Komi-san wa, Comyushou desu. 2nd Season

This review will be a quickie since this is a straight continuation from the first season!

Story; Tadano continues with his promise on trying to get Komi to make 100 friends in her High-School years. During the second season, you get to meet even more eccentric classmates and wacky attempts to get Komi to communicate to her new friends. Art; Gorgeous, no ifs ands OR BUTS (I love the ending style as well). Sound; I kept comparing the new OST to the previous at first, but ending up loving it and felt it suited the second season perfectly. Character; Komi beginnings to open up more yet ... again because of Tadano, and because of newly built friendships we get to discover some new emotions that we all have been WAITING FOR!!!

Overall, this season was just as sweet as the last. I don't have extreme social anxiety at the least, but I felt similar to Komi during the cat cafe episodes... I love animals, why can't they just love me back. (ಡ‸ಡ)

"Communication is a skill you can learn. It's like riding a bike or typing. If you're willing to work at it, you can quickly improve the quality of every part of your life."

I want to make it clear that this season brought a huge improvement to the show, it stopped being a little comedy without salt and showed moments that were cool to see with significant scenes, which will not happen in the previous season.

Story: No meaningful story progression. The main characters still have their goals of making Shouko have 100 friends. What changes and the events that happen ... during the course of the show, in them there is an advance in Shouko's relationship with Tadano, and in the way she interacts with other classmates.
This jump in progress that occurs from one season to another is one of the qualities that give life to the story told by the show, showing that it is making progress in the world, even if minimal.

Art: Overall there is no change in the art, it has remained the same since the previous show. that's not necessarily a bad thing, the art is good with some very well done scenes, but the problem is that there isn't a change and that's what we want to see something new and interesting.

Soundtrack: There is nothing to talk about here, both in the opening and in the ending there is no change, so if you liked it before, it will stick.

Characters: When it comes to the characters, the protagonists Tadano and Shouko had a minimal improvement in their relationship, there is no progress in behavior between the two. Which is at least stressful for the fan of the show, since we want to see progress in their relationship.
On the other hand, we have the supporting actors, who have improved their presence in the show, ceasing to be just numbers and giving life to the world. A good example of this is the character Katai, who has a problem similar to Shouko's, he brings fun moments to the show. Other characters that bring more life to the work are Ayami and Mikuni, who show a good relationship with Shouko on the school trip.

Conclusion: The show still continues, it has major problems with the lack of progress in the story and characters that do not add anything to the world, this is a characteristic that needs to be changed to capture the lover of the work, without him getting sick of the same things happening again and again.
That doesn't mean he doesn't bring anything new, much of what made me see this work until the end were some characters that "shone" more than Tadano at times. They brought moments that were marked in my memory and that is very good, this show just needs an innovation, stop following the original to the letter and try to take chances.
This work went up a lot in my opinion compared to the previous season. Because of having created memorable characters and incredible moments like episode 9, where Shouko spends the episode with Ayami and Mikuni, on a trip. In this episode there were so many good moments, which showed that Shouko was managing to overcome her fears little by little.

In general, it is not a waste of time to watch this show, if you have watched the previous season, you may improve your conception of the work.

Even though it says 2nd Season on the title, for me it doesn't feel like it. It just feel like the 2nd part, because everything barely change. From the story to their animation quality. I don't know why they didn't make the first season 24 episode. But well, that's that and I'm just gonna watch it.

Story 10/10
They still got the same style on how to told the story. You'll get this thing called Communication to separate the story from one another. An episode usually have 1-5 Communication. Almost every episode use the same formula where they exaggerate something. For example when they had a snowball ... fight, they make the scene like its something straight out of shounen anime. But they do it for the sake of being funny, not because they want it look like a fighting anime. They also like to parodying other shows. Also their humour, its freaking golden. I laughing my ass off every episode. The build up, the pace, the jokes, its all gold.

Art 10/10
Everything is beautifully drawn and animated. The character design, the background, the effect. Remember above I mention about the shounen anime thing, its one of the fan service for your eye. Because its epic. There's a lot of text on the screen. Either its on Komi's notebook or a bubble text. The bubble text really improve the scene and add some manga vibe. They also change the artstyle a little bit to match with the situation, I love that little touch.

Sound 10/10
A lot of SFX is being used here, especially to add more to a funny scene. And let me tell you this, its great. Not overused or cringe, all is balanced. The VA deserve a thumb up too, they all doing a good job making a voice to match with the personality. Don't forget the catchy OP and ED. Its always a relief when hearing them.

Character 10/10
Almost every character trait imaginable is here. You name it, yandere, kuudere, chunibyou, and the other that don't have a name. Its crazy how they can make this many characters with different personality and make the show run smoothly. The character name also connected in some way with their personality, like a pun. So it feel kinda cool if you know Japanese and recognize the pun. Because there's a lot of characters here, a screentime is gonna be a problem. But it isn't a big problem, they find a way to include at least one interaction with the MC. They have a narrator here, it act as a person that explain some scene to make it more clear to us viewer.

Enjoyment 10/10
I love this series, it balanced everything out. The comedy, the story, the romance, the characters, basically everything. I'll read the manga too, it have like 300+ chapters so it'll be a while to read them all. I'm also looking forward to the next season where they are all in 2nd year. I think non-anime fans will not enjoy this anime to the fullest. Because if you wanna know some of the jokes and sarcasm here, you at least need to know a thing or two about anime steorotype. But not every jokes is an inside jokes in the anime community.

I watch some of the episode with my cousin, she is a weeb too and a tomboy. We had a great time pointing every funny scene in the episode, its like we have some connection and know the reference. So if you have some weeb friends, just invite them to watch this and laugh all along. That's all I can say about this anime. Thank you for reading my review.

I don't know I kind of enjoyed the first season of Komi Can't Communicate but later on when I started to watch second season I started to realize that I grew tired of Komi as the main character. There are some enjoyable characters for me such as Najimi and Tadano. But this is really tedious that after so many interactions with other people Komi stays as she was before. This is like in children's cartoons where everything that had happened so far becomes forgotten in the next episode right away. And like why would you add so many new characters? What's the point of that ... if that character wouldn't talk or "socialize" with Komi for the next 2-3 episode or even more. This makes me anxious and feel sad like what's value in such friends. And this supposed to be a comedy? I think that the main problem why this show started to annoy me more than be somewhat enjoyable to watch is that we experience some sort of loop where other characters try to change something but in the end everything stays the same way what in my opinion looks like "Endless Eight" in Haruhi.

The animation is unbearable to the point where you question your self, if this is a power point or an audio book. Visual is good as usual but it doesn't translate with the animation, regardless its visually translate the aesthetic but with its lack of animation. The presentation to the concluding story or joke comes out anti climatic and also tying with the character. There are nuance of interesting character in season 2 but it comes out so hard to enjoy these new character when they're try to do something funny but it come out as the character are just doing a funny still pose ... because of a lack of budget and sometime when they do show animation. They'll only animation certain proportion of the anatomy and have that certain motion move in repeat like a gif. You don't even feel the resonation of the two couple correlation with its boring comedy build up just to see the closing moment of komi say something wholesome in a couple minute from it fix animation. There are some episode with decent amount of animation accept it also suffer with the same problem as the first season as well. They should change the show as KOMI CAN'T EXPRESS FULL MOTION BUT ONLY EMOTE.

All i can see is these marketing hype, forcibly revenue the money out on takagi san season three, the loli ninja and single hair bang girl but yet still a forehead playing shogi. Because after seeing these hiccup like takagi season 3 animation. These seem to be some weird corporate abuse. This isn't right, having these animation studio to be rushed so that they can make it to the deadline just to match up the lineup. That what I see in komi with its summer time rendering hype while branding naming the director.

What there doing is burning these studio out and having them orchestrating their own studio like what trigger and khara studio is to gainax and what clover studio is to a1. Deadline makes sense for seasonal date but for a bundle hype, they better be paying some good shit or give them some good work ethic, timing or better yet freedom. This is concerning for the Japanese business practice. I really do hope japan as a country can survive as a society.

I gave it a three because episode 8 has some gay joke. You can say it gender equality

The return of wholesome the anime(minus Yamai). Komi-san season 2 gave us more of the same as season 1 with adding some new characters in the mix. Just like season 1, it was very enjoyable and it's a pleasure watching Komi and her friends do random stuff every week.
Art: 9
The Art and Animation continue to be really smooth and there are many vibrant colors and backgrounds that really compliment the show really well. I still think the character designs are whatever, but as this is season 2 I cant really discredit it there. Really solid art overall.
Sound: 9
The sound design just like in ... season 1 was really solid. Whatever the mood is that they are trying to express, the background music and sounds do a really good job complimenting the mood. Also, the ending theme absolutely smacked.
Characters: 8
We got some development from both Chadano and Komi this season, however, I still think some of the characters overall are a little generic, but the new characters they introduced are all a blast to watch.
Story: 8
The story is solid, I do hope to see the time when komi achieves her 100 friend goal, but I also enjoyed the development between the two main characters, and I hope to see more of that later down the line. Overall a solid fun watch.

Finally ! Komi Can’t Communicate Season 2 ! One of the most highly anticipated animes of the Spring 2022 season. I was a little late on it, but I had several other shows on my to watch list. However, I managed to finish up all 12 episodes pretty quickly.

And what did I think?

It was good. Not great. But good.

I didn’t write a review for the first season, so either you can believe me when I say that I gave the first season an 8 or you can take a quick peak yourself on my list.

I gave this season a 7. And ... I have my reasons why.

Story - 8/10

The story and the layout of season 2 are pretty much the same as season 1. Komi is trying to achieve her goal of obtaining 100 friends, and she has her friends from the first season assisting her and going through everyday highschool life right alongside her.

Each episode has about 3 different situations that Komi goes through alongside Tadano and the gang, shifting between chaos in the classroom, outings, meeting new people, etc. And within each one, Komi struggles and tries to adapt to the situation despite her communication disorder.

A genius and adorable idea if handled correctly, which it was. Barely any issues despite your slower scenes and occasional lack of individuality.

Art - 7/10

Just like season 1, I thought the art was nice. But there were a little more hiccups in season 2 with shifting animation quality and what not, especially in the last 3 episodes. Don’t get me wrong, it was still very pretty and pleasing to the eye, but season 1 was cleaner.

Sound - 7/10

Sound was, once again, decent, but there was still a slight downgrade to season 1. I didn’t enjoy the season 2 op as much as the op from season 1. But the actual ost from the show itself was just as in enjoyable in both so I’m not gonna downgrade it that much

Character - 6/10

Just like season 1, season 2 offered us interactions with several different characters both old and new. The different types of characters in Komi Can't Communicate is certainly something that I appreciate because of just how different everyone is. The fact that each character we come across has a different personality certainly makes way for entertainment…

There wasn't exactly a problem with this idea as a whole per se…but season 2 was definitely more extreme in the character department than season 1 was.

We of course have our old characters like Tadano and Komi. Zero problems here as I enjoyed them just as much as I did in season 1. Yamai (who was still a huge nutcase as always and was honestly a bit more creepy in this season than the last), Najimi who was, of course, hilarious and entertaining, etc.

Now…the NEW characters were.…very weird. There were a few that I found to appreciate like the new class delinquent who almost has a communication disorder just like Komi, the two girls that joined Komi's group on their school trip to Kyoto, and the super sweet girl from episode 11.

Aside from that…everyone else felt out of place. Their characters felt very forced to me and unnatural, even though personality is a necessity for a good character. I mean come on, we really got a look into the character of a female tour guide in episode 7. Totally unnecessary.

In all honesty, I feel like the amount of new characters that we received in season 2 really took away from new connections we could have gotten between Komi and Tadano, as well as the other older characters from season 1. It was just a little too much compressed into 12 episodes

Enjoyment - 7/10

I won't lie, I was expecting season 2 to be the same enjoyment level if not better than season 1, but it falls short for me a tiny bit.

My reasonings from above pretty much explain why I gave the enjoyment a score of 7 and there's not much else I can say.

I thoroughly enjoy the attempt that Komi Can't Communicate series tries to offer as a whole. The idea is great, the comedy aspect is good (if not a little excessive and weird at times *cough *cough thanks Yamai) and I love seeing Komi evolve each episode.

Just like I said before, things felt a tiny bit squeezed together and a bit TOO excessive as far as people's obsession with Komi goes. But other than that, season 2 offered a decently fun time.

Overall - 7/10

Despite everything, I thought this season of Komi Can't Communicate was a good one. I was highly anticipating it ever since I finished season 1 last December and I think it delivered to its fans fairly well, and I eagerly await to see what's in store for season 3.

Komi-san wa, Comyushou desu. 2nd Season (2022)

The hype fades. I never really understood the hype in the first place and the first season was pretty good don't get me wrong, just here it sort of fades. Whilst the show is fun in its own way it tries to be super unique with the odd characters but all it does is do what every other school anime show does but with unusual conversation and actions. The result though is always the same.

The art is good mostly, I still don't really like the way Komi is drawn nor do I have many characters, it sort of ... feels crude. I know it is based on the source but aesthetically it does nothing for me. Other shows modernise the style like Gundam etc. This isn't a show based on 1980s material. Komi herself can look good but mostly just sort of looks a bit odd, the cute side is nice though. The show does have at least one episode where it goes from like 720p right down to 240p in terms of quality. The show was never crisp but it also wasn't like that.

The sound is the same as before, it is nice and doesn't really do anything more than it needs to do. It tries to be dramatic but it's like they haven't added the depth to the sound.

Characters like I say try too hard to be unique but end up doing the same antics as everyone else in every other show.

In the end, the show for me is now bang average, not good nor bad 5/10. There are other much more deserving shows out there.

I'm not much of writing reviews or anything but here it goes. I'd like to address some initial misconceptions you may have before starting the show.

Firstly, Komi can't communicate is NOT a romcom, don't expect a confession or a couple by the end of the show. This anime is a SLICE-OF-LIFE based in school years, did you enjoy high school when you were young? If so, then there will be tons of nostalgia in this show.

Secondly, the plot goes around Komi making new friends and overcoming her extreme social anxiety, this is not a process you will see in just 24 episodes, Rome ... was not built in a day. However you will see small but steady progress.

With that out of the way, let's start with the PROS and CONS.
PROS
- The soundtrack has nothing to envy to other more popular shows, is right on point and even takes part in scenes from the show.
- Each character has his own personality and traits, some enjoy food, others anime-videogames, fashion, narcissists, really friendly, mature, there is even a so called yandere, the normy Tadano, Komi whose beauty makes everyone fall for her to the point of taking her as a god in some occasion lol.
- There are many "serious" scenes where characters express their feelings/emotions/opinions where you can clearly see how they are growing.
- There is continuation to events, unlike other Slice-Of-Life where you see different segments which seem independent from each other, here you can follow a high school continuation of events (Festivals, valentines, birthdays, sports festival, exams, etc) which will eventually lead to the end of the school year.
- Animation overall is amazing for a Slice-of-life, the directors were able to give the anime the same high school vibe as in the manga with some amazing character drawing aswell.
- The original material has been respected and any manga-reader is more than hyped for what is coming next.

CONS
- In episode 10-11 you can clearly see some animation problems due to having the quality control responsible out sick and having some outsourcing done. However this can early be forgotten with episode 12 which clearly demonstrates what this how is capable of.
- It has slow phasing, as I mentioned before, you won't be seeing a conclusion by the end of the season as there are over 200 chapters left to adapt. Without giving an important spoiler the show will slowly transition to a side-romcom and a clear difference of character development between season will be visible.
- Some new characters can be annoying at some points of the story as they haven't yet made their important contributions to the show. But will become very relevant to the plot later on or some may be left behind. These are some consequences to having a story will many new characters but respecting the manga's speed.

Overall Komi can't communicate will make you remember your high school years, make you laugh at the many occurrences of the trio Komi-Tadano-Najimi and some great side characters like Otori and Onemine. If you just started the show then I suggest go to the manga or wait for the new season, all these character introduction and slow development will pay off in the future.

Overall 9/10, hyped for what comes next.

As I said before, the animators love this series. To me, at least its really nice on the eye and some may disagree, that's understandable. The art style is actually really nice to me. The only problem is sometimes they like to not give the characters eyes which most of the time I don't notice unless they do it to a notable character which then ... I dislike

Sound-
I can't comment on sound design, however where I will comment is opening 1 and ending 2. Although ending 1 is serviceable, but not to die for and I personally dislike opening 2. But my god... Cinderella(OP1) is such a good song that I play quite frequently, and Koshaberi Biyori(ED2) has been on repeat since the first time I've heard it. I love it.

Characters-
I enjoy the characters. The characters names often reflect their personalities as a play on words. The point is that they are the exact definition of a character trope, and I find that quite interesting, and it also makes each character completely different.

Enjoyment-
I watched this series from start to finish with my best friend and I had an amazing time, from start to finish. Every week I would look forward to each episode that came out. It was a very fun watch.

Overall Score-
I give this a 8/10 because the story is indeed kind of basic, and at times some of the characters did get on my nerves but it was a fun watch and it made me feel the same sort of way that Takagi-san (one of my personal favorite series) makes me feel.

Signs.....Haaaaaa ahhhh, there goes studio OLM again, making a sequel of this otherwise stupid anime...... As in WTF is the fuck with this sequel?

Story:

Pros: It was nice that , this sequel wasn't mostly about Komi, cu'z in this sequel her classmates get to have their own aired time both with Komi or with Tadano....

Cons: Except that Komi was still this beautiful lass that for some wired reason that them Japs keep coming up with strange disorders that were just too pathetic to begin with, whom up to now still "CAN'T SPEAK UP!!!!!!!"

Verdict: 6 Over 10.

... Art:

Pros: The usual eye candy uniform.

Cons: No Osanajimi's fanservice.

Verdict: 5 over 10.

Sound

Pros: Tadano having to sound a bit mature, Osanajimi's expressive tone.

Cons: Having a seiyuu to do Komi's voice was just a waste of her time.

Verdict: 1 over 10.

Character

Pros: We now get to know everyone in Komi's class including new comer that looks like a bully but was not, Katai, Makoto and the overly narcissist, Naruse, Shisuto...but still Osanajimi still adds spice to this otherwise poor anime.

Cons: Komi who for some wired reason still "Can't speak up!" and Hito Hito Tadano who was more pathetic than before.

Verdict: 6 over 10. That's for the support characters and Osanajimi.

Enjoyment

Pros: It was those side characters and Osanajimi that has kept me from dropping this poor anime....

Cons: Komi's weird disorder was just annoying and so as Tadano.

Verdict: 3 over 10.

Overall

Verdict: 3 Over 10...

Just an anime that was not worth dropping but worth skimming some episodes, so another sequel????? Ans, Don't even think about it , Bitch.

The concept of the anime is a really good idea and it would have been an even better series only if it was written better.

What I need to do, after watching these series, is to let it out of my system and I really cannot keep it to myself. I will just point the main problems with this anime and perhaps these suggestions will be realized in future episodes otherwise, I see no point in the anime.

The main problem is with the lack of character development in side characters. Their only ... purpose is to show that one specific characteristic about them and nothing else and the way they are showing it is only in the extreme way. So, we have "the dog character", "the sexual abuser", "the ninja" (whatever that characteristic may be), "the ultra hyperactive person", "the Kaido wannabe" (from The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.), "the competitive chick" etc.
You see no personality, no special emotions, no development and I find it hard to connect with those characters.

HOWEVER, the only thing I find uplifting and cute was the bonding between Komi and Tadano. That is the only thing which is carrying this anime. Therefore, why not focus on that? I believe that many viewers found the scene in which Komi still decided to open up to Tadano and call him on the phone heartwarming. Am I wrong? At that moment, for the first time, I truly felt nice watching this anime. That is what I believe this anime should be about. Not her making fake friends but showing the progress in her life and finding true people who you should surround yourself with.

Another scene that was really pleasant to watch was the Valentine's Day episode, but only the small part of it - the ending. The relationship between Komi and Tadano is going somewhere and that is what is giving you, the viewer, hope that this show has potential.

All in all, instead of forcing the unnecessary vulgarity, making people worshiping Komi as if she was a goddess, which, lets be real, in real life, nobody looks at a shy, uncommunicative person that way, the anime should try and bring more innocent relationships with friends, help Komi turn her written words into spoken words, show the viewers how it really looks and feels like being the person presented as Komi.

The list is getting closer to 100. Woo!

Another one of my favorite romcom comes to an end. Komi season 2 is everything I loved from season 1 gets upgraded with a whole lot more spices.

As a romcom, this new season started to shift more towards romance, and I was down for it all the way. There were numerous moments, subtle and direct, that built romance between Tadano and Komi. I could feel myself heating up in excitement at these sweet and kawaii moments.

The side characters again provided the majority of the comedy. I didn’t realize that the characters’ names are all based on ... their personalities or relationship to Komi. There’s more friends, each with different exaggerated traits, that cracked me up. The old characters from season 1 became more exaggerated, especially Yamai.

Not only this, the side characters again worked amazingly to boost Komi as a character. Komi became more interesting and cute. The journey she is still going through becomes more investing.

Overall, Komi Can’t Communicate keeps getting better and more adorable. Looking forward to her reaching her goal of 100 friends in season 3. 8.5-9/10

Komi is Still Your God.

If you’ve watched the first half or read the manga then I am delighted to tell you that the second half of Komi Can’t Communicate is still just as well written, funny and stunning as you’d expect… except for one caveat we’ll get to later.

Komi is still adorable and totally incapable of properly talking to people, Tadano is still adorable and completely normal by the personality standards that surround him and their friends who all inhabit different jacked-up-to-11 slice of life, romcom anime character archetypes are still as hilariously weird and entertaining.
The newly introduced classmates are all wonderfully presented. ... Katai, Narsue and Kometami are especially well introduced and memorable. OLM goes above and beyond when it comes to adapting the manga to anime. Dynamic camera angles, sakuga flourishes, wild music choices, it all adds the quality and truly makes the story of Komi Can’t Communicate fresh to those of us who have read the manga like a good anime adaptation should… except for one caveat…

Like last season this was an easy run in for '10/10 practically perfect', but unfortunately there was a major drop in animation quality around episode 10 and 11 which I just can't get past. It was so jarring and so bad that episode 10 was almost unwatchable compared to the quality that viewers would’ve been enjoying up to that point. Episode 11 was a bit better, but still had rushed, jacky animation which really went into showing what an average adaptation of Komi could potentially look like.
We don’t know for sure why this happened. I personally think that OLM had Covid outbreak considering Pokémon took a 2 week break, but because of the contract with Netflix they had to push whatever the animators could do out the door… which sucks. Like I said, I don’t know if thats what happened, but it probably wasn’t OLM’s fault.

Though it’s story contents so still good, those two episodes are a blemish on what I was expecting to be an easy 10/10. However, it’s not the end of the world. The adaptation overall is still amazing and the last episode makes sure it reflects the standard of the series. I would still highly recommend it if you’re into your romcoms.

I don't know what happens in the manga, I don't know how good the manga is that somebody says the anime should be better, but the anime this season of Komi-san is good. The first season showed us the cuteness, and a little romance, so it was kind of boring. But the second one has much better things, it still has the cuteness and romance, the romance is expressed better in this season, it also has the hilarity that the first one had failed to make. Overall, Komi-san season 2 is not a so great anime, but it's fine to watch. It would be sad ... if it doesn't reach the 8.0 score.

KOMI-SAN CAN'T COMMUNICATE 2nd Season

For season 2 of Komi-san we're given even more of what made season 1 so great: wholesome moments, a wonderful and wild mixed bag of characters, and CHADano-kun and Komi-san. On top of that, season 2 begins to push Tadano and Komi's feelings for each other which adds a wonderful romantic layer to an already great show.

STORY: 9/10
Komi-san's premise has always been unique and lovable. On the surface it is a standard high school slice of life, but add the aspect of Komi-san's social anxiety and her quest to make 100 friends and you have a fresh plot. What I loved ... about season 2 was the development of Tadano and Komi's feelings for each other. It added an extra layer to an already very solid plot that gets you even more hooked on such a sweet and wholesome tale.

ART & SOUND: 9/10
There have been some clamor about how the animation quality has dipped this season, particularly in the later episodes. In all honesty, I would not have even noticed it if I had not heard of these comments. Once I did, however, I guess I was able to notice it slightly as I had my eye out for it. Maybe it was more use of the cute low-poly style that the show often uses rather than having more dazzling and gleaming moments like that of Komi-san in her gym uniform from season 1. Overall, I will not take it against season 2 as I would not have even noticed it if there were no complaints. The music is wonderful again particularly the ED (and its amazing visual).

CHARACTERS: 10/10
The show is headlined, of course, by Tadano and Komi. I don't think I need to explain any further about how wonderful they are individually and how much greater they are together. Tadano continues to be an absolute chad and just a great and lovable character while Komi remains the adorable and heartwarming sweetheart that she is. However, many shows can have a great leading duo, but what sets Komi-san apart from other slice of life/romcoms is the amazing set of supporting characters. With the main goal of the show for Komi to accumulate 100 friends, you would expect we would meet a plethora of different characters and we have met a lot so far. What's so special is how amidst the many characters we have met, each of them are unique with regards to their character and their relationship with Komi. Take for example, we have the chaotic trio of Najimi, Yamai, and Nakanaka to provide the wild and crazy fun while we have characters like Agari, Onemine, and Otori who are just charming and calming characters. Komi-san also provides each character with their own little segment/arc where we are introduced to them and discover how they eventually befriend Komi. All in all, the many crazy, charming, and wholesome characters of Komi-san is definitely what sets this show apart for me.

ENJOYMENT: 9/10
I love this show and it is hard to hide. From having one of the best pilot episodes to Komi and Tadano's heartfelt moment in the latest finale, each episode is just so fun and relaxing to watch. No moment or episode ever feels draggy as it always just feels light and fluffy like a cotton candy.

Overall: 9/10
Season 2 of Komi-san Can't Communicate continues to deliver more of what made the first season so great and adds on it with the growing development between Tadano and Komi. While I feel that season 1 may still have a slight edge over this season, this was definitely no disappointment capped by an extremely sweet finale between our two leads that has you so excited for what's next in store as they move up a grade.

Second verse same as the first; if you liked Komi Can't Communicate Season 1 you'll like Season 2. If you didn't like Season 1 you won't like Season 2.

"More of the same" can easily be used as an insult but I think in a lower stakes Slice of Life like this one it's actually a compliment. Season 2 keeps with the formula of Komi experiencing various different social difficulties and making new friends across an episode, rinse and repeat. However, the frequent introduction of new, strange students with different social problems than her keeps it fresh and fun.

This isn't to say that I don't think ... there were improvements made. The animation seems better, the new characters were even more dynamic, and the jokes were funnier. I think it took what I liked in Season 1 and amplified it, making an even stronger end result.

Slowly you see the fruits of character progress that is absolutely glacial but in a way I like. Komi and Tadano have grown a lot in many little ways and seeing their relationship very slowly come together is satisfying.

It's also fun to watch the secondary cast change with them, for example I feel like the class at large has stopped putting Komi on a distant pedestal and instead she feels like a regular popular girl who actually has a lot of friends. It's very sweet. I also like the embellishment of the classmates forming relationships with each other outside of Komi and Tadano.

All in all, great, cute little franchise. Will look forward to more.

I would recommend this anime to anyone, even if they don't watch anime. I love the story and the characters the most. The show is absolutely hilarious-- especially when it comes to the characters. It's not a sense of humor where it would be "Funny" it's more a sense of humor that is just relateable or ironic.

I wish the anime followed the manga closer as the anime skips some chapters that aren't important but just round out the show/manga as a whole. This is usually the case for anime, but would just like to point it out. I love the character development so far ... and I can't wait to see more episodes.

This anime is very, very enjoyable please watch it.

If you do enjoy this anime, please read the manga. Don't be intimidated by the chapters. They're really short.

People who complain about this show not depicting social anxiety or treating it seriously are the same type of people that are completely ok with wish-fulfillment fantasies where the MC gets a harem and having women fight over him, despite possessing no special features that warrant such attention. For other reasons though, this show is not too good.

Isekais and Rom-coms are over-saturating mainstream anime. This season especially so, with five of the top six most anticipated shows being rom-coms, and the other one being an isekai. How does Komi-san wa, Comyushou desu fare?

Not great. Aharen-san wa Hakarenai has virtually the same storyline and female MC, ... but it's the better show. The main difference here is the routes that the shows decided to take. Aharen-san wa Hakarenai sticks with a pretty small cast, maybe 5 relevant characters, with the main characters being actually funny to watch most of the time. Komi-san, on the other hand, has easily 10+ side characters, with the main characters contributing not too much to the actual comedy or appeal of the show. Again, in Aharen-san, the main couple is actually funny to watch, while in Komi-san, the side characters are the ones that are actually comedic and well made characters, while hte main couple is there for the ride.

What does Komi contribute to the show? What are her personality traits? For the amount of screen time she gets, she definitely doesn't get a lot of characterization. Even by the end of this season, we can conclude that she's got "extreme social anxiety." I can't believe I'm saying this, but disclaimer: this is probably not the daily depictions of a normal person with social anxiety. They aren't being worshipped as an idol, and probably don't have such a comedically token trait. Hell, Watamote depicts social anxiety 100 times better, and the cringe that it produces is exactly what made it more realistic. Here, the social anxiety is just a way for Komi-san to differentiate herself from all of the other heroines in other rom-coms while also being a good stepping stone for comedic situations and misunderstandings. Anyways, like I said, Komi-san doesn't really contribute much to the show other than being extremely beautiful and er, have social anxiety. She gets idolized by everyone else in the show, but outside of that, is pretty useless. She's not relatable, not funny, and debatably, "not cute." Again, if you think her interactions are cute, congratulations, you probably love this show. I didn't.

What about Tadano? Yeah, he's an extremely basic, bread and butter JP MC. With only kindness and mediocrity to his name, the only reason he ranks as a love interest is because he approached Komi first. But then again, he's actually kind of funny sometimes due to his synergy with other cast members, but the same thing cannot be said about Komi.

The other side characters are all much better, and a funnier than the main characters. Even the token or archetypal characters end up being good. Yamai, the stalker and Nakanaka, the chuunibyou, are actually still good characters because despite being pretty basic, they branch off into their own personality traits, even forming rivalries with each other. Najimi's the best character, but Katai is also good. Najimi's charasmatic, sets up a lot of comedic scenarios with his energetic, but sometimes non-committal attitude. He's also lazy sometimes, but also an easy person to talk to. Anyways, I'm not going to list each side character and say why they're better than Komi or Tadano. However, they make the backbone of the story, and are the reason why the show ends up being watchable.

The author did a great job of diversifying his cast of characters, because he knew that Komi and Tadano were too boring to actually carry the story by themselves. The problem is that Komi and Tadano are still in the story, and take up a decent chunk of the show's screentime. The best chapters are the ones where there are other characters that are the focus of the show, or at least, Komi and Tadano aren't the main focus. The more screentime dedicated to Komi and less side characters present at the scene, the less funny the show is. The most boring chapters were when Komi went along with a group of two other girls on a field trip to Kyoto. It was utterly boring, and the few funny scenes were because the two girls were good characters and had good dialogue, not because of Komi herself.

This show's main characters are definitely pretty generic when it comes to it's ranking amongst other rom-coms, but the side characters are enjoyable to watch.

After an incredible first season, it was announced very quickly that Komi Can't Communicate would be back for another season, with more time for Shouko Komi to add to her ever growing list of friends! I'll assume you've seen the first season for the purposes of this review.

Story & Characters: Komi Can't Communicate Season 2 continues our story of how Komi continues to go about high school life, more specifically, her first year of high school, with way too much social anxiety to communicate with anyone in ways that doesn't include her pad of paper. We get to see Komi in different settings ... around her high school life, most of which don't even take place at the school itself. These include her house, and even on a class trip. After the first season mostly took place at school, this does mix it up in a way that makes this second season feel a little more distinct from the other.

Included in all of this are some more new characters with a group that I collectively liked more this time around. New for this season includes muscular, but gentle giant Makoto Katai, ego-filled Shisuto Naruse, overly friendly Amami Satou and athletic Chika Netsuno. Ayami Sasaki and Mikuni Katou are two classmates that are randomly selected to spend time with Komi, while awkwardly trying to figure out how to interact with her without Tadano around. It's a fantastic mix of characters, once again, and overall, they provide interactions that are more toned down that the group from the first season, which I found I enjoyed a little more. Tadano is still a bit of a nervous blob when it comes to interacting with Komi, and I wished they kept him a little more level headed like he was in the first season. Providing progression shouldn't be at the sake of a fun yet serious narrative, and I felt like that was the case when the series could have played more tender moments better. This series just tries to insert jokes too often. Komi's still a bit of a mystery as she still struggles to communicate on a daily basis, but you do see steps taken on a personal level with her, though this kind of reinforces the series as a bit of a slow burn show to begin with.

The story itself goes through the remainder of our characters' first year at high school, and what you're basically looking for are how characters interact with each other in the series. I didn't see Katai and Naruse as characters I expected to be much, but still brought an entertaining element to the series, both of which interacted with Tadano more than anyone else. The series doesn't have to squarely be about Komi, and these two kind of show that.

One minor problem I did have with the series is that it did feel a little too hectic at times. There simply was too much going on in front of us, and it results in a bit of an unsteady feeling. While some of this surely is intended, such as the beginning half of the Christmas episode, I found that I didn't know what I was looking for, and it left me tense, but not in a fun way. Unpredictability tends to be a good thing, but here, it just felt like too many ideas were clustered into the scenes at once.

One thing that always comes up in school-setting series is, where does the story go from here? You need new ideas to carry our characters through their final two years, and I'll be curious where it goes, should the series continue in its animated form. Both season 1 and 2 provided a nice mix of settings, and even if the large number of characters felt overwhelming at times, it was easy to like them as we went on. The relationship that's been building on Tadano and Komi is another aspect you hope continues to evolve, and you have to think it'll take more steps as we go as well. The ending felt mostly satisfying, and I'll be eager if this series continues at a later date. (Story: 8/10, Characters: 8/10)

Art: Just like with season 1, season 2 continues to look really nice. It's well animated and everything flows along very smoothly. The funnier moments play out like a low-framerate series that do add to the overall feel, and I thought there weren't many spots to pick at here. (9/10)

Sound: Likewise, the sound also kept consistent from the first season. I have no real comments here because it's still strong. (9/10)

Overall Enjoyment: Komi Can't Communicate Season 2 is yet another strong series in the most stacked anime season to date. It continues the strength of the previous season, and adds more elements to create new moments between our characters. I'm not sure if they intend to carry these ideas into Komi and Tadono's second school year, but I'll be here for when it does. (9/10)
