Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon S: Nippon no Omotenashi - Attend wa Dragon desu

I must say if you love Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid series then you will definitely love this.


It's just as wholesome, fun, and charming as a regular episode. You must have read in some other reviews that it has "loli fanservice" and so on but to be honest those scenes are barely noticeable, really short, and most probably won't notice them, that is unless you are really looking for them (like some kind of insane critic).


So to conclude I would say that you should just ignore those reviews, go ahead and watch this wholesome treat and enjoy it to the fullest.

Since this is a single anime special, I'm just here to talk about what I thought about the OVA without diving too much into it.

This special turned from a one-episode last Harrah (For now) into a one-hit-wonder in my book. From the moment they announced the OVA with a teaser trailer I knew this was going to be a good one. And it was.

Episode 10 of Season 2 basically promised us a return of Chloe, who was the main star of that episode. It is also coincidentally my most memorable episode of the series because it's one of those out-of-the-blue ideas that we didn't know ... we needed. A successful episode, indeed, warranted a return of this new and likable character. To theme an entire OVA around them was an awesome idea and a gift to everybody who loved that episode, including myself.

Although Chloe was obviously the center of attention in this special, there's no shortage of what makes the series so enjoyed by its fanbase. Moving aside from the controversies over the vibe it gives (COUGH COUGH BIRD APP), this OVA still utilizes the original cast to its fullest potential and nailed the characters and their interactions. In particular, Saikawa meeting Chloe was just about the most wholesome thing to come out of this series, not that it's not wholesome already. Heck, that has been something I've looked forward to ever since the episode aired.

The whole special was just a fun-filled project with a touch of seriousness when it came to the culture shock Chloe experienced. I loved the scene between her and Kobayashi, the vibe was great and the grown-up conveyed just the right amount of information to avoid misunderstanding. Chloe's friendship with Kanna got more development, and I do bet on some sort of tension between Saikawa and Chloe. The potential for these three absolutely guarantees there's more in store.

But of course, the end of the episode and what Kobayashi said to Tohru indicates that there's still more for her and the other Dragons. Season 2 was only the start of KyoAni's genius attempt to tap into the potential of everyone in the cast. This OVA is almost like a message from them that even though the circumstances leading up to this show's sequel season were so dramatic and horrifying, now, they're doing just fine.

With the support from its fanbase, this OVA is like their thank you gift to us, and a heads up that this franchise still has more to come. If a season 3 comes up, you know I'll be back on the hype train.

This is a very fabulous episode which is originally a special episode of "Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon S" BTW, this episode doesn't contain any vital events connected to the main plot; you can skip it if you wish.
This episode revolves around a hangout between Kobayashi's group and a character that was introduced in "Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon S" aka Chloe. The art, animation, characters, and sounds are all on ... the same level as the main series. Which is perfect!
Personally, I enjoyed it very much as it gives the same vibe as the main series which I obviously liked very much.
If you liked "Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon S" or are interested in Chloe you should definitely give this a shot. Enjoy 💖

Hot dog I was so happy to see this had been released! KMD is pure dopamine for me, from the banger op to the amazing animation. KMDS was a great return to form, and like the first season's OVA this one gets a bit crazy.

First and foremost I don't view the skinship scenes between the kids as anything more than playful fun. Saiktawa's enthusiasm for cute girls was amusing to me, but only because it was just so extra. I think that's a big part of her character, having extreme reactions to things. She's very emotional and has picked fights and taken up challenges ... all because of her emotions. While I can't relate to how she reacts to skinship I do know what it's like to only want your friend to be friends with you. Definitely experienced a lot of sapphic love in my youth.

I know it's cliche but I'm really glad all the gang got together for the OVA. I love the whole cast and it was great seeing them interact. It was a bit of a disappointment to not see any outstanding animation shots like in the main series, but I also get that this OVA was likely a lighthearted project to ease off animating the series. There was also some subtle hints regarding the later plot of the manga, but I wont go into any more detail in case any of you haven't read that far.

I genuinely don't know how Kyoto Animation does it, but whenever they do an emotional scene I'm in tears immediately. My high school friends all moved to other areas of my country and when the girls said their goodbye's at the end my heart ached remembering having to say goodbye to my friends when they left, or worse, finding out they left afterwards and never getting to say goodbye.

Anyway I probably just have rose-tinted glasses for this series because it's gotten me through the last leg of my depression. But yeah, after so long without KMD and then finally getting KMDS I was more than happy to watch this OVA, sing along to the op and ed, and just soak up that warm Kyoto animation I've come to love.

One more thing, please stop loliconing Ilulu. She's the same age as Tohru, just shorter and bustier. KMDS and this OVA really demonstrated how she's just an adult that missed out on childhood, and is reliving it in the healthiest ways she can. Short people can have big breasts, get over it.

Could've been a nice wholesome story, maybe even diving into the differences in culture between Japan and America. But unfortunately, it's a rather generic "summer" episode featuring a foreign character that for all intents and purposes is just another Japanese character.

I know Japan likes their lolis, but this was just bad. It's not even comparable to the loli fanservice in the regular episodes. There the fanservice lies in how cute, seiso, and uwu the loli characters are. In this episode, the loli characters were actually being sexualized. To the extent where background characters were taking pictures of the "hot" loli.

Most of it is just another ... episode, so if you're a fan of the show, watch it. Just be aware of the fanservice moments as they can really pull you out of the flow.
