I know that the comparison can be somewhat obvious because they share a dance theme, but besides that I think they really resemble each other in the style of characters, with the exception that here apparently the dance will be individual performance, and not as a couple as in Ballroom.

Both main characters of their respective shows want to break into some sort of art (Blue Period: painting; Dance Dance Danseur: ballet) but only seriously start it as a teenager while their peers have been doing it for years. Both protagonists struggle to grasp the basics of their art while still retaining a sense of originality.

Same vibe and similar character motivation. Complex relationship between teen with in Apollon music in Dancer ballet on the background.

Both series focus on the characters who want to be successful and be part of an artistic activity like dance/music, both series talk about some stereotypes of the masculinity (ddd in a deeper way tho), and both animes show the obstacles they have to face to achieve their goals.

A personal favorite. A love story mixed with rivalry and a lot of ballet, it has one of the best love triangle if you like a slow building. Both have a way to connect 2 people by unusual means or a rarely seen setup

Teenagers trying to get into the competitive world of performing arts. Also main characters are kind of similar (Junpei == Sarasa, Ruou == Ai).

Both of them are about ballet and inspired by the Swan Lake love story. Therefore, both of them have moments of a fairy tale in which there is a love story between a prince and princess and a curse by the evil sorceress. They both include a wide variety of classical music too and of course ballet dance steps. Dance Dance Danseur is a more realistic anime, whereas Princess Turu belongs more to the fantasy genre.

Two series with inspiring main characters working hard to pursue difficult dreams despite the numerous obstacles in front of them. Junpei (Dance Dance Danseur) aspires to become a talented ballet dancer despite his lack of experience and knowledge. Chiyuki (Runway de Waratte) aspires to become a top runway model despite her short height. Ikuto (Dance Dance Danseur) aspires to become a fashion designer despite not having the resources to study at a fashion institution. Everyone around them is talented, experienced, and determined to achieved the same dream. These dreamers must learn from their rivals and peers, and grasp each opportunity to outshine everyone. Given and Dance Dance Danseur appeals to a similar audience despite having different genres and storyline. They do share major themes: self-acceptance, personal forgiveness, and childhood trauma. Mafuyu (Given) and Luou (Dance Dance Danseur) have similar personality types: quiet, withdrawn, distant and soft-spoken characters. However, Luou has inner fire that comes from his passion for ballet. Mafuyu has none of that charisma and intensity. He remains aloof, which is problematic for a romance anime. Junpei (Dance Dance Danseur) and Uenoyama (Given) provide counterbalance with their loud, social, and cool personalities. However, Uenoyama remains a one dimensional character because the writers didn't explore his emotional character  read more

Children are often burden with the dreams, expectations, and desires of their parents. Sometimes parents forces the burden upon their children; other times children places the burden on themselves. Junpei (Danseur), Ruou (Danseur), and Kousei (Your Lie in April) are such children. Their conflicting emotions about their parents shaping their childhood and their feelings toward ballet and piano. A new relationship helps them to change how they want to live and maybe remove their burdens. Dance Dance Danseur and Your Life in April are very good coming of age stories that are as much about emotional growth as ballet and piano.

Chihayafuru and Dance Dance Danseur are character-focused series about non-traditional competitions. Chihaya (Chihayafuru) and Junpei (Dance Dance Danseur) are underdogs who have less experience and knowledge than their peers, but are determined to become the best. They must push themselves to improve with the help of friends and rivals. Dance Dance Danseur is less known than Chihayafuru, but its audience certainly overlaps.

Dance Dance Danseur and Yuri on Ice appeal to same type of crowd. Dance Dance Danseur is a anime about ballet and Yuri on Ice is an anime about figure skating. Dance Dance Danseur is likely going to be a better anime than Yuri on Ice because there is very good balance between storyline and ballet performances while showing you character development. Yuri on Ice rushed the storyline in favour of ice skating performances while showing you character development. Dance Dance Danseur might not receive the level of attention of Yuri on Ice, but it certainly deserves that attention.

Dance Dance Danseur and Piano no Mori follow similar narrative structures. Kai (Piano no Mori) and Junpei (Dance Dance Danseur) are outsiders who enter the world of piano competition and classical ballet. As untrained individuals with innate talent, they must learn the basics and overcome their frustration over the perceived restrictions placed on them. With the help of their teachers and rivals, Kai and Junpei might just succeed in becoming an accomplished pianist and ballet dancer.

Dance Dance Danseur and Kono Oto Tomare! are two very good anime series about the performing arts. Chiaki and Jumpei have decided to pursue their interest and skills in music and ballet despite their lack of experience and reputations. They must earn the respect and friendship of their peers and teacher to improve their skills. Both series has different character dynamics that elevates their simple stories.

Two series with passionate underdogs trying to succeed in a competitive environment. Carole and Tuesday become fast friends after a fateful encounter and decide to succeed in the music industry with their unconventional music. Junpei forms a friendly rivalry with Ruou after being inspired by his talent and decide to pursue his secret passion for ballet despite his complete lack of formal training. Will hard work and persistence be enough for these characters to reach their goals?

Anime series about the performing arts excel at showing the passion of the main characters. Yes, they are even better than sports anime, which always involves competitions and winning. Artists must not only acquire technical skills, but have to translate their skills into an emotional journey for their audience. Dance Dance Danseur and Nodame Cantabile accomplishes this excellently with different type of characters. The main characters in Nodame Cantabile are an obsessive perfectionist and an eccentric womanchild. The main characters in Dance Dance Danseur are a tortured artist and a natural performer. Each character grows into better versions of themselves. You will enjoy every moment  read more
