here. There's some word of mouth a bit of hype going around about My Hero Academy for a certain group it will be worth giving a watch and they will be excited for anymore that comes. For others it's going to be another anime, one that doesn't quit connect with them.

26 Bounty Dog: Getsumen no Eve
Again I find this to be another average throw away title. Good at filling in time.

The title gives you no hint at what the story is really about. In general the moon has what I would consider two avatars. Beings reprisenting it. One for the light and dark side. The dark awakening and it must be stopped by one man. The one with the artificial arm.
The story is simple yet complicated. Which could have been flushed out had it been longer.

The art style is very good and unique. The art its self very good. It has that really good old school feel. Though you can feel its date a bit expecially with the hair styles. What makes Bounty dog really unique though is the color schemes. One whole area will be one color pallette. For example pretty much all the moon scenes were just a yellow pallete.

The best part though is the music. It was all kinds of 80's epicness!

27 Brothers Conflict
Teenage girl moves in with 11 Step Brothers she's never met before! Ooh la la what kind of shenanigans will happen? If that's what you thought well then you have the same thoughts the creators did.

Brothers Conflict is about a girl whose father marries she is the forced to move into house with 11 step brothers she has never met before. All kinds of possibly taboo shenanigans pursue.

I'm a big fan of the openness of the Japanese people about certain topics. And I love series that have what is considered a taboo relationships in them. To Westerners step sibling relationships are extremely taboo. They are treated on the same line as blood siblings. Cousins as well. Japanese culture isn't so stingy. My question is how can no one acknowledge how tempting/hard it can be to control feelings for step siblings sometimes. Especially if you haven't known them your whole life. They're not related by blood now you have to treat them as if they're family and sometimes you can't help feelings for these brothers and sisters. Well that's what brothers conflict is all about and all the chaos that pursues.

This isn't some kind of raunchy men jokes type anime. This is actually a really cute tongue in cheek anime And being on the shorter side it's nice to watch. They lead up with deceptions. For example they make the girl the main character but there's stuff going on. It kind of made it look like he's the one that's being a little pervy and that the boys arn't actually doing anything. Like I believe they're twins and they both do acting and there's the scene were she comes out on the balcony. Sitting in the dark on the couch are the twins. They start confessing their love for each other. "I can't be without you. I don't want anyone else to have. you you can only be mine." Yada yada. Of course the girl is all of a sudden like oh man I don't think I was suppose to hear that eek! so another brother comes out into the hallway ask her what she's doing. He hears a couple fruity things. Eventually the boys come up and clear it all up that they were just acting. They were practicing for a part. stuff like this plus double entendres and weird word play really get you thinking some naughty stuff is going to happen while at the same time making the girl look like shes crazy and so are we for thinking the same. till eventually stuff does start to happen and half of the brothers do end up having crushes on the sister. And that's when the romance in the feuding begins.

My final thoughts, If you're into witty tongue-in-cheek jokes and those romantic animes the brothers conflict is a series worth giving a shot. It wont break ground or get you going but its nice watching a series you don't have to get invested in every once in a while.

30 Choujikuu Kidan Southern Cross
I watched this as part of the Robotech saga. I will be reviewing based on that.

Story wise I think it was a bit more convoluted compared to Macross. Most likely caused by the changes to make it "robotech".
Other than that it was a lot easier to watch than macross and more interesting.

I honestly dont think it has any unique characters or even interesting mecha designs really. The Hover tanks are alright. The fight scenes are moderate. They are alright no biggy. But really makes the series interesting is the characters are bat shit crazy. They make no sense really and tend to have interesting actions and interesting interactions with each other.
My brother and mines added commentary also helped a bit keeping the atmosphere light and not so heavy like macross.

God I love Studio Ghibli films and From up on Poppy Hill is no different!

From up on Poppy Hill is a simple teenage romance with a couple of surprising plot twists based in 1960 Pre-Olympics Japan. Its kind of hard to really describe the plot of Poppy Hill
but I truly enjoyed it and its double swerve!

The movie looks beautiful as always with Ghibli films. The beauty of real life is depicted fantastically. Its great to see a bygone time that's slowly being forgotten.

I personally didn't notice this was a Goro film. I only learned about it after seeing the film. I think people are a little harsh on this film. And I feel its because it was a Goro film. The story seems to be a major point. Just because there isn't dancing castles or talking animals doesn't make it any less magical. Its a somber realistic story that's beautiful.
Another hot point seems to be the soundtrack. Not every soundtrack is suppose to have stand out songs or a single that you pinpoint directly to the source material! Every song fit perfectly where it was within the film. They all added to the mood and feeling of the scene while not standing out, creating a whole rather than pieces.

Final Thoughts: I really like these more low key stories from Ghibli. They stand out against the fantastical magics that get all the attention. Watching From up on Poppy Hill is like eating comfort food. It may not blow your mind but it makes you feel warm and happy inside.

34 Cowboy Bebop
Cowboy Bebop is a classic and for good reason. The animation is gorgeous and flows freely. There is a bit of CGI but Bebop defiantly didn't fancy it. The characters are beautiful. Highly unique as well. They do an excellent job showing emotion and building each individual character . At some point in my life over the years that I have watched and rewatched Bebop all four of the main characters have been a favorite. That just shows the overall reach between age groups and mentalities of the show.
Trully the lasting appeal comes from the brilliant story. of Cowboy Bebop. Its the multilayer story telling that honestly encaptures me. The top layer being smooth action and comedy. The underlying layer is far more interesting. Bebop exploring concepts such as A.I. having sentinence, amnesia and the regaining of your past, to loving someone to good, and trying to escaping the inevitable. Better yet this is all up to interpretation including if the whole series even happened!
The fact that I've seen every episode dozens upon dozens of times and keep coming back for more shows how much I love Bebop. The brilliant combination of action, jazz, comedy, and excellent story telling into a space opera on top of being considered a classic is all the reasons anybody else should need to check out Cowboy Bebop!

35 Cowboy Bebop: Tengoku no Tobira
I gave Bebop the Movie a 6 but Honestly I'm not a big fan of it.

The over all feeling of the movie is not the same as the series. While the series had deeper under lying meanings the movie does not. Its just an action movie. The series ends pretty decisively forcing them to kind of make a movie that could easily have just been a long episode.
Even the over all theme of the movie doesn't fit in. The series was defiantly extravagant but everything was believable. It could have been easily any one in any of the main characters places a hacker, an ex cop, ex mobster ( basically) , and somebody with amnesia. Nothing about the series felt like the main characters were the chosen ones in an extremely specific epic. The movie on the other hand is exactly that a shallow story, that really shouldn't have had the crew involved, They had nothing to do with it, didn't need to get involved but they did. The basic story being a huge bio-terrorist attack it's way beyond there scope on top of no personal attachment or vendetta for any of the characters. They even try and throw in some personal bull crap claiming spike and the villain were one and the same. Which is a bunch of BULL! they are nothing a like! They are even opposites like two sides of the same coin type of thing. Not even close! The final nit pick is the damn music as well. The same band that did all the music for the series does the movie. All the music in the series no vocals other than the real folk blues. BUT in the movie every damn song has vocals. I hate it!

Pretty much the only saving grace of the whole movie is the action. Every single scene of action is phenomenal. Gets your heart pumping, Great visuals. All around awesome.

Final thoughts this is how I would recommend the movie. If you're not a wicked Bebop fan or just getting started with Bebop for the first time DON'T watch the movie. Skip it I highly recommend not watching it. It will taint the experience. If you are a wicked bebop fan, Somebody who already had the great Bebop experience. Somebody who is cool with watching the whole thing again. Throw the Movie in after episode 22. The movie is pretty much a break for your brain. Enjoy the action with no deeper motives before you get into the heaviness that is the end of Cowboy Bebop.

It has a odd mature sense of humor and a humor violence mix of action. if your looking for just a simple feel good no need to get sucked in anime this is it.

38 Deadman Wonderland
Deadman Wonderland is a good series with a few details holding it back from being really good or great.

The art is done well I think. Its crisp with out being that overly annoying crisp.
I love the movement of the characters and fight scenes are fantastic.

Love the opening theme!

The characters themselves are very interesting. There are a few stand outs of coarse Crow is bad-ass!

I have not read the manga so idk how it lines up but the series could have done better with more episodes. I feel like parts of the story are very rushed/ linear. Fallowing the main character moves from point A to point B to point C very rapidly. Oh Gantas in jail they do stuff to make money, Gantas in deadman fights does two move on now hes in a rebellion the end. With more episodes it would given them opportunity to explore characters deeper. There is a few that just drop in and out not explaining much. They never went in to Ganta finding out Shiro is wretched egg. There is a lot in the story that isn't flushed out.

Bottom line is Deadman Wonderland has a good story on the surface but not flushed out details. And the action is great.

I find this single episode ova about the Crow to be an absolute waste of money and time! I have no idea what possessed them to use money and time to create this!

The only reason I gave this a 5 is on the surface the little story is fine and the fighting is great of coarse.
BUT this OVA explains absolutely nothing! It creates only more questions and open ends that are not explained. I hate it half the story makes no sense its just another thing to show crow whooping ass.

Don't recommend this episode at all.

40 Death Note
I went in for a re-watch of Death Note. I only give it a 7. I don't know if this could be because its my second time watching making it loose some of its luster or not.

Death Note is a suspense thriller straight up. DN might have a bit of supernatural elements to set up the story but in no way does it use them to keep you watching. It uses the classic suspense thriller tricks to try and keep you watching.

The story itself has very little what I would consider "action". Its all about the twist and turns of capturing Kira. Kira is of coarse the main character. DN has its interesting points. It may be because I know how it ends but it feels like it loses a bit of its suspense. After about a quarter way through you know Kira is going to get out of every situation. He just out thinks everybody. Eventually it doesn't feel realistic as far as human actions go.

Death Note has an interesting premises and it's defiantly interesting enough for a watch.

Wow this anime was just bad. Just to get it out the way the animation is nice. Classic good stuff. But every thing else is just bad. Nothing makes sense. No background, no reasoning why anything is happening, its a whole 45 min of what the fuck? Honestly back when anime wasnt so popular I feel this is the kind of stuff outsiders would see and confuse the shit out of them asking why any one would like this stuff (anime).

45 Dimension W
Dimension W tight animation shallow with the details.

I do personally love the sci fi genre so when I saw the commercials for DW I got excited. Sadly in the end I found DW to be just mediocre.

Dimension W has really crisp animation. I fully enjoyed the animation and style of DW. Minus the occasional annoying CGI moments. Mira is one of the neatest looking robots I've seen in modern animes. Kyouma the main character has a great outfit I would love to have!

The premise of DW is interesting, a fourth dimension is found. This dimension gives infinite energy ( basically) used in the form of "coils". The main character Kyouma just so happens to be strongly against coils.
From there sadly it doesn't get any deeper. They casually introduce story concept after story concept but never flush anything out. Other than the very basic layer of whats going on I still don't what what the hell happened. That's the sad part, this show felt like it had such potential. It just stayed shallow. Which sucks because every story element introduced were extremely interesting. They all just begged to be flushed out. But with only 12 episodes the shallow route is the way they went.

Final thoughts: Over all Dimension W is just middle of the road. If you pass it by you wont miss anything but I can't advice not watching it ether.

47 Dragon Ball
I grew up watching Dragon Ball Z but I never quit got around to watching Dragon Ball. Well better late than never!

I'm saying it right now. Dragon Ball is way better than Dragon Ball Z! Its awesome!
DB is a bit more wild and adventurous than DBZ. Lot more animal people and other weird characters. You actually get introduced to the characters that get ignored or made to look like fools in DBZ. The great/sad part is they are actually major players in DB.
Yamcha for instance is a decent fighter and the main love interest of Bulma for the WHOLE series. It really shows how much of a crap move it was to have her hook up with Vegeta.
Tien as well he's an extremely strong fighter and a really interesting character. love the story and build on him.
Really them all Krillin is strong at first as well. But Master Roshi has to be my fav. He is so interesting. He plays a major role and gets flushed out so much though out the whole thing.

I truly enjoy the story better in Dragon Ball. It focuses more on them actually looking for the dragon balls or the World Tournament. The best part though is it flows so so much better. The whole series isn't bogged down with unnecessary stalling unlike DBZ. It really is the part that got me the most. I couldn't believe how nicely the episodes ran and the stories just moved along.

I have to say Dragon Ball is a bit darker than DBZ. At first it's not that way but eventually villains and Goku start taking people out brutally!
Dragon Ball has this wicked bad habit of making "Bad guys" or enemies in allies/ good guys after fighting and what not. It works for DB but it's also annoying as well.
Now for some random observations I had.

.They pretty much said Goku was an alien right off the bat with a random off comment by Bulma. " What are you an alien or something?"

. Krillin admitted he had hair. "Serious kung fu artist shave their heads"

I loved Dragon Ball it was great binge watch! I'm very disappointed the series didn't stay going that direction.

50 Dragon Ball Z Movie 15: Fukkatsu no "F"
Dragon Ball Z: Return of F continues the resurgence of Dragon Ball Z with another great movie.

DBZ fans can't really ask for a better resurrection of DBZ than what we've been getting! GT is no longer cannon, great production movies ( not like the money sucking crap pretty much the rest are), and a brand new series. The creators of the new DBZ have really been good at not taking the series to seriously. They stick with intense atmosphere and the general concept of DBZ but then have a very humorous side.

Return of F defiantly stuck with the same things that worked for battle of gods. Instead of making a new villain to try and out power Beerus a destroyer god they went back and gained one of the best if not the best villian of the DBZ saga, Frieza! Frieza gets brought back to life in a believable way to return even more powerful than he ever was!

Return of F was a fun roller coaster ride. The ups. The continuation of new Canon, great look , and something we haven't seen before. a Massive fight scene between the Z Fighters and a whole horde of Friezas henchmen. It is a killer of a scene!
The downs. (SPOILER) **they eventually set it up proving that Frieza even in his new form had no chance. This is kind of a bummer have all that build.** No more spoilers. then of coarse the biggest down is the heavy reliance on CGI in Return of F. There was CGI in Battle of Gods but not enough to really take away. In F it was reasonable for them to make the massive horde of henchmen CGI or even background characters. What really kills it for me though is the CGI looking power ups, expecially when they still use the old school way and it just looks better. Then the switching back and forth between drawn and CGI Frieza and Goku for there fight. I could visually see sluggishness in the CGI battle parts.

My final thoughts. The new DBZ movies are some of the best if not the best movies they ever did! They are defiantly worth watching! P.S. I loved seeing Gohan in a Track suit instead of anything else it was bad ass.

51 Dragon Half
Well there isn't much to Dragon Half. Its classic 90's anime humor based on RPGs. To me the comedy was a hit and miss. Some of the jokes were super funny and others just fall flat. The art is a bit unique. It relies on a heavy mix of general and super deformed (chibi) styles. Taking ques from RPGs is quit entertaining I must admit.

I nether recommend or discourage the watching of Dragon Half. Have a bit of a watch why not. But Watching DH can be bit bitter sweet. It has only 2 episodes then completely dropping off in the middle of the story. Dragon Half being designed more like a promotion trying to get you to then buy the manga its based on.

53 Elfen Lied
I will start with both the the anime and manga are decent in there own way. I personally don't feel like ether one has a better ending than the other. The anime has a nice tight non complicated ending but could be a little better. The manga is extremely drawn out and complicated but the very very end is awesome.

So I remember watching this series when I was younger when I was 16-17? and thinking is was wicked good. So I decided to go back re-watch it for Halloween. I was very disappointed. . . .

Any one one who thinks this is a master piece apparently doesn't understand key story points or basic human reactions.

Its not all bad though..... The anime its self does little tweaks to some dialogue and scenes from the manga sometimes for better or worse. The anime was pretty good at picking out some of the useless unneeded parts of the manga.

I haven't gotten into the downsides yet but even with them elfen lied does have this enduring/appealing feel of it.

i must rip this anime apart though. Lets just get this out of the way this anime is FUCKED UP! It is extremely awkwardly sexual. The main character kouta has this extremely weird sexual/want to be with you relationship with his COUSIN yuka. Other characters acknowledge it the whole time the creator shows no hint of thinking its abnormal. There is an uncomfortable amount of underage nudity in elfen lied. Especially so since one of the characters ran away from home because she is being sexually harassed by her step father and her mom hates her for it. I can appreciate how japan is a tad more lenient with nudity like when young gohan in DBZ runs around naked thats fine. But you can tell every bit of nudity has this over laying sexual atmosphere about it.
Yes elfen lied is gory. But its not disgustingly gory. They chop off limbs and pop heads its going to be bloody. But its not like they are tearing out intestines etc.The gore is kind of what gave elfen lied its reputation. I personally cant say the gore adds or takes away from the series. It is what it is.

now to get into why this series really isn't all its cracked up to be. ! story wise its hard to explain but its just not really all that great. It doesn't really make sense why things happen and why characters act the way they do. most of all the anime does not explain why lucy has split personalities at all. 2. the last few episodes you can tell feel rushed. They replay the child hood scenes twice for an over all of 3 times you see them within a couple of episodes. stuff happens to even know why or where people came from boom series ends. 3. The biggest thing is all the characters make NO SENSE. They do crazy shit like the cousin love, every one is a super dick like being extremely cold to little girls, just down right doing things people would not do. They are all bi polar flipping in the blink of an eye happy to pissed the next crying to laughing its ridiculous.

over all this series is pretty poorly executed but if done correctly could be amazing. Because of it has a bit of a reputation it is endearing to a lot of people who don't see the faults in it.

I'll start with saying I watched the original series a long time ago. Damn if I remember anything about it though. Supposedly these movie remakes update some things animation wise I'm not able to notice cause I don't remember.

So I know Evangelion is labeled as ground breaking and is highly praised. Well I honestly think the story in general is really complicated.
All the characters are in my opinion very unlovable. They are all jerks or bitchy emos.

Anyways moving on to the movie its self. #1 I found really boring. I guess part of it is needed to explain whats going on but the good stuff doesn't happen till movie 2 at least.

58 Five Star Stories
I randomly stumbled upon this movie and remember hearing really good things about the Five Star Stories

Well this is a really good movie though it feels just part of a whole lowers its score a bit.

In my opinion this is the best kind of animation. Any one who is repulsed by this beautiful art style can only be a new age fool.
The style is Gorgeous.

The characters are interesting. Work good together. They do have a bit of that old school fantasy feel.

The music truly is the only part that gives away its age. The music is phenomenal but its so that time period. in my opinion though the 80s and 90s had the best scoring period.

Over all The movie its self is a good sit down for a bit and watch. You don't need to be previously involved or get truly attached. The story runs smoothly, it retains your interesting , and you get whats happening. The only down fall is it defiantly feels like the begging of a grander series. Apparently in the manga it is but for some reason only one movie was made.

Random side note: Some of the character designs are intriguing..... Some of the males look female. Its not really explained.

Fullmetal Alchemist is one of the great classics, it's one of the biggies from Adult Swim. So recently I had the opportunity to re-watch it. I'm going to try my best to review FMA but not compare it to Brotherhood in this.

I get the chance to review FMA clearly. I bit of nostalgia but I'm past all the shock and surprise so I can see it as it is.

One of the best parts of FMA is it's easily re-watchable. This full run was probably my 3rd or 4th time seeing it overall and it was still entertaining. FMA has at least one of the deepest anime episodes of all time if not a couple. That would be the chimera episode.
FMA was really good at building up the story through most of the series. Just slowly weaving all this tiny threads and clues together till the big picture starts to form.

Despite being a great nostalgia anime and having some of the best episodes of all time FMA isn't perfect. Some of the voices were defiantly not on target. The biggest down side would have to be that great build up and structuring through most of the series just kind of gets bogged down towards the end. Some of the characters weren't great. And the end seriously leaves something to be desired.

Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea oh another great story by Ghibli, oh how it made me wish I lived by the sea.

Ponyo is a love story in a nutshell. It is the purest of all love. The love of young children. In Ponyo Sousuke a young boy finds a magical fish. The daughter of a wizard and the queen of the sea. Through innocent love she decides to become a young girl instead. But to stay a young girl Sousuke must prove he truly loves her.

Studio Ghibli is a master of making the little tale epic. Sure there is a few extreme magical elements to Ponyo and even the "threat" of a destroyed earth but its done in my the most beautiful and heart felt way possible. Its not like the characters go and fight warriors or bare perils. Its just a cute story of protection and innocent love.

Ponyo I think explores a rare love story. Love stories tend to be between adults or teens. Usually because love has a feeling of a sexual nature to it. Even in other Studio Ghibli films that shy away from the sexual part of love you still get this feeling or a physical connection ( kissing) and spiritual connections of the heart. The relationship between Ponyo and Sousuke is of pure love. These are like 5 or so year old kids. It is just that of purest love. The love of no expectations. The love of just the other persons presence and protection. We don't see these cutesy young love tales in western style things because of that sexual stigma.

Final thoughts: Ponyo in personal opinion isn't the best of Studio Ghiblis films but it is still a great tale to be seen. If not for the story then the beauty of the film.

I have watched Tales from Earthsea. After looking into it more I understand why it seemed a bit different than other Studio Ghibli movies.

Ghiblis Tales from Earthsea is in no way a bad movie. I actually recommend watching it. Especially if you are into medieval themes and enjoy build up Stories.

As said before Tales of Earthsea is defiantly not an instant classic as other Ghibli features. This seems to come down to two things. 1. It was the first film by Miyazaki's son. and 2. the biggest reason that it is a single 2 hour film based on a series of books.
The movie defiantly feels that way. It felt just like a small exert from a larger story. Like there should have been three ( or more?) movies Counting this one. So many of the problems that people feel is wrong with Earthsea stems from there just not being enough time.
. Unflushed characters
. slow Build up
. odd events
Basically the story creates to many questions but not enough answers.

Final Thoughts: Goro ( Miyazaki's son) gets to much criticism for Earthsea I believe. Did he take on to big of a project? Yes defiantly but with what he had I think he showed he's able to weave a pleasant story. It doesnt come down to his lack of skills but lack of time.

I know some people are on the line about some designs . Especially the dragons. I personally love the dragons and enjoy the over all look. I honestly thought the movie was older. That it had more of an 80's feel and color pallet( flatter colors). Before I read otherwise. The only thing that really bothers me is the hands at times. They looked overly round. They had a CGI look. If they were or not I don't know.

tales from Earthsea is also a bit more violent than some of the other Ghibli films. I feel this is really where the difference between son and fathers style are shown. They were drawn and directed in a different way than I feel the violence normally is in Ghibli movies.

Bottom line is I still recommend Tales from Earthsea. It's still better than a lot that is put out there.

This one is a crap story that doesn't really intertwine with the Gundam story. Federation for some reason tries to shoot a mobile suit into a black hole Zeons attack them the end. It explains nothing story wise. The animation is CGI. It IS HORRIBLE! cant stand CGI!

Great movie. Miyazaki always makes such lovable characters and interesting universes. You just cant help getting swallowed into the world and falling in love with your fav character.

Howls Moving Castle is fantastic! Its not an option but defiantly a 9.8. The only reason I can't give it a 10 is I really feel like the general Howl Universe could be expanded. It is an extremely intriguing Universe that I would love to know more about. Unlike say Totoro or Spirited away that seem to be based in our World Howls Moving Castle is not. It could have easily been something bigger than a single movie.

Over all I think I think this movie was better than the first one. To me it seems they stuck to one story rather than a bunch of bits and pieces like the first movie. This helped flush the story out better. As far as I know it appears the story is based on a single story from the manga but isnt the actual story. This gave them a lot more leeway to create a new organic storyline.

The only thing I didn't particularly like was they added a lot more cgi in the movie. I person don't like cgi all that much.

I randomly found this on netflix.
the picture intrigued me then the mild description.
Its not a bad movie it was good enough I watched the whole thing. Its not mind blowing though. Its g-pg I can see a young child watching this then maybe being inspired by it or remembering it fondly later in life. This is defiantly a movie to just watch on a lounging day or if you want to watch something you don't need to get involved in.

STORY: the story takes a bit to get going. I was honestly thinking about dropping it not bothering to finish. But as soon as the spirits show up it becomes interesting enough to keep watching. I feel like this movie could have been good to really good if they would have just focused on one problem to fix. The movies focus is split between the spirits looking for the land god to help there ill friend and the spirits not wanting to die because the building/homes will be torn down.
they bring up both problems right away in the movie but nether of them are really flushed out.
The movie ends really sadly actually. nether problem being fixed

CHARACTERS: they are also medium. being kind of strange. The have enough personality to have opinions of the characters but none of them are flushed out much.

ANIMATION: At first it drove me nuts! the characters are all drawn really simple. Not a big deal. But they are laid over claymation/realism. This drove me crazy at first, eventually I got used to it. there were still times every once in while that it bothered me. Claymation / realism wise the backgrounds were fantastic brilliant even. Not hating on this title but it is kind of sad this talent is wasted on such a throw away movie.

OVER ALL: this is not a movie you need to see but if you are interested you wouldn't be wasting your time ether.

90 Jin-Rou
Jin Roh: Wolf Brigade is one of the anime classics but I defiantly feel it isn't for everybody.

Jin Roh is a deep political story with a slow build. The ending truly is the highlight in the whole movie. It also doesn't help JR is technically part of a trilogy but the only animated one out of the bunch.

Even with all of that, to some going against it, it is a really good movie. Jin Roh was one of the very first hard hitting more mature anime titles I ever watched. No anime trope bullshit here. Just 100% political mind food. JR is an interesting universe, in a unique time period, with extremely interesting down to earth designs. The actual special forces armor is still one of the most bad ass things I've ever seen.

Final words: If you are into thoughtful mind candy animes and have a big interest in military /wwII influenced stuff Jin Roh is a must see. Especially early on if you are just getting into anime. If you aren't so much into those things well to be honest Jin Roh is one of the "miss-able" anime classics.

Jormungand's not going to revolutionize anything or break any ground but damn was it an entertaining show to watch! I really enjoyed it for what it was.An Unapologetic straight up action series!
The cast of the series is pretty enjoyable. Of coarse some are more interesting than others. I personally enjoy Koko the unique white-haired leader of the group and Jonah the orphan soldier.
The basic story being International arms dealer acquires Child Soldier and then her and her crew go around doing jobs. This series does really well not bogging you down with heavy story and heavy details. They just kind of give it to you and finally build up to the big conclusion. Most of the time it's balls-out action.

I think Jormungand biggest strength is its use of music. Being a straightforward action series they don't go for the subtle nice little Orchestra pieces in the background. Nope the music is just as balls to the wall, using Hard Dubstep through out the series! And I freaking love it! It Blends so well with the crazy action that they do.
Guns blazing, balls to the wall, fun ass gun fighting series. If you're an action kind of person Jormungand is a series you have to give a watch!

Kamisama is just an over all feel good series that tugs at your heart strings a little. We have all gone through something that was hard and we have all felt strongly for someone we had to fight for.

one of my favorite parts of the show in general is the music they use. They use very unique interesting songs that really do fit the mood of the show.

Honestly I'm sad that the series was so short. I know its only season one but still I'm not into this new season fad for animes.

I really enjoyed season 1 of kamisama so of course I was up for season 2.

Season 2 has all the basic bits that make kamisama good. The animation, music, etc. but comparatively season 2 doesn't quit have that impact though.

If you love Kamisama and have a need to know what happens go for it watch S2 but if you can leave it where S1 left off do it. This is one of those times less is more.

Arriety is a Studio Ghibli adaptation of the Borrowers. I have to say its the bust adaptation ever!

I went into Arriety a little skeptical. I know of the Borrowers and must say I couldn't think of a single thing I liked involving them. So I was a little worried. My worries were shut down though. Arriety is an adorable little story about little people. There isn't much to tell about the story. It's exactly what you expect about little people running around big people. I must say Arriety isn't Ghiblis best but its still great. Ghibli never seems to disappoint in my eyes.

The Gundam franchise as a whole is probably my favorite anime franchise.

What can I say the series that started it all. Its just awesome. Fantastic classic mecha designs, Great characters , and cool fight scenes. This is just a great series. The only thing i can say about it is its a very smart anime. Meaning its not easy to get into. I remember when I was younger I found it very difficult to truly understand and get into the complex story. The visuals are fantastic but dated this also makes it a bit difficult to grasp onto for younger audiences.

I especially appreciate this beautiful series now that I am older. One of my favorite scenes being the side by side battle cruiser battle. epically brutal.

I know a lot of people grown at the extra Gundam bits/ transforming parts. like the G Bull.
I have to concur that that are not great but I don't think they fully take away from the series.

106 Kidou Senshi Gundam 0080: Pocket no Naka no Sensou
0080 is another Gundam classic. One that is sadly passed over to often.

0080 isnt like most of the other Gundam series. Its more about the human relationships than the outright mobile suits or action. Its from the point of neutral civilians. Specifically a young Child.
They don't get instant up to date news or even having a favored side. The children find the war fascinating, constantly talking about it, the mobile suits, and collecting memorabilia not understanding the true horror of war its self. You truly get a good feel of both sides not necessarily being good or evil. The Feddies and Zeeks are both. You see both good and quite frankly douchy people on both sides.

Story wise 0080 explains why Amuro never ended up getting another Gundam in the original series. 0080 also introduces one of the most awesome/ popular mobile suit designs, Kampfer.

Over all is a great little Gundam story that's drawn well , has great mobile suits, and to top it off a great civilian story.

107 Kidou Senshi Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory
Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory is one of the GREAT Gundam OVAs. Sadly it also has two of the most obnoxious Gundam characters as well.

0083 in my opinion is the start of the pinnacle of Gundam animation . The art style, colors, and motion are beautiful! Newer Gundams newer series in general the art gets to be to CGI or to crisp. It doesn't look natural. So to me this era 80s-90s is fantastic.
The Mecha designs are nice in 0083 very, interesting. They start to transition the U.C. timeline from the more square strictly bipedal designs into more rounder limbed , fancy designed suits. It helps to transition into the Zetas and what not. They also gave more detail to classic beloved suits. Then staying with cannon claimed improvements or next in line models. I personally really enjoy that.

The sound track is fantastic as well. As I said earlier this general time frame has the best soundtracks. Over all the soundtrack just fits perfectly with the over all feel of the series. Say unlike 0080 where the soundtrack didnt seem to fit right at all. The first opening being one of the best in Gundam. Clip animation and theme song.

Okay here we go getting into the story and characters now. Of coarse Stardust Memory was always meant to just be a transition between Gundam And Zeta Gundam. This is sad because the story for what we got was great. I really wish they saw or felt the potential of 0083 when they were making it. Making the series just a little bit longer because I would have truly enjoyed just more information, more side information. Like more info on the over all building of the Delaz fleet, and a really good flash back explaining more about Cimas past. Any ways for what we get its a great story. What makes it so good is the combination of using in universe cannon and great action. Instead of just making all brand new characters like 0080 they used a lot of already created characters then some new ones in a mix that creates a great transition and pre-build for some of the characters that make it into Zeta. I honestly love great story building/ cannon. The action is the second ingredient in the 0083 formula. Right off the bat you get a treat, a mobile suit exercise. Fallowed right in the first and second episode of a Zeon operation stealing a Gundam from a Federation base!

The characters well are a hit and miss.... What can I say a few of the main characters are great. Like Gato, and Burning. But its really the sub characters that are really the great ones. The characters that don't get enough time are what make it. Like Kelly, Keith, Eiphar, Mora, Delaz, Cima , etc! The sad thing though is two of the biggest characters in the series are also two of the worst characters in Gundam period. Nina Purpleton and Kou Uraki.

We will start with basically THE main character Kou Uraki the one who ends up piloting 3 Gundams. Kou seems so whiny and while being older acts way more like a child than amuro ever did. To me he seems far less competent as a Gundam pilot than Amuro or even the Girl Christina Mackenzie from 0080 ever did. Kou gets 2.5 Gundams Toasted! I say 2.5 because the first one 01 gets messed up in his first fight. They fix it turning it almost into a completely different suit and then he gets its completely destroyed! Also screwing 02 at the same time! He then some how gets another one for like 2 episodes. And gets that totally fucked despite being completely decked out! He is so incompetent they actually start trying to verbally sell him to you later in the series instead of him naturally growing on you. Uraki literally had no appeal to me what so ever.

Now on to Nina Purpleton. OMG! she is so obnoxious. She is the creator of 01 and 02 and ends up being the love interest of Kou. Nothing wrong with that. I actually think that's a really cool idea making a couple women design Gundams. She is so damn flip floppy though you cant help but hate her! I have never seen a character that flip flops and freaks out over the dumbest shit so much. When you very first see her shes nice delightful. Then suddenly shes a complete bitch and does that for the rest of the series. One second shes flirty with Kou the next she is being a complete ass to him. Shes calm then the next shes freaking out. One moment shes all don't ruin my Gundams! to screw the Gundams as long as Kou is okay. there is a point in the show where Kou goes to ask her out on a date. She knows but kou isn't really experienced and is shy. So he cant get the words out. She gets mad at him and calls him a coward then runs off crying! Who does that! She knew what he was trying to do, she was going to say yes so why didn't she help? They then throw in at the last min a love triangle angle between her Kou and Gato that I found very unnecessary.

Final Thoughts: Now that I'm done ranting about two of the worst characters I have to push despite them and possibly not enough info 0083 is Fantastic! Kou and Nina may suck but not enough to ruin Stardust Memory. Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory is one of the must see Gundam series! Do not deprive your self of 0083!

I gave The Mayfly of Space a 4(bad) because it explains NOTHING! and its not even worth watching. It is completely skip-able.

All it shows is that Cima has nightmares. The nightmares don't even show you anything. And How the Zanzibar launches Mobile Suits.

It doesn't get a lower score because well technically the animation and voice acting is on key. Also the Zanzibar catapulting a Gelgoog one footed from the side was really cool.

109 Kidou Senshi Gundam MS IGLOO 2: Juuryoku Sensen
MS Igloo 2 is the third installment in the Igloo Trifecta. 2 being about what it was like for the Earth Federation facing the zakus from Zeon. Great concept not greatly executed.

Surprisingly the CGI gets a bit of a boast making the series look a tad better.

There isn't a long underlying story for 2 just 3 mini stories with one added concept common in each. To bad its a horrible concept for Gundam. The Universal century for the Gundam Franchise as always been grounded in realism. You know technology even New Types abilities are just kind of heightened senses. Well they decided to add a spiritual/magical element by having this ridiculous Death God in MS Igloo 2.
Its not even a metaphorical superstitious thing. Its real people can see it -_- Its completely ridiculous and feels extremely out of place for Gundam.
The mini stories them selves are not as intriguing as the Zeon ones even though the concept is neat. But they aren't bad. ep. 1 being about Ground anti zaku forces.
ep. 2 being about a tank squadron. This being the best episode for me.
ep. 3 Honestly a really annoying personal story. it involves advanced guntanks and a woman who looks like a man ( since CGI is still bad).

End Note: Over all after being surprised with the first 2 Igloos a was let down with this one. Igloo 2 confirms for me that over all the creators prefer the Zeon lol It isn't great but Igloo 2 is still worth watching.

110 Kidou Senshi Gundam MS IGLOO: 1-nen Sensou Hiroku
Considering myself a huge Gundam fan I Decided to start kicking out watching well all of the series. It was time for MS Igloo.

I don't necessarily hang around congregations of Gundam fans but you still hear/read things through the grape vines. Igloo is one I didn't hear a lot about. Honestly that's a shame!

The Hidden One Year War is the start of the Igloo trifecta. To make it easier I'm going to break it down into sections.

Art style: Have to get this out the way. It is garbage. I fanatically hate CGI and guess what Igloo is all straight CGI. Its looks bad. Mobile suits are plastic and stilted. People again look plastic. Nothing about the way there faces move looks good.
Another down side is for some reason they decided to make the zeon look even more Nazi-ish. The Zeon were always based a little on the Nazis at least the way they looked but they looked different enough they had there own thing going on. Of coarse being space colonies it was always mixed races as well. Well not in igloo straight up super nazi every one. Looks horrible.

Now that that is out the way!

Story: This makes the whole series! It has a long over all story about a crew testing Zeon equipment that's not overly exciting BUT the single mini stories in each episode are great!
They kind of use the same character build up strategy for every episode but that doesn't make them any less interesting.
I love learning more details deeper stories and side stories adding to the whole Gundam experience. I personally like more realistic war type stories in the Gundamverse over the "Destined" characters stories
ep. 1 is about testing a long range space cannon.
ep. 2 about kind of like a Zeon version of Guntank Hildolfr. Which is super bad ass!
ep. 3 is about a rival suit to the zaku. The Zudah. Which is cool in it own right.

Characters: Well the Char. are a hit and miss 50/50. I personally found the main characters that tend to be in every episode boring and annoying. The char. that come and go in every episodes are the gems. Having some how deepness, intrigue to them. They are actually kind of crazy making them more appealing lol

End notes: Over all I was pleasantly surprised. I went in expecting Igloo to be horrible and hating it but came out despite its flaws still thinking it was great!

Honestly if they would just redo this Trifecta into ANIMATION! It would be amazing. The plastic feel and annoyingness of the characters would disappear just re-animating them. Animation would give warmth and feelings to the characters making them likable. If re-did the trifecta would easily be in the top tier of Gundam shows.

Apocalypse 0079 is the second trilogy in the MS Igloo Trifecta!

Its not as good as the first but still good. It has all the same problems as the first one.
The mini stories and long overall story start to mingle. The stories being a little less interesting but still very cool seeing them test these crazy ass Zeon equipment!
The main characters still over all annoying in my book, the side characters Hidden gems still. Its a sequel of the first Igloo so for us who don't like the main characters here we go again.
Its really hard to pick a favorite episode out of these three since the mesh together very well creating a good story over all.
I will say now the story for this crew ends. Its very satisfying while at the same time saddening. You will see why.

End Note: They just made the Zeon look wicked good` in MS Igloo. and I love it! Sieg Zeon!

The animation is beautiful. Its great seeing updated versions of the original universal century mobile suits. The gouf design from 8th MS team is one of the best designs in Gundam period. The Ground Combat Gundam is one of my personal favorite designs.

Story wise honestly I think MS Team is 50 /50. It starts out great showing actual soldiers doing missions but I think it trails off later in the series. Although the best episode is towards the end.

117 Kidou Senshi Gundam: Dai 08 MS Shoutai - Miller's Report
I actually do like this what I would call a special. But hate how it was done. Which leaves me with bitter feelings.

In a nutshell Miller's Report is a compilation movie with new footage. Miller's report has an interesting twist that instead of just cutting footage and just having it be the normal story they have it portrayed as a retelling from one of the main characters. The main character being in a military trial retelling his side of what happened. This unique twist can also be very annoying at times. They tell things out of order, sometimes even changing what was said in the original scenes. It doesn't do a very good job as a compilation. What really kills it as a compilation is it doesn't even include the end of the series. It feels like Miller's Report needs to be watched in the process of watching the 8th MS Team series. Which kind of not the point of a compilation in my opinion.

Miller's Report has a lot more new footage than normal compilation which is the top reason that makes me hate and like Miller's Report all at the same time. Most of the new footage adds to the military Trial the main character Shiro Amada has to go threw. The new footage actually makes the end of the series make more sense! That's the only part that I enjoy about Miller's report. BUT its also why I hate it! Most compilation movies don't have enough new footage to force you to watch them. It's generally up to you which version you want to watch. But the new footage from Miller's Report makes it a must see pretty much. This is extremely obnoxious trying to wade through the compilation footage. There is enough new footage they could have easily just made another great episode for the series.

Final note: I honestly feel like this is a must see somewhere before the end but after the crash cause of the new footage. But buckle up for dealing with stuff you don't need to see again.

PS. Miller is an obnoxious character that should have been flushed out during the series.

Since I basically don't know any of the story my score is all based on the action! The animation is beautiful and bright. Really brings out the great battle between the 8th and a small Zeon Squad.
Its a really good battle. I really enjoyed watching Zeons suits you see less often. The Gouf Flight type for example.

After a long dip in the Gundam franchises quality they are starting to come back. The best part is we are getting American dubs again!

Iron Blooded Orphans ha a great English dub. Orphans is pretty good series in general. When it comes to I.B.O. though when you get a high point you get a damn HIGH POINT but when you get low put you tend to get a real lull / dull point.

Story: The over all story is good. The basic plot is believable and goes well with a Gundam story. I.B.O. is set in its own universe/ timeline which gave them leeway to create their own tale. This cab be both a gift and a burden. Orphans thankfully does it well compared to other Gundam series.
The series starts with a bang! Some heavy action! They do a great job of getting you on the main characters side and really getting them.
The series kind of falls into a lull though in the middle. The plot is necessary but its not thrilling. The plot work doesn't pull you in.
Towards the end it pics back up again and damn does it pick back up! Leading to a good close out of season1.

The fighting looks great. All the combat looks fantastic. Its exciting and gets you going!

Over all Id give the story of Iron Blooded Orphans for season one like a 6/10. The parts that are good make me want to give it more but the parts that are dull make me want to give it less.

Design: The design of not only the mobile suits but the characters are great in I.B.O. I love the mechs in Orphans! Its like they took inspiration from Seed, which Im not a big fan of, and tweaked them in a way that made them great!
Most of the characters are diverse with unique designs. There is a couple characters that made me double take. "Wait that not the same character?" In general though they are interestingly different and meaningful.

I find These Mobile suits particularly interesting. Gundam Barbatos. Barbatos has an extremely unique design. Skeletal Almost. With its armor it honestly reminds me of a raptor. Surprisingly for being the lead suit of the series it is extremely mean looking. It looks like its something that would wreck you up.
Gundam Gusion Rabake is a bad ass tan mobile suit.
Gundam Gusion the suit they transform into the Rabake is just as awesome! I love its heavy ogre looking appearance.
The Graze Ein is a really interesting concept. A person was basically fused to this suit. the suit was him. It was large and partly reminded me of Psycho Gundam. Except way more insane! This suit had dexterity. It could fight!
My final shout it goes to the mobile workers. I love those crazy little shits!

Final thought: I'm just glad Gundam is finally getting on an upswing again. Iron Blooded Orphans is part of that upswing. I can't wait to see where Orphans goes from here.

To make it clear I watched the Robotech Version.

Out of the three series that make up Robotech I think this one was the most entertaining.

The fight scenes and characters are more interesting than the others.
The story is less convoluted compared to the other ones. It makes sense technically all the things they mention to make the Robotech universe cohesive but you notice how you just never see Rick Hunter even though hes mentioned a ton.

I love the invid as enemies. Me and my brother called them space crabs lol
I have to admit part of why the enemies and mospeada was a whole was entertaining was the down right stupidity of the characters at times. For example at one point in the series the Invid sneak up on the main characters in a field... giant robots sneak up on them in a field! lol if you stay light hearted then that stuff gets you they now become ninja space crabs.

I have to add even though the series was actually interesting the ending was a crap out. In a nutshell they gave the bad guys feelings and they just left. Was a pretty shitty ending for all the hype of the invid.

123 Kill la Kill
Kill La Kill is one of the current phenoms in anime. I'm not surprised about that at all I think its great! But personally it's an anime that started out as epic but backsliding slightly to great as it went on.

Art Style: The art style is beautiful. Using creativity and being eccentric to create this beautiful unique world instead of high end CGI or Generic drawing styles that create a bland feeling. Kill La Kill used a great combination of giving every character a unique interesting look and group coping figures. It works great. You get this feel for the uniqueness of everybody but then because it based in a school the wear uniforms the group duplicates gives you a feel of the masses. KLK defiantly blazed there own trail style wise.

Characters: The characters are awesome. It doesn't happen a lot in anime where I basically like every character or appreciate the purpose of every character. It is truly difficult for me to pick a fav out of the KLK caste. They did awesome on the designs them selves. For a few of the main characters they took what is often a joke or a sore spot in the anime community and turned it on its head! "Fan Service" as its generally called usually the act of over sexualizing female figure and or clothing. Kill La Kill took it and destroyed it! They did it so well and in such a cool way it can almost be denied its fan service.

The Story: Okay here we are down to the story. this truly has me split 50/50. What started as a really simple but unique story turned to bizarre and out there. It started with a simple Main character seeks revenge for fathers death. The Villains use powered up uniforms that give them crazy strength and power. The main character finds her own and its on! This being in a school setting made it very interesting. For awhile the episodes were paced very well. I loved it. The it was like they had to many ideas not enough episodes so they kicked it into over drive. They were throwing story twist left and right. Throwing them out within 1-2 episodes. This is when it started to slide down hill a bit for me. The big blow though was when they threw in the twist the uniforms were actually aliens. I enjoyed the series but not so much this part of it.
After the middle the ending seemed a bit underwhelming and more redundant. Just felt like they did and fought the same things over and over the last part of the series. These few things for me dropped it down a few points but in no way did it ruin the series.

SPOILER ALERT

To me I feel like Kill La Kill could have easily been set up like Dragon Ball Z. Not necessarily oh I beat one villain a stronger one shows up but separated into sagas. Saga 1 could have been 15 or so episodes of Matoi coming to the school, fighting the club presidents, and slowly learning about whats going on. Leaving saga 1 on the cliff hanger Kiryuuin set up to take over the other schools.
Saga 2 would have been 15 or so episodes about the taking over of the other schools. The other schools were shown to have each unique characteristics. So this saga could have easily been filled in with the details about the other schools, the separating of the established characters, then of coarse the realization that the real enemy is the mother.
Saga 3 would probably be smaller episode wise but that's okay it would have cleared up what felt like the redundancy. I personally would have gotten rid of the ridiculous alien aspect and just kept it high technology mother still wanting to take over the world. No reason why the majority of the uniforms couldn't have been fancy tech then like Senketsu could have been Bio tech or perfected AI? This saga could have been easily filled. Start with a simple battle of mother. Fallowed by the taking over of Matoi. This would have been far more intense if it lasted for longer than 1 episode. Then blow it off with the final real battle Between Matoi and her Mother.

Final Thought: The only way I can describe KLK is Its an Artistic Urban Kung Fu Showdown. It is a crazy fanciful ride! Despite having a few lows I highly recommend it to anybody!

It was cool seeing and hearing how some of the characters felt and what they were going off to do after what happened in the main story. But when it came do to action time the villains felt pulled out of the creators asses. Just over loaded with to much.

Parasyte is one of the best animes I've seen in a long time.

Parasyte is defiantly not your average action/ horror anime. Parasyte takes a very deep ,logical take on story telling. They constantly ask and explore very deep questions. Yes it has lots of great action but you will get more out of the series if you think deeply along with the main characters and actions. The creator defiantly had very specific things to say. Things that included humans hypocritical nature and over blown ego about our place in nature. Things like whats really a human and if something did evolve to replace us on the food chain what we should do. Parasyte had a great knack for keeping you interested for never going in the direction you would guess but also doing the extremely logical route. For example after the parasytes start to make splashes in human culture we form a police unit against them. If you are like me having watched a lot of anime you expect ether anime tropes ( main character being god like hero with no outside interference from the outside world) or out of no where turns like most shows try and do now a days. The extremely logical and honestly duh of coarse that's what would happen outcomes are refreshing and tend to be more shocking than said other techniques.

Moving on I have to talk about the action and designs. Parasyte was animated beautifully. the designs of the characters the parasytes in particular are new and wild, different. Legit kind of terrifying. The parasytes create limbs and tentacles with knives and other shapes. This could have easily lead to overly fast paced action and jumpy angles. Instead they used great angles and animation. Showing the speed in more unique flattering ways.

Final thoughts: Often in recent times hearing that an anime is a must see tends to be a hallow statement. They are often let downs or in every way average. Parasyte is the exact opposite. Its not only must see for me its on the list of must see anime period.

So I have no idea what happened in season 1.

Any ways I actually enjoyed this series. Its a good comedy series with a hint of harem added in.
It is not a traditional harem at all. Of coarse all the female characters do seem to have a bit of a thing for the main male character but hes abused more than fanned over.
It has pretty decent animation. The jokes are a mix of what I would call actual real life humor. Say something you and your friends would make a joke about and some actually funny dirty jokes!

I would suggest this anime to any one who has a bit of pervy and sarcastic humor.

I watched this way back I recently decided to watch it again.

After reading the original manga The original movie based on the manga was disappointing.
They focused on one story in the manga and tried to stretch it out while throwing random bits and pieces from the other stories in to having the story as a whole make less sense.

The art style was interesting but I couldn't get the feel of it for GITS. I like when Things stay close to the original concept or really get the feel at least. But In the movies They changed parts of the story all together. The changes made the story bad. I also cant stand unnecessary changes they seem to make for no reason. For example In the manga on the colored pages show the secretary type information gathering Bots strictly all wearing red blazers. For some odd reason they changed them all to grey in the movie ? Its a little detail but to me just why?
Character wise the movie only focuses on 3 characters aramaki , the major, and batou a little. even changing parts in the story where mid characters would be so they don't have to show up. I personally feel they ruin major in this movie. They change her from a bad ass strong but deep character into (to me) the stereo typical stupid woman character.

There was a lot of nudity in the manga but it was tasteful. In the movie it was in my opinion extremely untasteful and unnecessary in the spots they put it in

there was a few details I really enjoyed about the movie.Batous design was very close to the original manga design. And I believe they interpret a few scenes from the manga they do not in the series.

I've been watching this series for a long time now but I decided recently to watch every episode and movies in order.

I think the series is beautiful its a work of art.
having read the manga I appreciate it even more.
They make a few character adjustments. designs, manners ,etc. but I feel the series gets the essence of the manga to a T.
Its amazing how they made original story lines for the series that feel extremely organic to GITS. But then paying tribute to the manga and doing some of the stories from it.

Its hard to say for me but my favorite part is probably how well the series flushes out the Characters perfectly.

Until I started watching all The episodes of Ghost in the Shell I didn't even know these existed lol
I find it interesting they don't show these on TV ( adult swim ,toonami)

I watched them all but for the most part I found these little shorts dumb and or boring. They don't ad any information to the story or characters at all. I know they are for fun but if anything they feed you wrong information. They got a few chuckles out of me but no full blown LOLing. In my personal opinion you miss absolutely nothing not seeing these and gain nothing from seeing them.

135 Koukaku Kidoutai: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG
GitS 2nd Gig is also amazing just like the first But there was just a few details that made me feel it was just a tad not as good.

I personally really enjoy the episodes that kind of stand alone. Again they added some homages to the mangas. Especially the very end of the last episode (26) where they basically recreate the beginning from the first manga. I Like those little details.

why I scored it a 9. 1. In the first series the laughing man story was strung loosely among all the episodes with only a few episodes completely about it. 2nd gig is kind of the opposite. Almost all the episodes are completely about the individual 11 and the refugee revolution. 2. They annoyingly stuck the term stand alone complex in to the conversations as much as they good to the point it was extremely obvious. 3. Its probably something that wouldn't bother most but it bothers me. In the mangas Major is strongly portrayed to be most likely a lesbian. You never see her have intimate moments with males but on more than one occasion has very sexual moments with females .Most of the time more than one at a time haha.
This is why the small "love story" they add into 2nd gig between Kusanagi and Kuze upset me. to me what made Kusanagi not just a strong woman but a strong character was the lack of stupid love interest. The ability to be bad ass But not cause shes trying to save or impress anyone. But at the same time she expressed sexual interest and at the perfect times would be soft and show emotion. In my opinion they messed her up a bit.

but I should add all this was obviously not enough , only to lower it by a score.

*I have not read the manga*

Black Butler seems to be one of the newer hit animes so when I got a chance to watch it I was excited! But after finishing it, it seems more like a fad anime rather than a hit.

I went into Black Butler knowing absolutely nothing about it other than the name. I had no expectations but its kind of hard to not get built up into some over the coarse of the show. Only to have them never be fulfilled.

I will be nice and go straight into the bright side of BB. I must admit the animation is on point with BB. Very nice , very visually appealing. I also give them lots of credit having set the anime in early Britain they used actors with accents ( or fake accents?). While at first it was startling and it took me a bit to get used to it was defiantly the way to go. BB has a very unique look that defiantly fits well with the theme.

Moving on in the long run Black Butler never scratched any of the itches it created for me. First there is no real plot to BB. There is just so many little things they put out there but never really fallow threw with. Like the creator has like 5 plots building that don't get flushed out. The very basic one the relationship between the demon butler and the young master never really gets flushed out beyond " demon will eat your soul when the time is ready till then I'm at your bidding." It just never hits on anything while hitting on everything! it sets up demons and the occult never goes into it, introduces grim reapers that never really effect anything, angels that really don't do anything. They do like this huge story ending with the queen having an angel and burning have of London and shit with out actually building up to it until the last two episodes! My biggest pet pev when it comes to BB has to be they set up the butler to be this massive demon but never ever show his real form in any satisfying way. He transforms at one point but they never show anything but his feet. He happens to be wearing high heeled boots. So cross dresser demon? It was just ridiculous to set it up so much to never reveal it. You could debate that they wanted to to create your own worse demon but they show way to many little details to allow you to do that.

Black Butler just gives off this huge amateur feeling. Like one of those fan stories written by some one who has no story telling skills. Its just a bunch of random shit thrown together into a shallow slop linking nothing together. The creator obviously wanted BB to be a yaoi. It is beyond obvious. But instead they kept it shallow with throw away lines. It would have at least been interesting if that was explored. Every episode even fallows the same basic plot. Lame young master needs shit taken care of then demon butler does it with out breaking a sweat.

Bottom line I don't recommend Black Butler at all. It is beyond shallow. Feeling as if it was written by a anime fan girl.

139 Kuroshitsuji II
Since it was there I decided to watch Black Butler 2 even though I didn't care much for the original. Surprisingly in my opinion it is better.

Annoyingly BB II sets up with kind of a bait and switch. Pulling you in with what appears to be a new set of master and butler. That being Trancy and Claude and right off the bat they have a far more interesting relationship than Ciel and Sebastian ever had. Though is just the bait, a set up for Sebastian and Cie to return, the switch.

Though I hated this bait and switch I give BB II credit this was good story telling. Weaving the new duo into the villains of this series. The story telling its self is much better over all. Deciding to keep to one linear story makes for a much more interesting tale. The story its self basically just the conflict between the batshit crazy Trancy and Ciel then the two butlers.

For me personally it was annoying to have Ciel and Sebastian the center of everything again. Especially when the relationship between Yancy and Claude is exactly what I want out of the originals relationship. Yancy is a deeply troubled boy, bat shit crazy! He is extremely unlikable but beyond entertaining and interesting. Claude is his butler/demon he does what Yancy says but makes it perfectly clear he has no alliance to him and all he is is a feast for him. This dynamic is far more interesting than the dull relationship of Ciel and Sebastian.
Yancy and Claude can get tedious a bit especially towards the end when the story starts to bog down a bit. Yancy can be to needy and annoying at times and Claude outlook doesn't change the whole of the 12 episodes.

Final Thoughts: I personally enjoyed the outcome of the ending. Not necessarily the ending. That being Ciel becomes a demon and doing so also traps Sebastian into being his butler forever.

Black Butler II was defiantly better than the first one and can basically be watched with out even watching the first one. But its still not great or even considered good in my book. This is one of those series apparently the manga is far superior. It probably very well is.

142 Macross
First I just want to say after trying to find what the hell was going on I think the definition of "anime" on this site is ridiculous! I don't understand how the moderators can't see the difference between dubbing even multiple times of a movie/series which makes it the same thing different language But the combining, cutting of three different series creates a different story and timeline!

So before I figured out they don't consider Robotech separate I decided to watch both ROBOTECH and MACROSS to compare. Its a big battle about which is the better version so I wanted to see for my self. I'm going to have to post two reviews under this one entree -_-

ROBOTECH: Completed
At first I was excited to watch Robotech: Macross saga since its a classic and all. Honestly watching this with my brother is the only thing that kept me going. After episode 10 I realized the series wasn't going to pick up or get better. But our random comments and noticing of weird stuff kept it interesting enough to finish.

The story Should focus more on the "robots" and the war. But it really doesn't it focuses more on a retarded love triangle between the main character Rick , a military female Lisa, and a Singer Minmay. I feel like this is something that could have been resolved using only half the episodes. They used the whole damn series though to finally spit out the obvious answer to the triangle.
I found the story boring and unintriguing.

Also this series has the worst eyeballs I've ever seen in a show lol there is so many derpy and lazy eyes in Robotech its hilarious. My brother and me spent many a minutes laughing hard at the eyes.

MACROSS:Dropped
First I just want to say I didn't drop the Japanese version because it was bad. I can confidently say Macross ( or Japanese version of Robotech basically and vice versa) is better. My younger brother agrees. We dropped Macross because its not different enough to literally watch every episode again after just watching the full series. But it was agreed ( my brother and me) we wish we watched Macross first instead of Robotech Macross.

Why Macross is better: 1. idk if it was just me or the version/edition I was watching but the animation seemed better. Also the same thing with the colors. Again I don't know if it was the version/edition I was watching but it seemed liked the English version tried to brighten up the colors. It made it look lower quality. As for the eyes we didn't get threw the whole series so we don't know but there seems to be less derpy eyes but they are still there at time lol

2. The music in the ongoing debate of which is better is always a huge point. My brother and I both agreed Macross the Japanese version has way better music. The Background music and songs sung by Minmay are better. Just outright better. It was a bit hard to think music would make such an impact on the war in Robotech when the songs sung by Minmay were so bad. In Macross you can feel the impact more.

3. The story is out right better. The bits and pieces they cut /removed and story rewrites they did for robotech were unnecessary. While I understand a few( removing Fockers topless poster in his room okay lol) but a lot they cut was pointless. With all that stuff still in and the original way it was meant to be it made more sense. The acting was superior also this added to the over all story being better.

143 Macross 7
Macross 7 is very interesting. the Macross saga can't seem to make up its mind in general about what the series should be like. This is defiantly the most out there one I have seen so far.

Macross 7 goes straight for crazy aliens that don't really make sense. They kind of took the same premise of the original. Music can effect war and beings. Except they took any strands of logic they holds that together and throws em out the window.

This one will basically come down to preference.
This series could easily be hated and rated badly.
There are plenty of reasons one could drop this series. But I stayed in there because a big feeling of nostalgia I had. It the exact kind of animation style I love and really reminded me of Gundam wing in a way. which is the first Gundam series I saw. So it has a very special spot for me.

The Animation/ Art style: Like I said this is my favorite style. Its clean and visually appealing has that kind of realistic feel. But with out being so crisp and clean its unrealistic in visually annoying like the brand new style of anime. Its just gorgeous.
The character designs were nice and interesting. I actually quit enjoyed how the characters changed cloths which a lot of times doesn't happen on animes or shows in general.
The mecha done pretty good. I will always praise DRAWN! mecha. CGI looks like garbage and a few of the Macross series do the CGI and of coarse looks bad. 7s were not they had classic ships that were drawn beautifully. The came up with some original designs that weren't bad but a few defiantly shined. My favorite was diamond forces black bomber looking fighters. In mecha form bad ass way cooler than the man heroes fighter in my opinion.

Music: The music was 50/50. Cant say I remember the background music so it must have been average or minimal. They really focus on the series band music using it a lot! Some of the songs were really good and catchy others were really cringe worthy or annoying.

Storyline: This series was a hit and miss. If you are expecting a more realistic series like the original you are going to be disappointed. It starts out to basically appear like its going to go in that direction. Fire Bombers music is going to culture shock and turn the villains. But the further you get in the crazier things become. Music seems to more super powers the villains are bat shit crazy and make no sense. Also the villains are that wicked cliche "oh we beat that one so another more powerful one comes".
The episodes can sometimes seem repetitive. Some characters seem unimportant and somethings never go explained. I know its suppose to be like a war/ battle focused series but to me in my mind the casualties seemed tremendous, ridiculous for a space fleet. Its not a whole planet they only have so many finite people.
Character development is fantastic though. This is what true held me on. Not just one or a couple but tons of characters evolve and change over the series. And they do it perfect. Even some of the villains evolve beautifully. One of my least favorite characters became one of my favorite (Gamlin). For a lot of characters just point for point they did great.

Again I'm going to state how I wish MyAnimeList had a more in depth point system.

So in other wards I want to give Encore a 7.7

So any ways this was also really close to the series so there is not much to add. I do give it a 7.5 The movie is again more interesting than half the later episodes in the series. The only reason I don't give it a 7.7 like Encore is I cant tell where it fits into the 7 time line. It creates a few inconsistencies.

I enjoy the idea of meeting rogue or other zentradi which both the movie and encore touched upon. Macross 7 would have been a much better series in general if that was the story premises rather than the bat shit crazy protodeviln

I was A little disappointed in Dynamite.

First the pros

The art style and animation upgrades a little. Its very nice. The mechs look specifically very nice. I was worried they would switch over to bad CGI because I think there is a little part in the opening with it but thankfully they did not.

Cons: Sadly that's about it for the pros. I didn't enjoy the music in this one at all basically.
The story was interesting but the main story was Basara focused Which lead to everything involving the rest of the band to be pointless and time wasting. Including an attempted rape that had nothing to do with anything. The main story was convoluted a tad as well. Basara traveling to a planet with space whales. It could have been flushed out more if they didn't waste time with the pointless other crap.

147 Macross Plus Movie Edition
I truly enjoyed Macross Plus. I feel its great as a movie all by its self but It fits in to the Macross continuity just enough as well.

The story generally has nothing to do with any of the other Macross storylines. Other than being set in the same universe, having zentradi , and an appearance by the space fortress you would never know it was Macross. But the story is good. It focuses on three main characters live, meeting up with each other again, and dealing with it.

The art style is beautiful. To me this is what good anime looks like for the most part. Drawn not CGI. They threw a few CGI scenes in there but covered them up well by making it appear they are computer sims or manipulations

148 Macross: Do You Remember Love?
(watched the subtitled version)

Wow this was amazing! I honestly cant believe being based even though a revision how great Do you remember love is!!!

I can honestly say I recommend this movie over the original series.

Idk if its because I've seen the original series or my points really matter I can't give it a perfect though.
Any ways The animation is great! Only thing I can really complain about is the hands wth? Other than that it was gorgeous. I fully believe every thing should have been in this style from this point on. Baffles my mind why they would go with garbage CGI for some later stuff. In this version they kept the original looks but updated style. So like Hayase looks more feminine bit more realistic. But rick looks the same but updated. They changed the designs of the flight suits and uniforms looks fantastic. They but tons of detail into the macross ship itself

the Story works a lot better than the original and robotech! The story works so well. In this version Hikaru isn't a little bitch. He is strong so it makes more sense for him to get two love interest picking Hayase. The female and male aliens are warring. And Focker doesn't die loosely.

A big plus for me also was the violence. the violence is kicked up a notch in Do you remember love! explosions, blood, vehicles and mechs cracking crumbling. The violence and the way its animated is portrayed excellent.

There is only a few downsides I can think of. I mentioned it earlier but at times the hands are drawn just retarded. In my opinion I Prefer Dubs but the dub version of this is horrific. Again I mentioned this a little earlier idk if its because I've seen the original or what but I think this would be a masterpiece if it was A tiny OVA. just a little bit more back ground building on the characters would have been fantastic in my opinion =) Some key characters in the original series barely make an appearance in the movie.

Kiki's Delivery Service is a tale that is great in its simplicity but broad in its grasp. It had the potential to be a magic fest being about a witch but instead they kept it simple, in a simple setting of around the turn of the century. Its just beautiful and heart warming.

Prepare yourself for the power of the midnight sun, the pillar of fire,the...Prominence!

Because of the fondness I have for Medabots and because it never got a true full American run I decided to watch Medabots all over.

Medabots was wild fun but its not quit the beast that shows like Pokemon and Digimon became.
Medabots could have easily become the next big thing. It has wicked potential. After watching it( especially since it was the completely out of order American line up) it has this feeling of no real long term planning and only half effort .

Medabots is defiantly not an epic tale, its not a store buster, its not something that will take over the world but it is a great afternoon cartoon show. It would be great for a casual watch just like say how nickelodeon used to show episodes of Rugrats or Hey Arnold every day in no particular order. Medabots has a good cozy feel and often times does have simple quick humor. Metabee and phantom renegade/space medafighter X are to two funniest characters in the entire show. Its easily a series that can still be handled even when older.

The storyline though while being loose still kind of held the series back. It felt like they had no pre-planning having the story turn in certain directions with no other pre-information. They also at times seem to flip flop between the bad guys ( the rubber robo gang) being complete nonsense villains and being true threats.

Anyways I do feel a little saddened that Medabots wasn't as great as it could have been if you couldn't tell but I still enjoyed watching it. I say if you remotely remember Medabots fondly give it another watch at least a bit.

155 Medarot Damashii
Alright here we go! After watching the entirety of Medabots I had to go into Medabot Spirits.

Medabot Spirits kind of gets a bad rap. I just cant see why. First Spirits was produced by a different company than the original series. I also believe it switched companies again half way through. I think that is the cause of all the problems and pluses of spirits. I'm gonna do this one a bit differently by doing a plus and minus list.
MINUS:
- The new company obviously didn't do to much research. They changed or straight up got previously established things wrong.
- Some characters were ruined or changed.
- The series as a whole is a little damn long
-Being a kids show its expected but some peoples motivations make no sense
-some Medabot/ Kilobot designs are lame
- a couple of the voice acting for certain characters are garbage!

PLUS:
- Kam and the Kilobots are way better villains than the flip floppy antagonist of the original.
-Some kilobot/ Medabot designs are better
-has better visuals in my opinion. Specifically the medaforce Looks way cooler in Spirits
-The comedy is different it has its ups and downs but the sass later on in spirits is great lol
- I personally think the long term and short term individual episode stories were done better than the main series. The long term story Kam (villain) hates medabots messes them up with is own kilobots. Its basic and broad enough to stretch the whole series with out burning out. While the single episodes for the most part had varying plots that usually tied into the whole kilobots bad loving medabots good theme.

Final thoughts: I think spirits gets unfairly criticized. Sure it messed up on a few things but in a lot of ways it did things better. I think Spirits had a few of the best episodes out of the entire franchise. Try giving Spirits a chance. Don't think of it as a sequel but kind of its own stand a lone series.

Bonus thought!: It also helps having a sense of humor about the whole thing. Me and my brother constantly joked Kam had leukemia and Icki actually suffered brain damage from the end of the OG Series.

I'm going to be straight I absolutely hated Michiko & Hatchin. Its nothing but a ghetto dirt story. The only two reasons I watched the whole thing was 1. Toonami was showing it weekly and 2. because they were building up for this awesome ending. Which they didn't do! It was a piss poor story with a piss poor ending. it wasn't even a blacksploitation type series. There was no kung fu, action , empowering , badass-ness to it at all. It was all one shit fest after another, unrealistic fighting in a boring crappy way, and just no feel good moments. In my book Princess Mononoke is one of the best Studio Ghibli movies. The animation is beautiful as always And the story is one of a kind. one of the most interesting aspects of the story is how both sides ( the humans and forest beast) are both painted in a light that shows them well and shameful. It wasn't a one sided good vs evil story. This one is defiantly aimed at the more mature side.

160 Monster Farm: Enbanseki no Himitsu
Monster Rancher!!!!! This is of coarse a show meant for kids. If you get past all the usual flaws found in kid shows such as simple themes , some things not adding up, and dorky habits Monster Rancher is a pretty good throw back to when they actually tried to make decent kids shows.

If you start straight from the very beginning MR has one of the catchiest them songs around. I still love it to this day. The show in it self is an interesting chimera. Being based on Monster rancher the video game. An amazing monster raising game. That kind of leaves the show with no conflict. So the show makes up its own story then uses elements from the game. For people who haven't played the game you would never get these small hints small details but if you do it makes the show that much more special.

Of coarse there's occasional feeling of retread in some episodes. Them seemingly telling the same story different characters or going back to some character growth they should have evolved through. These are not glaring flaws since its obvious from the tales and evolution of the show they really tried while making monster rancher. They also get some big voice over names.

during the whole of the series they show off an abundance of different monsters, most of not all of them can be found in the games. This is one of the fun parts of the show for us gamers.

Really the only big flaw I found was the build of of this big bad ultimate villain ( Moo ) and ultimate hero to take him down then only to be givin this kind of half assed battle. leading up to season 2...

Over all I think monster rancher is a fun binge watch for those with MR nostalgia or those who played the original 2 games.

Monster Rancher season 2 as I've come to know it is the direct continuation of the original monster rancher series.

MR2 is many ways better than MR1 but also in many ways baffling. In the many ways its better because its closer to the actual games. the bring back towns and people. They bring back the tournaments. This is the man focus of season 2. Showing off even more monsters all revolving around the gang entering tournaments.

Some of the more baffling moments/ decisions include the almost immediate return of the "baddies" something they just defeated. Though I wasn't a fan of this idea I did love how they brought back a disabled Durahan as the leader.
They also decided to remove then return some of the characters moves. Most of the unsatisfying moments came from them deciding to rehash concepts they already did. Though one of the biggest "what?" moments came at the very end. MR1 they returned Genki to his place and time. At the end of MR2 they just leave Genki in monster land. I can defiantly see why the creators choice this. they portrayed Genki as sad and longing to return, any person would straight up admit they rather stay in such fantasy lands than return even if it meant never seeing family again. But that has immediate ramifications! Genkis family never sees him again! They don't even show Genki seeing anybody on his return the first time round. It just baffles me. I understand just baffled.

Final Thoughts: Honestly other than a few links to Monster Rancher 1 Monster Rancher 2 seems like it could easily be a stand a lone series. Its also a better watch out of the two.

The Seven Deadly Sins surprisingly is a unique and wonderful journey.

From the beginning I was skeptical. Seven Deadly Sins isn't the most original name. I also haven't heard anything about SDS before I saw it listed on Netflix. It being a Netflix original series I was skeptical. Netflix once again proved me wrong. Showing they are some how good at making great shows despite not being good at much else.

The seven deadly sins is a great take at a western style story. Knights and armor rather than samurai and honor. Its a completely new vision on the seven deadly sins. I loved it all.

The characters are unique and lovable. All of them. It can be quit hard picking a favorite. Each one interesting, different, all having different roles. I have a fondness for Harlequin AKA King, the fairy king. But I can honestly say I like all the characters.

Seven Deadly Sins does its job perfectly. Dragging you into the story then making you want more at the end of every episode.

"100 push-ups, 100 sit- ups, 100 squats, and a 10km run EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!". And that's how you become a superhero. ONE PUNCH!

One Punch Man is one of those series that just kind of engulf the universe real fast. If you've read any of my other reviews you'll probably know that I'm skeptical when it comes to extremely popular shows that get popular real fast. One punch though swept the universe for a reason!

Characters: The characters in one punch are fantastic! They are all over the Spectrum. You get some real bad asses, you get a lot of goofballs, and some really likeable characters. But the bottom line is they are all interesting.
Saitama has created a cult following. Dou completely to his uniqueness. Not only does he look different by having a bald head, a bright yellow and red jumpsuit with white gloves with a cape, he oftentimes switches animated faces. On top of that he is the strongest damn character in the universe maybe one of the strongest characters to ever exist in anime! Fantasy character battles will never be the same.
All the other characters in the series are just as interesting and likeable.

Soundtrack now I'm not a big soundtrack guy but I have to say it works well in one punch and I absolutely love the theme song.

Storyline the storyline for one punch man is really hard to explain upfront. Just watch it! its good stuff. Far from your regular action series.

One Punch Man is to good to pass up. Go at it! right now! Go!

184 Pokemon: The Origin
Finally got around to watching Pokemon origins Still had to watch it in subtitles.

Any ways Compared to the other Pokemon series Origins is GREAT! But in general its just good. This is why.

PROS:
The animation Is great I think. Characters look crisp and so close to the original style. The Pokemon look great as well. The battles were done great really made you feel the battles.

OMG the music was phenomenal. orchestra style remakes of the original Gameboy music. It was beautiful.

It was truly really good "special"

CONS:

That's the biggest problem its a "Special" it should have been a much longer series. It very quickly skims over things that would be amazing to see animated the way they should be.

The only other thing that bothered me is it stayed very close to the actual original content. except for some ungodly reason they felt the need to insert mega stones and mega Charizard into origins. The only reason I can think of is to correspond with X & Y. The Mewtwo battle made me very unhappy

They did a good thing by giving us a little taste of what the series should have been. But at the same time by doing that a little taste isn't enough. Opens up the bitter wound of not getting the full series.

188 Robotics;Notes
Robotics;Notes appeared after Steins;Gate on the Funimation section on demand. Steins;Gate being phenomenal! And Robo Notes being related mildly I decided it wouldn't hurt to give it a shot.

I will say it now Robo Notes is not even close to as good as Steins;Gate. Its a decent series but in all honestly it was pretty mundane through most of it. It didn't really pick up till towards the end.

Robo Notes in a nutshell is about a group of kids trying to build a legit working large robot. But things get a bit crazy when there is a secret plot to mess up humanity.

Considering Robo Notes is pretty much grounded in reality but in the "near future" The characters are interestingly realistic. But maybe a tad extreme. My favorite being the shut in girl that's a super perv lol
over all its just slow through most of the series , them building a school robot and dealing with that shit.

there is two main reasons why for me Robotic notes just doesn't compare to Steins;Gate. 1. Its straight up to slow there was a couple of times i though about dropping it cause it didn't really hold my attention. It didn't get good till the end. Where as Steins;Gate my interest was peaked nonstop from episode 1 till they end.
2. Steins;Gate I felt was super grounded in reality. It wasn't in the future and other than the whole time travel stuff nothing felt unattainable. Everything felt like it could happen including the government type stern conspiracy. Everything in Gate seems to fit together well.
Robotics;Notes on the other hand. Well to me it felt like nothing in it could have happened. The technology is out of reach. The phone padi things they all have could very well happen BUT I just cant believe something that cool will come out anytime soon. We aren't making to many large leaps in technology anymore. Then the fact they are making a GIANT robot for SCHOOL! Not happening. Also instead of running smoothly it feels like they throw shit into the story they just happen to need to make it progress. The Secret plot was kind of cool at the end but it was to outlandish to feel it was possible.

So the bottom line is it just doesn't have the same impact with out that possible feeling.

189 Rokka no Yuusha
Rokka is quit the interesting small series. It will be easier to break this one down bit by bit.

Story: The story is simultaneously a 4/10 and a 7/10. The bottom line is if there is no further plans to make more seasons or continuation series then Rokka sets up this grand story with so many possibilities that will never be fulfilled. And that's obnoxious. If there is then this is a beautiful set up chapter.
The story its self is unique and quickly draws you in. That being there is a Demon king that awakens every so often then six chosen saints must go and stop him and his forces. Rokka then uses a mix of classic story telling and swerves with out of no where you got me techniques.

Characters: The characters are unique and interesting. Though some are more likeable than others. Don't like you Chamo -_-

Other: I think the most interesting part of Rokka is the obvious influences. Instead of the over used samurai/ feudal Japan or constant anime tropes Rokka went outside the box. They used Aztec and black powder era influences.

The worst part has to be the heavy reliance on CGI in certain areas in the series such as the fiends and magic powers.

Final Thoughts: I defiantly think Rokka is worth watching is you want a break from the general styles of anime. Rokka gives you a nice breath of fresh air.

P.S. Dont give up at the end complete the series The Seventh isn't who you think it is....

I thought this movie was fine. 5 out of 10 nothing great, nothing horrible.

Roots Search has a very classic scifi story. Crew finds alien, alien fucks shit up. The alien seems to prey on what the individuals regret and or fear. Which is why the innocent girl doesnt see the shapes at first.
I don't see why its rated so low. Sure its not to deep but its just a throw away story. Enjoy the mild gore and crazy alien.

The end I will admit was crap. Oh well

191 Samurai Champloo
Samurai Champloo was another one of those animes that ran during the heyday of Adult Swims anime runs. During this time anime was flooding in and around every where. So it was great going back and re-watching to get the full feel of the series again.

Champloo has an interesting style, using classic samurai Edo period as the foundation then throwing in some current freshness. Showing interesting concepts like Edo period beat boxers and graffiti artist.

Champloo starts out feeling strong but kind of putters out towards the end in my opinion. The pace stays the same through out the whole series so there is never any feeling of urgency or any change of feeling really. It then starts to feel repetitive since it is pretty much just they move they fight they move they fight.

Sadly the ending then seems like a let down. They build up both the meeting of the sunflower samurai and Jins back story. Jins end with a battle between him and a higher up Government attacker. The sun flower samurai earlier revealed to be Fuus dad doesn't end up being some epic character some epic chess piece, nope he just ends up being a sick man that was a dead beat dad. Mugen has a pretty nice flushed out back story but does not flow into the end. He has to save Fuu then fight of coarse some fool. It left such a little impression on me I can't remember why the guy had a gripe with Mugen.

Final Thoughts: Samurai Champloo is defiantly a good anime but I don't feel it stacks up to some of the other anime from around this time.

A lot of people give Cybernetics Guardian shit. Claiming its probably the worst thing they have ever seen. Well they have never seen what I have apparently. Lets break it down.

The Good: I love this style. The style that really defined this time period for anime. The 80's being one of my favorite time periods of coarse I love the animation!
The English dub is fine. I don't really see any problem with it.
The soundtrack is my favorite part of Cybernetic to be honest! It has a great cyberpunk track I really dug. Completely surprised me.

The Bad: lets be straight its the story and nothing but the story. Now I am not saying it's horrible, not saying its garbage. It's just unmotivated, nothing special.
Guardian suffered from an odd spot where it was longer than a regular anime episode but not quit long enough to make a movie with a good build. So it basically lacked detail. I wouldn't say the story is stupid but nothing ever really makes sense or has a good purpose.

The mediocre story drags it way down, sadly since it really did have all the elements to make it a pretty good movie.

Most of what I've been watching lately is what the Funimation section has been showing. This is another one from the list. Meaning this isn't a series I sought out but stumbled upon.

Ninja Flash. Here's the thing I will try and break this down simple. The art work is great. It has great detail , works well. The story opened well. Its about girls training to be ninjas. Real ninja type stuff not lame "what the fuck is this?" type stuff like another series .... I'm going to call this straight Ninja Flash is a pervy, naughty joke, look at the boobies series. At first they did well. the story was light hearted, funny, I loved the straight forward dirty humor. Then they went into the real, generic, serious story. And that's what killed it. As I just said it was extremely generic, OMG good girl team vs bad girl team but the bad girl team isn't so bad after all. With only 12 episodes there wasn't enough time to flush out the characters, background, and complete story so it felt very generic and underwhelming. The serious tone Ninja Flash decided to take just doesn't mesh well when you have your own booby physics system.

Final thought I honestly wouldn't recommend this serious Because very fast it becomes bland and boring.

It went well with the violence =P It does have a bit of CGI but not really enough to disturb the animation and flow.

I watched the entire first season as it aired on Toonami. I do not know if there was any major editing or skipped episodes. Ether way I found it to be a very good series.

At first the first maybe second episode I thought I was going to hate this anime and would probably drop it. At first the main characters were extremely annoying to me. And the art style is very eccentric. Extremely new school.

After giving it a chance though everything comes together! They just did this series right. The characters even though insane balance out. Its extremely serious but injects a few bits of dark humor in. The series does a good job at keeping it interesting, keeping the drama up, and leaving off in a way you want to watch the next episode.

The art style even though kind of off and a bit unsettling you get used to it and realize its the only style that works with this anime. It became instead of a detraction it became a plus.

Final thoughts at times the new hip anime getting a lot of attention can often be horrible. If you're one of those people who don't just jump on the band wagon and get turned away when something becomes over popular don't let the popularity of this series detour you. It truly is worth giving a shot.

Food wars food Wars is one of those series I wasn't so sure about. I'm not a big fan of series that try and make everyday things seem super and extravagant. Damn was I proven wrong! Food wars is a fantastic watch and I loved every minute of it.

food Wars does everything right. They use legit cooking methods. Somebody must have really enjoyed cooking or did a lot of research about cooking because they use a lot of cooking words in detail. The actual Act of them cooking they don't really make hyper powered or anything. What I should say is it's not like anybody has superpowers. All the cooking is actually serious. Everything around the cooking is utmost insanity!
They have a fun time describing the food in this show. Character interactions are good stuff too.

Side notes the animation is really nice. It's the new age animation but all the bright colors and Crisp animation itself really lends well too this type of series. The characters are interesting in fun. The storyline moves smoothly. Always doing something exciting or interesting.

Food Wars is one of those series that's a bit difficult to explain. You can't explain just the basic concept with out it sounding dull. If you try to go into depth you sound like a mad man! In short you just have to watch it! It is one of the few titles I would honestly recommend to anybody.

219 Steins;Gate
Steins;Gate leaves me breathless it is a masterpiece in ever sense of the word.

SG has everything a good story should character depth, drama, love, twist and turns, and does it all right!

SG does twist in turns in the story that are great. They get you back involved, you don't see them coming (well except maybe one) , and best yet none of them are just for shock or just because!

The characters become deep and important. We all have our favorite characters from different series but honestly this is one of the very few where the characters and the emotions they showed touched me emotionally.

One of my favorite parts about Steins;Gate is the realism. I'm not talking about the time travel and what not no. I mean like just the things the characters talk about and how they say things. We all have had that friend or friends that did the dirty jokes or set people up for dirty jokes. We all have that friend that has the odd hobbies.
Even the sounds of the cells going off were super realistic it drove me nuts! I would swear my phone was going off. But it was great.

Over all I highly recommend Steins;gate to any one that isn't a moron. It starts a bit slow at first but it all has a purpose give it a chance!

220 Steins;Gate: Oukoubakko no Poriomania
I have to say while the series is a masterpiece this special episode is unnecessary.

This is the perfect example of less is more.
The series left things off perfect. Everything was fixed and leaving it heavily implicated that Okabe and Makise get back together but not officially confirmed. Also Itaru has a daughter , it was implied that her mother and the whole situation was a good deal. This gave you just the right amount of information while leaving it open to interpretation. Itaru hooks up with who? Is it a geeky girl? A hot chick? one of the lab members?! Does Okabe and Makise kiss immediately? Do they get back together slowly? Or does Okabe sacrifice everything? Up to you. Which is perfect.

Now this special on the other hand...... it doesn't even have the same tone as the series and it completely undermines the series. 1 It ruins that whole mystique by showing you who Itaru gets together with. Oh how original a girl that looks EXACTLY like his daughter. I personally have never seen a mother and daughter look exactly alike like twins. Also hook up Okabe and Makise again. The biggest problem is the way they do it. Makise wow of coarse loves Okabe in the final time line because everybody magically has the steins;gate ability that was the pinnacle of the story in the series! Only the main character had it mostly in the series but now every one has it.

This special just feels so unnecessary and full of bull that it just feels forcefully made.

This movie pulled at my heart strings a few times Which doesn't happen often for me.
It Had beautiful animation. everything in the movie meshed together organically unlike when series push cgi in with animation or everything is to crisp and clean.
It was heart felt with deep characters. They made it so a lot of things said or done early on reentered into the story for a purpose.( like the families war heritage) None of these things felt like forced story mechanics but flowed very nicely.

223 Sword Art Online
Sword Art Online is one of the newer break out series so it was only a matter of time before I got around to watching it.

For the most part SAO did not disappoint. I'm going to get this out there right now. I don't care what anybody says SAO is a ROMANCE story bottom line! Its a new age romance done awesomely.

SAO did very well keeping you interested in the story, always wanting to watch the next episode. The characters were interesting and designed well. They had very beautiful designs. The story its self was unique. Being based on RPGs they stay very true to the source material. They just take it to the next step with virtual reality. The Drama comes from the simple story turn that you die in game you die in real life.

There is a few things that keep SAO from being a 9 or even a 10. They do a good job through most of the series but cut it off to soon. They kind of make an abrupt unexpected end to part 1. It drops in quality just a little bit after this. They did it yaay escaped Sword Art Online but not really. Asuna (the main female character) of coarse doesn't really escape and is stuck in another Virtual game called alfheim online created by some other dick head. It just feels like a retreading. They do it unnecessarily. It was unnecessary to make Asuna a "princess" to be saved. I personally felt like the drama and danger was way higher in part 1 in SAO than in part 2 in Alfheim. SAO in the second half really starts to get a harem feeling. Every girl Kirito comes in contact with gets a thing for him including the beginning few from part 1. Including is step sister/cousin. It was unnecessary to create such an awkward love interest when the true one was already established.

Final thoughts: I really enjoyed SAO. It is a love story for the new times that can really be connected to. But the feeling of unnecessaryness for part of it takes in down a peg or so in over all rating.

This was a nice anime. I love the old school stuff lol
it wasn't mind blowing or amazing. But I think that's one of the upsides. Its an anime you don't have to invest in, you don't have to get attached to.

It was defiantly old style animation but I appreciate that. I read that techno police 21c was supposed to be aimed at an older audience but I personally just don't see it. It made me think of a Saturday morning special. Something that was interesting to watch but then after you pretended to be a robot messing crap up.

The voice acting was not bad but I personally wondered about some lines. I kind of looked and went what ? who would say that that way?

My favorite part of the movie is when the bad guys hi jacking the tank decided to rip it threw the cockpit of the plane and dropping out of the sky XD bad ass on a crazy level.

over all a fun movie if you just want to relax and enjoy some old school animeness.

My brother and me watched this together after i convinced him to start finally watching more mecha. We both really enjoyed watching the series. Its defiantly a fun series. I can give it more than like an 8.2 8.5 though

pro's: Its interesting keeping you going with its unique approach( time skips etc) Its funny I love the play on old style giant robot series. The way they talk and attack its funny. the characters are engaging as well. A lot of the mechs are wicked in design.

cons: It could have been a little longer as a series. It would have been nice to elongate the process of them fighting the spiral king then the second half getting deeper into the anti spirals. and the building process maybe. The steps of the series gets kind of repetitive. bad guys show up, gurren laggan fights, he punches them, they die, hurray. Also the mubo jumobo they just make up bothers me a bit but thats just me =P like seriously you cant throw galaxies.

I thought this parallel works was going to be neat. different takes on the series threw quick music videos. Buts its actually bad. The videos don't seem to line up with the music at all. its like literally some one took animation from a real episode then layed music over it. A lot of these Videos would have just been awesome as acted shorts. Or if they created new music or just different music that alined with the videos at least
Very disappointing.

228 Tenkuu no Shiro Laputa
Laputa: Castle in the Sky is another and apparently the very first masterpiece by Studio Ghibli. I consider almost all of Ghiblis works to be on a far higher level than everything else. Laputa is no exception.

Ghibli apparently all ready had there legendary style of animation and story telling down from the get go. Because both are beautiful.

Laputa being Studio Ghiblis first paved the way for the rest. It has some notable characteristics missing. The animation and designs are of coarse beautiful but can't really say have there own stand out style. Most of the other films have key tweaks to the style that helps them visually stand apart. Laputa in my mind can only be categorized as steampunk. ( not that that isn't a unique style in its self! )

Really what holds Laputa together is the story itself. I love how Ghibli creates amazing romantic innocent love stories with out having to push it to that sexual level. An unbreakable bond forms between the two main characters then you fallow them on there adventure to find something that means something special to them both.

Final thoughts, Its never easy putting Ghibli movie into words. They are experiences you have to have on your own. Laputa should be one that any body not just Ghibli fans watch.

There is no need to get into Terra Formars, it's pretty much agreed that it's not very good. But I think it's for the wrong reasons.

I have read the manga that's where the real reasons Terra Formars the series is bad. The manga is actually quit long and packed full of details. That is the main problem. It would/ will not be easy to ever transfer the amount of detail and extra info you get in Terra Formars into animation. TF isn't a series that lends its self very well to animation.

Over all the series is poor mostly because of the restraints that had to be made. Because of these restraints to those who have not read the manga it looks like a no storyline deathfest. Terra Formars really isn't though it just wasn't meant to be an anime.

232 The Cockpit
This was a very interesting old OVA.

its three short stories involving wwII.

the stories themselves are a mix of propaganda, romanticism, and weird stereotypes.
but most of all I felt this strong focus more on the sadness the whole war was for humans rather than a focus on the war. I didn't feel any particular hatred or bad guy feeling from any side in the series. Just we all had sides and had to do what we had to do.

story1 was to me surprisingly about the Nazis. A short story about a pilot having to pick between his duty as a fighter pilot + his love and what would be better for humanity as a whole. the pilot looks suspiciously like Captain Harlock >_>.

story 2 is a bit more propaganda-y romancing japans kamikaze pilots but also condemning the practice since it made no impact in the war.
Some of the Asian characters are drawn really weird. Like they are super cartoony looking in contrast to the other normal looking characters and a serious setting. Idk if this could be because they are classic designs in japan and is more natural there?
You see a bit of the Americans in this short showing a bit of stereotyping making most of them blonde or brown hair with blue eyes. But they were not portrayed badly. Them saying some insightful comments I believe.

story 3 was again really about the Japanese but instead of being more about a whole unit or particular act its about 2 peoples journey that they need to do to fulfill something to them selves. Again odd character designs whats up with that?

Over all I enjoyed the short series. I like a good break from all the fantastical animes with something a more realistic and serious. I thought it gave off a good vibe of condemning the war more so than romancing it.

233 The Sky Crawlers
The score pretty much describes it all its just a fine movie.Ii was originally going to give it a 5 but the end saved it.

Why its not lower: The art style is actually pretty nice. I enjoyed the interesting plan designs, the over all setting of the story, I don't think any of the characters are super deep but none of them are annoying.
A lot of times shallow characters will be stereotypical or extremely annoying. The characters in this movie are not. Over all the story isn't dull but doesn't exactly draw you in ether. The ending actually starts to get really interesting but that's the problem. Just as it starts to get really good its done.

Why its not higher: again the story is lake luster. the characters are not deep at all. The main character meets another character once that's the only time you see him then later he dies and the movie doesn't really make it a point to make you understand he died. This character was suppose to be a member of his flight team. Theirs a few character that pop in and that's about it.
Even the main characters aren't deep.
They dont explain a lot of things in the movie.
Basically the story is interesting enough to watch. but the lack of details and such make it just a fine movie.

234 Tonari no Totoro
Truthfully this was probably my first anime ever. I remember watching this when I was 3 or 4 way back before I even knew what such a thing was. I finally figured out what it was again later in my life. I was determined to watch it again and just finally did.

What can I say this is another masterpiece From studio Ghibli. Everything they do is amazing.

My Neighbor Totoro doesn't really seem to have a what I consider conflict. For example such as spirited away where her whole goal was to get back her parents. Sure the mother seems to be sick not really explained. And at the end the little sister may gets lost for 10 minutes film time maybe lol. I don't consider these story focused conflicts.

So the movie is mostly focused around the wonder. Also of course the brilliantly created characters. Its mind blowing how Ghibli creates such realistic feeling in depth characters in the time they use.

Honestly I really wish Totoro was a studio Ghibli series rather than a movie. I can picture the three forest spirits and girls getting into all kinds of wonder like shenanigans. At least for a short while. mini series? OVA?

235 Top wo Nerae 2! Diebuster
This OVA is a bit odd.

The art Is pretty good. Its not super bad but not super fancy ether. The artistic designs of some things are questionable but w/es. They are always trying to differentiate clothing.

The characters are actually quit nice. The character personalities and feelings are built nicely. Good range of characters as well. Ranging from crazy to goofy.

Compared to the original Diebuster defiantly portrays the struggle against the aliens better.

Well this is suppose to be a sequel to Gunbuster but its very fleeting. They take the alien idea and continue with that. After that its mostly just referring to bits of Gunbuster. The buster machines aren't anything alike. I do enjoy though the small homages and jokes Diebuster does to gun buster. The whole ripping the shirt thing "topless" lol and the looping at the end showing the end of die buster was also the end of Gunbuster when they returned to earth. that was beautiful.

236 Top wo Nerae! Gunbuster
I wanna start with the version I watched had horrible subtitles. I tried giving it a chance still but the subtitles swayed my over all experience still.

Over all this anime was not all that special. The main character obviously being the "chosen one" has an obnoxiously low self esteem. The whole OVA in general is mostly about the interactions of the characters. The story is suppose to be about battling these horrible aliens. Yet they don't ever really build them up. You barely see them at all and what you do is under whelming. I never really got a feeling that they were a threat like they should have been.

There is only two basic mech designs in the whole series. A basic very generic looking humanoid in multiple colors little tweaks. Then Gunbuster
A massive beast of a mech. Not much is really explained about why its special , why the main character has to pilot it, and even though the series is named after it you don't see it nearly enough.

This OVA is full of gratuitous cleavage and full nudity. One scene in particular you look at thinking well it kind of makes sense but why?

Final thoughts if you watch anime casually, like to watch small series in one go, or like seeing different kinds of mechs this OVA is alright at least to browse over. If you are looking for quality series or mechs then you are not missing anything.

237 Trigun
re-watching Trigun was a nice experience. I'm just going to go into a short review

Animation: 6.5 / 7 triguns animation isn't all that bad but it didn't stand up great to time. Still has some really Unique Designs though. It's definitely one of the great Steampunk series.

Storyline: 8. The story still holds up. It's got a great little futuristic/Steampunk type story. It's easy to get into. Has a lot of quality details.

Other: Trigun has some nice sound to it, has a good soundtrack. I won't lie I'm not one of those people who do notice the soundtrack a whole lot unless it's extraordinary super annoying. But Trigun does have a good little soundtrack that goes with it.
A lot of the characters are likable. The main character highly relate-able. Vash the Stampede is a bad ass! He uses his Powers and skills to try and not kill anybody. Vash just wants everybody to get along , everybody to better themselves, and doesn't want to hurt anybody. Normally that makes the character kind of annoying and a bit of a pussy. Vash is different though. he uses bad ass skills in bad ass ways to get his point across. I don't know who did it first but vash was the first one I saw so now it feels like everybody characters in anime have red jackets and they all feel like they're ripping off Vash the Stampede just a little bit at least.

Overal: Solid 8. I feel like Trigun maybe holds a little place in the hearts of us who have gone through the anime boom of the 90s. So I can't necessarily call it legendary but it is definitely with out a doubt a classic.

238 Trigun: Badlands Rumble
The movie is Great just like the series. Everything great about the series is the exact same things that make this movie fantastic.
I absolutely LOVE the action scenes in this movie! The bar fight hilarious! the dude messing up the other guys legs then gets pushed off so another fighter comes and stomps his nuts haha. And the random cook like dude ding off the balcony.
The other action scenes are much more intense and serious . So good !

There is only a couples reason I honestly didn't give Trigun: The movie a 10 like the series.
1. Right off the bat you can tell there is a lot more cgi in the movie. To me any ways at first its clear as day but it eventually it ether does fall into the background or lightens up. I'm usually harsher on cgi but its done fairly well in this.
2. Probably more of the reason it didn't get 10. This movie kind of creates some discrepancy in the cannon of the anime. Its supposedly a stand alone movie and I know some series can get away with making non cannon movies or you think sure this could happen between here and here. Just the way Trigun is set up story wise. It bothers me.

So far I really like this series Two episodes in and it already feels really deep. I enjoy the characters ,concept ,and the fight scenes are well done.

I plan on re-watching the whole series eventually.

Dragon Ball Z is legendary. But it is one of those shows you ether get or don't. People ether love or dispose DBZ. DBZ may be legendary but there is a few reasons I give it only a 9. 1. I'm one of the people that like the filler but there is just really unnecessary filler sometimes. 2. You kind of see somethings in one season but then will never see them again in later seasons etc. stuff that doesn't make sense. 3. I personally feel the later seasons go down hill. like the buu saga -_-

Season 1 (1-39)
This is my favorite season of all. Its brutal , emotional , and intense. It paints Vegeta as the bad ass he is before they ruin him. I happen to really enjoy nappa also. Thats just me lol Surprisingly many characters get killed. I personally feel what makes this season especially impact full is its before they start doing the DBZ cliches. * krillen get whooped, goku getting there at the last minute, each villain getting stronger and stronger etc.

267 Tokyo Ghoul
Update: So after seeing a way later more interesting episode my gf was watching I Plan on giving Ghoul another chance.

Tokyo Ghoul is one of those series that just kind of popped on the scene. It went from seeing the occasional merch. to just merchandise everywhere. The funny thing is I didnt really hear any details about Tokyo Ghoul it was always just the very generic "oh it's supposed to be good" So when I got the chance I started watching it. I should have saw the red flags though.

I'm saying this point blank Tokyo Ghoul is not a good series. The biggest draw for Tokyo Ghoul It's gotta be the violence. But that's kind of counter productive. The series was always meant series always meant to be a televised series. So annoyingly most of the time the violence itself is censored. Either with big black shadows over the exact spot where it's happening or they do a photo negative affect. With that one it's nice that you can at least see what's happening and see the violence but it gets old real fast. A lot of times the violence gets thrown in there for the sake of violence in shock value kind of way but being a televised series this is kind of a pointless objective.

you might be asking yourself now "how did it look?" Let me tell you not great. At very first I thought what the f*** is this? It was physically hard to look at. Then talked myself into thinking maybe I'm not looking at what I think I'm looking at. Maybe this is a new artistic choice. Honestly though Tokyo Ghoul does the same bull crap shortcuts all the new animes do nowadays. Shit that makes ugly things to look at.

Hey the little details in animation and violence can be looked though. Am I wrong? Well Tokyo Ghoul doesn't cut it. Tokyo Ghoul does not bring anything to the table I have not seen before. It's not groundbreaking in any way it just doesn't do anything new. It's a basic all the main characters are misunderstood etc. etc. Tokyo Ghoul wants to appear to be deep and sophisticated. They want you to think that they have an interesting take on racism and the Divide between people. But in reality it's not deep at all it's just a flimsy layer. None of the characters are deep, the story isn't deep, and nothing is truly explained. Now I could be wrong because I dropped the series. Maybe later on they do explain some of the stuff that I consider not explained/ flushed out. I'm calling it like I see it and Tokyo Ghoul is not deep. it does one of my biggest pet peeves as well. Characters doing things that make no sense and if anything opposite of what their motivations should be. Now you're going to give a little leeway to shows because you don't want to watch just normal average everyday People. But damn the main character acts like fucking Mother Teresa! Towards the beginning of the series him and his friend are assaulted by another character. He tries to murder them both. Straight up says it to their faces. The main character then course freaks out. His powers come out and he destroys the original assaulter. The main characters then sees this asshole again who is now messed up and crippled basically. Since he can't hunt anymore he is starving to death. The main character then finds out that this douche has a human girlfriend and they actually live together and because of this one little fact he all of a sudden feels bad for the jerk. He then goes out of his way the help him and I'm not talking about like a little thing where he goes and gets him like a slice of meat and just kind of dropped it off. I'm talking about like another villain kidnaps jerks girlfriend. He goes out of his way with asshole to get her back. It's a complete trap just for him! He gets his shit wrecked up for asshole. They get out of it just for them to be like oh okay you going to be part of the group now and gets a job at the same This is why the douche already knew about this place and could have went and got food from this place to begin with at any time! None of the actions made any sense!!! Asshole could have easily of just gone to the café and gotten some meat because he couldn't hunt but what's he do? He fucking starves to death instead. Like I'm sorry but most people would not forgive the dude who tried to murder the shit out of you and your best friend because he happens to have a girlfriend. It is mind-blowing to me like who gives a shit? Everybody in existence has somebody that cares about them and that's going to make you go to Godly Holiness of forgiving? It's crazy! That's what this series is suppose to be about, normal people who by circumstance are different. Expecially the main character. He is just an average school boy.
On top of that I just want to say the douche should have died to begin with. The main character riggity wrecked him up. In a really cheesy funny line the dick said the main character was killing him. So why didn't they just have him get murdered?

Basically none of the characters really have any motivation do anything that they do. The whole series is just them trying to make the characters look cool and deep. Very superficial.
I wasn't a big fan of the pacing. It's not all that exciting I feel like a lot of it could just be cut out and more straightforward. Just I kept thinking the series was going to pick up or start going in a good direction. Instead it would just rub on,trudge on and on. I figured one of the big things about the series the characters mask you see everywhere would be more important. Yet towards the beginning of the series they have them go commission his mask then they forget about it almost all the way up till episode 8.

I could go on and on nit picking and pulling apart cliches but I think its clear I don't like Tokyo Ghoul with good reason. So no reason to go on.

I started watching 07-Ghost for no other reason than it was one of the first selections on Crunchyroles list. In all honesty it was a waste of time.

lets get it out the way its the new style of animation so its bright, straight angles, and generic. When it comes to the character designs nothing really to cry home about pretty generic military uniforms. The clergy outfits were neat but actually nothing I haven't seen before.
The special effects for the "powers" were garbage.
Speaking of the "powers" they made absolutely no sense. They don't explain them ether. At least in the first 10 episodes.
That brings me to my main point. This series just drags on and on and on. There is just way to much going on while absolutely nothing is happening. The characters flip flop between anime stereotypes on a regular basis, powers and bad guys just popping up, on top of random useless dribble. But nothing ever gets done. They don't explain the powers, constant flash backs of shit you just saw, filler filler filler! I gave it a few episodes to pick up then I realized I finished ep. 10 and I was still waiting for it to pick up. I was ONLY on ep. 11 but it felt like it was 20 and was dreading watching 15 more. Thats when I decided to drop it. Truthfully it was for the best.
Bottom line is 07-Ghost is a waste of time.

273 Akame ga Kill!
Akame ga Kill is the next thing being thrown at us heavily and I honestly think its crap.

right off the wave of kill la kill comes another anime with kill in it( I think on purpose) Akame ga Kill. AgK I think has a dragging story, with some lines and motives here and there that don't make sense. It also has the absolutely worst designs. They only way I can put it is nothing in the series goes with each other. Most series and things in general have a theme. You watch an anime about samurai you get general samurai stuff swords etc, you watch sci fi you get general sci fi stuff lasers guns etc. Not in AgK they took everything and threw it together. You have hand held weapons mixed in with sci fi style sniper rifles, you get generic samurai school girls , generic cat girl, crazy wrestler looking armor guy. These are all things you can have but not a single one looked like it was designed for this series. It was like everything was scrap designs for something else then thrown together.

There is the classic bad guy team vs good guy team in AgK but it doesnt really matter because they portray them both the same way. They give no effort trying to portray the "bad" guys as evil. They try and make them relatable. It makes no sense and ads nothing to the story.

Akame ga kill feels like a generic un-amazing anime that is purposely being shoved down are throats to get a pay back on it.

I think this OVA is all around bad. It's pretty much all CGI. No texture , play dog hair, feels like gravity effects nothing. To me using all CGI especially like this screams low quality to me.
The dialog is horrible very generic and cliché. The story is the same. Doesn't feel at all new or unique.

This series is horrible! The art style is horrendous. BAD CGI layered on top of basic cliche new age anime style. Nether looking like they are in the same universe cohesively.

Not only that but The whole thing seems like it was created by a 13 year old. The premises is exactly what I think a 13 year old would come up with. One that is afraid of girls but likes them. "OMG the M(ale) Aquarious aren't allowed to merge with the F(emale) Aquarious but when they do in the first episode its amazing" All of it is just garbage. Sooooo lame. The dialogue and just as bad if not worse. Every line is cheese. like the most obvious cliche things anybody could say.

277 Beck
YEEAAHHH! What do you get when you combine mediocre & overrated? You get Beck Mongolian chop Squad!

Beck is one of those animes I've been told is really good. It has been on my to watch list for years. It happened to be on the Funimation app so I figured it was time to boot it up and scratch it off the list. I really need to stop listening to people's recommendations and any kind of advice! Because for years (I don't even know how long) I've been under the impression It's a good anime and it should be on the list. I was sorely disappointed.

I don't really have much to say so I'll get straight to the point. The first thing that threw me off was the animation style. But you quickly get used to it. Kind of like a modified FLCL Style but the real problem with the series is that it's just straight-up boring. No I definitely wasn't expecting anything extravagant it's not like I expected anybody to do spirit bombs, ghosts, to eat peoples Souls but the idea of you know people getting together and forming a band is a General cool concept. To me they never felt like they were doing anything. I got like eight episodes in every single episode I was still waiting for the series to pick up. You think they would have like interesting band problems or lives? They just really didn't. They didn't do anything of interest in my opinion.
I don't like the pacing of the narrative itself very well ether. Like the characters will start another point in the story doing a little something but then they won't get back to it or reference it for another two episodes. It just drove me nuts 5 minutes in this episode they be doing one thing and then 5 minutes another. Just tell the narrative in a more appealing fashion.
Another thing that got me is a series about music I actually did not like any of it in the show. For a show that somehow spawned singles and albums I don't know how. Either they get better later in the series from where I dropped off or people are crazy because none of the music was really all that great.

Final Thought: Bottom line basically all the selling points of the series where Miss for me. I was sorely disappointed and dropped Beck.

278 Binbougami ga!
Another one from the Funimation list. Normally I would try to watch at least 2 episodes to judge an anime but this is one of the very few very bad exceptions.

This one is pretty short and to the point. The characters , background, and story make no sense right off the bat. I felt like they were trying to go for new original characters but instead made extremely obnoxious characters. For me every character was annoying every second they were on the screen. Thats why I dropped the series after one episode.

281 Crayon Shin-chan
Airing
Well MAL has Shin chan down as still airing but the funimation dub is officialy finished. So I am personaly considering it done. Since what I watched is the funimation dub.

Shin Chan in my opinion is like an anime version of a sitcom. It has no real ptogressive story just shananigans every episode. I personally love the cutesy family animation with the nonstop adult humor. Though I do admit it can get tiring. Shin chan is defiantly better watched sparcely to unwind rathet than binge watched.

Thr highlight of Shin Cchan is the beggining seasons. It kind of takes a dip in the midle seasons. It then picks back up quality wise a bit towards the end. But sadly the last season or two isnt that great. There are a few gems sprinkled in though. Perticularly thr potato episode.

282 Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z
I thought this was going to be interesting. A unique Japanese take on the American powerpuff girls.

Damn was I wrong! Idk if I'm being a little biased because the original Powerpuff Girls was great. I also knew this was going to be really different so I couldn't exactly compare it but jeeses.

This anime is just horrible.I watched 1 full episode then a mix of a few others. I could not watch any more. Its like they couldn't decided if they wanted them to be spies , super heroes , or sailor moon. I could have let that go but what really makes for me this anime unwatchable is the characters little act stupid. They are idiots. They do some dumb shit.

On a random side note Fuzzy Lumpkins was awesome =P

These are special side stories "out of canon" even. They have the potential to be entertaining but they are not they suck half of them are just unwatchable.

Ciel in wonderland is obviously a Alice in wonderland spin off. How can you mess that up ? apparently by doing a horrible mash of the two and making it all up.

Welcome etc etc is almost like a my crib episode or closer to a point and click adventure game. They walk you through the house and stuff via first person view. Just boring.

The making is actually interesting seeing the characters in a if the show was real and they were hired actors type deal. But all the one off jokes are horrible and its dragged out.

Dropped it there couldn't watch anymore. I have seen little side specials before and they can be interesting and fun if done right. These were not.

Truthfully this anime isn't horrible. It has a decent story from what I have gathered, decent characters etc.

BUT
1. The story wasn't unique enough to keep me hooked. I was bored all three episodes I watched.
2. Its mostly if not all CGI. Its done in a way that drives me nuts. I wouldn't exactly say its horrible looking but it's not pleasant in my opinion.

293 Macross F
I'm not going to rate this because I feel 2 episodes is not enough to fairly judge this anime.

But Right off the bat I hated it!( macross frontier)
It has everything I cant stand about newer anime.
its visually super unappealing. sleek but inorganic feeling drawing with CGI. They don't mesh well don't even look like they are in the same universe. Super generic non realistic anime style characters, uninspiring music.
I know I only watched two episodes but the characters them selves uninspiring.

I probably should give this anime more of a chance but this is one of those cases where I'm so disgusted with the animation I don't even want to.

Macross wise as a franchise or as a series as a whole is pretty poor. Because from one series to the next they are wildly inconsistent. Go into one expecting something and its totally something else and not in the good way. They don't work well with each other all feeling like individual series rather than a continuing/ larger universe.

This series in particular shitty veritech designs and transformations. The music ,a staple in the macross series, defiantly seemed physically better and better quality but from what I heard was not catchy.

294 Macross Zero
Wow this was just annoyingly bad!

I'll just get it out the way first bad CGI. I say it over and over again I cant stand CGI.

Another thing that bothered me about Zero was its supposed to be a prequel but it seemed like the tech was more advanced. The ships , the mechs, aircraft all seemed more advanced. Especially the anti U.N. Spacy forces there veritechs seemed more advanced than the original designs. Also the veritechs appeared to do things they never could in the Original.

But the biggest reason I decided to drop this title was the story. Its horrible . I have no idea how it fits into the macross story. Its sad. Just Seemed like an idea some one had then they decided to shove it into macross for the name. The one character and one veritech.

Kenichi is an average anime. Mediocre in all honesty. It breaks no ground and it doesn't really have anything interesting going on story wise.

Technically nothing wrong with it the animation is decent, nothing wrong with the story and flow of episodes as well.

But with so many great or above animes out there it wasn't worth sticking in on an anime that didn't hook me.
