Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu Part 2 closely resembles its predecessor, following similar structures and themes. The anime maintains a somewhat slow pace, with animation quality remaining on par with that of Part 1. However, many of the controversial sexual themes from the first part persist, which may be off-putting for some viewers. Despite these issues, the narrative continues to develop by expanding on established plotlines and introducing new concepts and characters that enrich the series' world-building. Notably, many intriguing elements of the story seem to unfold in the background, with only subtle hints being presented to the viewer, adding an air of mystery ... and anticipation. Overall, while the series remains somewhat average, these subtle hints offer promise for more engaging developments in the future.

Finished the "Hype" series as of now and may or may not be waiting for the next season (depends in the mood).

The part 2 of this hyped anime is good although im still not really into it unlike its isekai counterparts which i wholeheartedly follow and read the light novel and manga. It has its own flaws especially the MC which sad to say i really hate (sorry to say to the fans).
I hate his pervert tendencies cause in reality he is still a 30+ man eyeing and having sexual fantasies to minors (although he is reincarnated in a body of a 11 year old ... or whatever). I dont know what the authors mind is thinking. lol

anyway, the part 2 was good enough for me to make me finish watching it.

The good thing about this anime is it exactly portrayed the events in the light novel. And its a good thing since many anime usually doesnt do that and that is a positive thing.


THIS ANIME IS RECOMMENDED FOR THOSE WHO WANTS TO WATCH A NEW ISEKAI ANIME AND DOESNT MIND WHATEVER THE CHARACTER OR THE STORY IS. Although this is a controversial anime and the MC sucks, i still recommend it to those people who dont mind watching something new but still following the isekai trope and is a fan. this may or may not be on your taste. depends on you. watch at your own discretion.

So I'm very torn on this anime. Season 1, I gave a 9/10. This season- I think I was expecting a lot more. Aside from how it ends (basically the last 2 episode), I was quite disappointed. Why?

Well, so far this anime is a story about a creepy loser in his past life who got isekai'd and given a 2nd chance, but is still a creepy loser. He hasn't learned anything. In fact, with what seems like his potential for magic in this new world is completely useless since Rudeus himself is so useless. If I were to categorize him, I think he's on par ... with Subaru from Re-Zero in terms of annoying and stupidity. Both seem to make some progress with character development, only to throw it away an episode later. Both are wanna-be play boys. Both are passive morons. Add in that there could be a case for Rudeus as a pedo, and it's really hard to root for the MC.

In case anyone forgot, season 1 ended with the Cataclysmic whatever they call it- sounds interesting right? Surely they'll do something this season with it. Maybe drop hints on what it is? Maybe explore it a little? NOPE. Instead, they dedicate 7-8 episodes on useless shit that nobody cares about. Then drop hints about NEW gods. Wow, more mystery without letting us know more about the old mystery. Great. Makes me want to know more? No thanks.

Alright, I sound piss. I think I am- this anime has great potential. I can see where how it wants to go, but the structure is all over the place.

Okay, so how about the characters this season? The only decent character is Eris. Everyone else sucks balls. Eris goes from a full blown tsun to like...this optimistic Naruto-type character who is overly hopeful that it's annoying. But it's still kind of refreshing to see. Paul is even more a dick. The Man-God is hilarious, but nothing is revealed. The Sperd dude is alright, I guess. Roxy...*sigh* does nothing. Seriously, this anime is basically as if one big fat loser was telling us a story if he got isekai what he do on a daily basis from his point of view. As far as I'm concern, there are no villains either. Nobody knows what the hell is going on! In fact, nobody knows what anyone is doing or thinking because everyone is stupid as hell and doesn't like to communicate simple needs, wants, and requests.

The only reason I don't rate it lower is because the animation is still so damn good. The drawing, the action scenes, the VA, and even the music is good. But it's held back heavily by its plot, or lackthereof. Add in a very stupid MC who doesn't ever grow, and yeah- not even the fantastic animation can save it.

If there is a season 3, I will be sitting out.

My experience with the series and my reaction to it was mixed. Sure, I do enjoy isekai series and the series had a character to which many Japanese viewers could relate, but the series had a bit too much ecchi even for a series focused on isekai and ecchi comedy. As the protagonist is still a child, I would've expected it to be a bit less ecchi and focus more on relationship development.

With the episodes, the episode numbering still was confusing to me. Was it episode 19 of the first season or was it episode 8 of the second season like the streaming service of ... my choice says? The episode numbering could be a bit more clear so the viewer could distinguish the first and the second season apart.

Apart of plot and episode numbering, the series was pretty enjoyable to watch. Although I've never been to series focusing on magic, it was enjoyable to watch the protagonist go through the happiness and the misery of getting a second chance. The perverted nature of the protagonist also makes it somewhat humorous in a similar way to Konosuba. The music also greatly supported the nature of the scenes by signaling to the viewer if the scene was meant to be humorous or a serious scene for a plot twist.

In conclusion, I rate the series as 6/10. Plot wasn't that great, but the execution was good.

As someone who thinks season 1 is a 10/10, season 2 is a 6/10 at best. I'm probably overrating it because of season 1 and because I read the light novel, but there's enough that is still excellent that it's a fine score.

Light novel readers will tell you that the plot finally gets going. Well, more like the plot starts going in episode 9 of season 1, but the plot isn't what makes the mushoku tensei anime so good. It's the directing, the pacing, how it uses it's medium to enhance the story rather than just be the plot with some animation. Episodes 1-8 is ... perfect for that. Nothing really happens, but the way it presents its world and characters is best in class for any anime ever. Then episode 9 starts and it just tells the story... there's some animation I guess... there's some voice acting... there's some... sounds - I'm not sure I can even call that music - going on... Season 2 has a few good episodes, but perhaps because the plot does indeed get going, the episodes are just telling the plot with some sounds in the background.

You may be fooled by the great OP and ED as well as how amazingly they are implemented, particularly in the first 8 episodes, but every other track is the type of thing some middle schooler who just discovered their first music program could make in an hour. It's just a single instrument playing the most basic tune and that's it. There's even an oft repeated "tense atmosphere" background music that's literally 3 drums hit slowly. That's the entire track. Bum. bum boom. Repeat.

I sometimes imagine that the first 8 episodes of season 1 were directed by hiyao miyazaki and they rest were entrusted to his son. I totally back miyazaki walking out of those episodes. Even with the amazing art and pretty solid source material, it's just so bad.

also VA's of some of the new season 2 characters are annoying. Some of the biggest moments in the series are ruined by bad VA performances.

My short, 6-sentence review:

The world building, animation, plot progression, and adventuring levelled up even more this season, but unfortunately so did the grossness of the main character.

I'm conflicted because as a lover of fantasy and isekai, I want to love this series because so much time, care, and hard work obviously went into it from the studio. But the actual incestuous pedophile of a main character (warning: now explicitly cannon with episode 22) makes it impossible to truly enjoy it and only leaves me sick to my stomach and honestly shell shocked by the end.

I wish the same production value and care ... went into making an anime out of literally any of the other amazing fantasy, isekai stories there are, like The Beginning After the End, because this level of dedication could really propel them to the forefront of the genre. And unfortunately, in this case, it's propelling a series that normalizes and perpetuates pedophilia. Basically, a 10/10 without the main character, 6/10 with him because his gross thoughts and actions take that much away from the overall enjoyment of this season.

I think the story is a bit tighter and has less loose ends and annoying plot conveniences. The side characters here are really strong and really carry the show here as the main character's arc comes to a screeching halt. It is an improvement but it barely changes the actual problems I have with the show.

The world building honestly gets better this season as it takes us somewhere else in the world and really dives deep into the lore of many of the races that inhabit this unknown continent. I scratches an itch for fantasy races that season 1 didn't really hit for and I ... think it still does a masterful job taking pieces of the world and showing them off without just telling you about them.

Like I said the secondary and tertiary characters are really good here. I think the smaller core cast benefits this a lot and helps squeeze out some really powerful character writing.

The story is a lot better this season. It actually feels like a plot instead of 2 episode vignettes that often fast forward past a lot of bits I would have loved to see. A lot of the story is fleshed out and the skipping about is used sparingly.

So with all this improvement or continued prowess why is it a 5?
RUDEUS IS THE FUCKING WORST
Like I thought I hated the sleezy 40 yr old incel in season 1 but it does NOT get better. A bad show can be carried by a great protagonist but this is the opposite. The show continuously shoots itself in the foot by having a deep and emotional scene punctuated by Rudeus continuously falling on his vices of pedo behavior. Like I wish I was joking but if I had a dollar for every scene ruined by "haha Rudeus is masturbating to children again, what a crazy little kid" I wouldn't need to work anymore. I wouldn't care if they actually made his actions morally reprehensible but I promise you... they are never treated as such.

In conclusion, if you are an anime fan you honestly have probably already trudged through some pedo and perverted garabage, but this time it actually is good outside of that. I will end this the same I ended my season 1 review, if you can get past the bad stuff it is good, like really good but it requires persistence.

Did anyone else find the second part of season one not as good as the first part? The charm is consistent. The character development seems just as consistent. But there's no ramp up in energy. The story doesn't get you closer and closer to the edge of your seat. And while I think that resolving family situations is admirable and infrequent in anime as a whole, which itself is a fresh change of pace, this doesn't necessarily make for a compelling story.

Hopefully everything happening now serves as simple character development as an overall strategy to help us care more about the characters once ... we get deeper into the story. Please understand I haven't read the manga. But there's just something about this story in the second half that feels a little bit too meandering.

Maybe a large part of my grievances have to do with the fact that I'm an adult who has priorities, and when I do have free time, I would rather spend it on content that excites me and makes me feel like watching it is worth it. Right now I don't feel that way eight episodes in.

Oh lord. I don't think I can make it to season 2. I've already DNF'd this anime once, not because of the weird implications of when Rudeus met Sylphie or of when he met Eris but because I got annoyed that everything just ended in the mana disaster.

I get now why they don't recommend this to anime beginners, and maybe I should've waited a few more seasons before I watched this, but the positive reviews convinced me. I love this anime. The art and facial expressions are amazing. You can expect the feels to hit during the emotional scenes.

But lord did it make me ... so uncomfortable. Paul, I swept under the rug since he wasn't the main character. But it wasn't even Rudeus' pervertedness since I was so sure that Rudeus would change. Like Paul, he can be a good person at points. I waved away his advances towards Eris since I thought he really was trying to stop and was just teasing her.

But the scene in the second to last episode (and this is the only spoiler), the one that everyone thought was so sad... although I'm glad that he'd stopped and thought about it, I wished he'd done more than hesitate because obviously, he's still mentally 40 and she was obvious still mentally a child. I really thought I could trust him on this. Even though both parties were consenting, she doesn't really know what she is consenting to, does she? I know she loves him, but I don't think she understands whether she loves him like that. Becoming of age doesn't make you suddenly changed into an adult and I really thought Rudeus could be the bigger guy here, but obviously I was wrong.

But anyhow some people don't care that much about all that, and I must say the controversial topics make Mushoku Tensei what it is. I doubt so much attention would've been brought to it otherwise. It's meant to disgust and discomfort and it does just that. Imagine if the whole story had been told in Roxy's perspective. Most people would've just waved it off as another classic isekai with your classic good can-do-no-wrong protagonist.

Although I suppose that's why stuff like Frieren exist. For people like me who can't stomach these moral implications that are too out of our comfort zones. I might come back after binging it a few times because despite everything, the animation and world building is insanely good. So good that even if it had been a Roxy-based story, I'm sure there would still be a sizeable fan base.

At first, I really enjoyed this. Breath of fresh air in issekai genre. Then second season came and took a big proverbial dump on all things logical. Ever since main character got the "daemon eye" things went downhill like crazy and then you realize it's just there for plot convenience.

How in the hell does it make sense for him not to know who's following him if he's able to see the future, or have a rug pulled beneath him. Basically eye works only when writers find it convenient, otherwise it's just a chore for artists to do extra work. Issues with this whole seeing the ... future thing started pretty much immediately where upon receiving it, nothing changed. This small thing made obvious just how irrational all the characters are. Literally at no point in any part of this story is Rudeus trying to use this great future seeing eye.

Am dropping this show because I can't keep up with stupid narrative which decides to break rules they come up with whenever they feel like it. It's just boring and lazy.

The anime is amazing BUT the mc is a creep the only argument is that he has the memory’s of a 30 year old but and mentality of his past self but has a kids emotions due to his body I will continue watching the anime but the mc is a creep a weirdo and unless he changes he’s going to stay a creep in my book even if he did have kid emotions during the whole eris thing he still had a 30 year olds knowledge and did not listen to basic morals of being a human idk if I will continue this anime ... just because the mc and if I do it will be if the mc changes and that might not even bring me back

Season 1 part 1 - Okay I understand the motivation and characters behaviour and is forgivable
Part 2 - What are you trying to achieve?? The biggest problem is the protagonist. This guy never learns from mistake... Absolutely no change in behaviour whatsoever. Come on man at least give me some kind of change or development.
It went from yeah I can give it try to wtf is wrong with this guy.
Communication throughout the series is also a major problem.

The reason for mixed feelings is aside from protagonist every other character's development is just mid but incredible and likable compared to protagonist. Even if someone is ... too stubborn they learn from the past and trying to adapt the present but the protagonist is just letdown.

I don't know man I would love to continue this show if the protagonist is going to change in season 2. But right now it's just frustrating to continue after completing part 2 and specials.

This anime is a classic example of things that should’ve ended way sooner but continued to air anyway and as a result, the writing quickly fell flat. What started as an interesting concept that pulled in viewers for its comedic and novel value, ended as just another anime out of thousands riddled with irritating tropes.

The stark contrast between a middle -aged man who was a pessimistic loser and the slice-of-life fantasy world he landed in created a hilarious tone that had me binging the first season to see how that would continue to be incorporated. Unfortunately, the whole foundation this anime was created on ... with a really good idea slowly started to just disappear and be replaced with a stereotypical fantasy anime with the “humor” being panty and sex jokes on girls who played heavily into the helpless-to-assault trope.

This didn’t stop in season 2 and instead just got worse. It was incredibly irritating that any time you began to connect with the protagonist after episodes upon episodes of him “growing,” you’d be immediately pulled out of that because they had to write in the same recycled pervert joke that made him weird and gross. The first few of these jokes in S1 were funny, sure, because it still had ties to him being new to a reincarnated life. When you use these jokes for the 100th time when the character is now 10+ years older, it’s just lame.

For fans of animes like the Seven deadly sins, you’d probably love this one, as it feels like it’s written basically the same. For anyone that was pulled in by S1’s freshness and novelty, leave it at the first 10 or so episodes then move on and pretend that’s all this series has.
