The Night Beyond The Tricornered Window is undoubtedly my favorite BL anime. No offense on fans of other BLs, of course. But Tricornered Window is just so good, it has horror, mystery, and boy the fanservice is just right for me. (After finishing the anime, make sure that you read the manga! The anime may feel a bit rushed, and the manga would let you understand the plot a lot better.

Mikado Kousuke is the protagonist, he's a bookstore clerk who is a literal package. He's cool, cute, shy, brave, hot, and if you read the manga, then you'd see just how much of a husband ... material he is. (He makes many, 'interesting' faces while exorcising, 10/10 very erotic.)

Hiyakawa Rihito is Mikado's love interest. You may not like him during the early episodes, but when you reach the end of the series, you'd see that he's the softest boy that we all need to protect.

Oh yeah, they did all sort of exorcising stuff, tho I would say that the anime give off a different vibe compared to the manga. The anime is more, mysterious, sexual tension, and tense. The manga? Oh, boi, the comedy, extra chapters, and their slow and steady love development makes me feel all sorts of things. Lol, I just realized that I've been talking about the manga more than the anime. But yeah pls read it. Best site to read it is on MangaGo.

Okay, now please let me rant. I'm baffled when I saw that 6.4 rating at the time when I'm rating this. Most people that gave those low ratings said that they didn't expect this to be BL-ey, they were only expecting a typical mystery anime. Like tf??? Please ignore those reviews, Sankaku Mado No Sotogawa Wa Yoru is very astounding and unique.

For those that aren't happy cuz this is a BL, do you not read the genre of this anime? Like, imagine if I give Tomoe a 2/10 rating because it's scary, even though it's a horror anime. Of course, my rating shouldn't be valid, right?

This anime is a new thing in the BL community, most BL just focus on the romance, sappy stuff, and fap material. I do think that Tricornered Window deserves at least an 8/10 rating. And I don't wanna hear y'all saying that my review sucks, I know it is.

As a fan of the manga who loves it very, very much, I'm honestly rather disappointed by the adaptation. Yes, only 4 episodes have aired, so I am hoping my enjoyment will increase since I know the plot will eventually pick up.

Story: 8
Obviously I'm biased because I read the manga so I appreciate the plot more than others and know what is to come. The general premise as mentioned by others is that two guys go around and do exorcisms and are also in the process of trying to help a detective solve a long-running murder case. There is a large element of BL in ... the way the exorcisms are conducted, and in how submissive Mikado is to Hiyakawa in all elements of their "relationship". I admit that I myself wasn't too into the story around this part of the manga and didn't really know what direction the plot was going in, but I know very well it will get better, thus why I give a generous 8. I will update if I don't feel the anime does the entire story justice.

Honestly, was expecting a lot better. I loved the art in the manga and the anime just does not cut it. It seems cheap and just...off in a way. I hate to be so critical but I'm just so disappointed. The creepy, dark moments in the manga are drawn beautifully but the anime is just not as effective.

Sound: 8
Nothing major to say, I overall think the OST is quite good and fits the tone very well. Definitely a highlight of the anime. Not too big of a fan of the opening, but I think the ending is great. Really good choice of voice actors too.

Character: 6.5
At this point of the anime, the two leads definitely don't seem too remarkable. I don't know what it is about the anime, but I don't enjoy Hiyakwa's character as much as in the manga. He comes off as controlling, creepy, and a little too weird. Mikado is very submissive and sometimes it's a little ridiculous to see how easily he goes along with what Hiyakawa says. I know that their characters will become better once their backstories are delved into, and I really hope the anime does a good job on that.

Enjoyment: 8
I'm generous with this because seeing it animated makes me happy nonetheless, but man do I wish it were better executed. My main issue is the pacing being wayyy too fast. I get that they only have 12 episodes but it's clear that they want to cram all 10 volumes into the season and I just don't think it's working that well. I think the characters need more time to expand upon their chemistry together and to flesh out the world in general. It just feels like you're thrust right into it all and there's just one thing after another happening so fast. But, it is still entertaining and interesting to watch. If I was unaware of the story, I would be quite curious to see what is going to happen next.

Overall: 7
If more time, care, and money were put into the anime, I feel like it could have been soooo much better than what we got. It's decent overall and it's nice to have a BL anime that has an interesting supernatural plot. But...it genuinely feels lacking. I hope that it will become better as it goes on, and will for sure update this review if I believe it does. Or if it gets worse. In general, at this point I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone unless you've read the manga or just enjoy watching any and all types of BL.

The lack of information in the beggining makes it confusing, but makes you empathize better with one of the main character.

Over all, most of the episodes it's you trying to pull together all the information they are giving and trying to understand what the hell is going on, wich makes it tough to watch.

Even so it all comes together in the last episodes, making this anime very good, not only because by then you'll understand what is happening, but because if you analise it from the psicological and social part of it, and you empathize with the characters you'll understand what mental illness would look ... like if it could be used as something dangerous

This anime starts out... weird. Somehow even though it was very weird it captivated me and somehow made me keep watching it. To be honest i was a bit shocked after some things turned almost 'BL'. (I was not expecting that, i thought it would just be a detective kind of story.)

Due to that suprising fact it made me keep watching even more and fortunately after a weak start of the anime, it made me super interested in continueing to watch. The lore behind this was more than expected, even some small plot twists already.

I certainly can understand if someone dislikes these tyoes of anime's ... but i recommend you watch atleast 5 episodes before you create a conclusion or review.

I think the story is really good even though the anime did not have a good start or introduction. The relationship between the characters are quiestionable but from someone with experience in toxic relationships it was also very interesting to see things from an outsiders perspective. Many people do not understand my take but the relationship the main duo have actually pulled on some of my heart strings and it was somehow very relatable what happens between them.

I was about to dump this anime due to the artstyle being mediocre and me not understanding how a weird encounter can be a good story; but i gave it a chance and i can not wait till the next episodes come out, really.

I don't write many reviews but after seeing hoe people already had formed a solid opinion after only 4 episodes i decided i had to chip in my opinion.

It is definitly a recommendation if you can see it from a comedy mystery side instead of watching it very seriously. The graphics may be lower than your run-off-the-mill anime blockbuster, but it is the lore and the story that counts.

I think it is a very creative story and a very creative concept. It makes me laugh every episode.

Minor spoilers for the show.

Although I would definitely agree that the manga is better than the anime, the anime has its own charm, and it’s a nice addition to the manga, where you can see the characters move around (and in color). The anime also makes certain scenes clearer, and certain dialogue moments more understandable as to who’s talking, which makes their emotional weight stronger. There’s also at least one added scene early on that makes a character’s actions more regular than random, as they are in the manga. The music is also pretty, and the Japanese VAs all did a good job.

The anime is ... quite accurate, though the show compressed the story a great deal in an attempt to fit 10 tankobon into 12 episodes, and though it’s not the most complex of stories (though it IS complex), that’s a lot of material to squish into that few 20ish-minute episodes, with time given to OPs and EDs every episode. Chapters are frequently chopped up and stuck together in ways that save time while getting the meat of the chapter on-screen. At least five chapters are almost if not entirely cut. It’s not the greatest loss, though one was a nice shippy chapter that would have been appropriate for a BL-marked anime that people question the reasoning for marking as BL. There’s another early chapter that’s massively cut in a way that makes it not make sense to someone who hasn’t read the manga.

In many ways the anime art feels like a visual downgrade from the manga art, which is by and large better. Overall the entire cast is better looking in the manga.

There are some nice things the anime does, visually. In the ED, there’s a moment that makes it appear through a creative transition as if Hiyakawa has dissolving wings, which is pretty neat. And there are little story spoilers in the OP visuals, which is a nice touch, though not something I think someone unfamiliar with the manga or who hasn’t seen the show once already would recognize. And without the manga for comparison, the show’s not bad looking. The animation is pretty, by and large, fluid, and the style’s decent.

On its own, this is still the same story by and large as what’s in the manga, and it’s a good story, with great characters, and decent art. The supernatural world setup is interesting, and the reflections on cults, brainwashing, child abuse, neglect, and dealing with childhood trauma as an adult are solid. There’s also a strong theme that without communication (and consent), things we do to purportedly protect other people can be harmful not only to those we seek to protect, but also to ourselves. There are a lot of BL innuendos rather than just sex you’d find in other series, though there’s a lot of touching and specific body language (and the innuendos get very specific).

The central character relationship is compelling, particularly if you’re into dubcon, though the manga’s relatively strong focus on talking about consent kind of got lost in adaptation, I guess (it’s still there, kind of, and the dynamic fluctuates with who holds the reins). Around them are an array of neat characters and relationships, and they all get development over the course of the story (Sakaki is one of my favorite characters). The pro-cop stuff is still there, which is a bit disappointing, but the story’s also kind of ambiguous in places and focuses a bit on restorative justice, so… win-win I guess? There’s also a bit of humor throughout, and it increases as the story goes.

All in all, it’s a solid short BL supernatural story with some horror elements (I don’t go for horror at all and I was largely fine) and some fun character dynamics and development, with some great narrative themes. I would still suggest reading the manga first. It’s also short, and even better, enjoyment-wise (also the BL aspect is more obvious).

Being on the second-to-last episode of the series I decided to write a review (first time in years lol) because I'm sad how mediocre the average score is for this anime.

I think the story is interesting, especially if you're into the recent uptake in demon-related action stories that are very popular right now (I totally am)! Although this is not about demons per-say, it belongs to a similar genre that's more dependent on psychological manipulation and the human soul/body and stuff. I think all of the characters are interesting and I think the tension between the two mains is interesting, actually I wish this was ... a longer series so we could see the character development unfold more with the whole cast! They have thought-out and unique backgrounds and personalities and every one of them helps drive the story forward. They all seem to have their purpose for the plot, and I find that a sign of a good show. The plot itself is creepy and cool, a little misleading at times but in the "damn a cliffhanger" kind of way.

I find the innuendo really amusing, but don't be misled into thinking that is somehow the entire shtick of the show because it isn't at all! It's just a fun and silly addition, and I'm thankful how this anime isn't making LGBTQ+ innuendo into some harmful outdated joke. It's genuinely silly and between two characters who *maybe* are into each other.

I don't have much an opinion on art and sound. Although I watch a decent amount of anime I don't have any professional takes there. The OP is catchy, the art style is good and dynamic and that's really all I ask for. One character is plain looking but that's part of his twisted inner dialogue, and it plays well with the traditionally cuter character who is a little plain in his personality. No qualms there.

All in all I agree with people calling this show under rated! If I were you I'd give it a go and watch a few episodes in a row before judging it or trusting the average score here (currently a low 6). Depending on how the final episode wraps up I'd say it could go for a second season!

I have not read the original story, so on that end I can't say if it's rushed or not. In my opinion, the plot being a little rushed in the beginning of any anime depends on the genre and what year it comes out. I don't think a 12 ep anime has the leisure to give us full backgrounds on deep stories and worlds the same way a 24 ep one does/the original manga does. I do not rate anime I have not nearly or completely finished, and I tend to rate anime higher than the average (I rarely rate anything "bad" or under because if I think it is bad I just stop watching it).

For me, it's really good, I don't really mind the other stuff such as the animation, since the CG is kinda off, like in eps 2? but the plot saves it, some people might not enjoy their chemistry right now, but I think they are perfect.

I'm also invested in the supernatural part of the show and of course, in our main characters, I like them in a way that they give me butterflies, and when you have that kind of feeling it's not good, the guy (yellow-haired) is a walking red flag!!!, but what's new? I love red ahahahahahah, I also like the mood ... of the animation, it is very gloomy and the colors aren't saturated, I'm really invested to see them solve this stuff in the next episodes, I just like them, the yellow-haired guy is a wolf in a sheep clothing and Mikado kun is so innocent, man I'm a sucker for that dynamics, I just hope we can have a season 2, I'm also planning to read the manga. I just hope that my level of excitement won't be affected after reading it, thanks.

My first impression of this anime was that it had to have originated as some sort of Mob Psycho 100 fanfiction. The similarities between Hiyakawa and the character of Reigen from Mob Psycho are what originally had me making this comparison. Character-design-wise, both Hiyakawa and Reigen have light-colored hair and wear gray-colored suits and both are professional “psychics,” though Reigen lacks the actual abilities Hiyakawa has. There was even a scene in The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window where another character criticizes Hiyakawa’s “fake” polished look, pointing out his cheap suit and haircut to belittle him. If I’m recalling correctly, a similar scene happened between ... Reigen and a side character in Mob Psycho.

Despite its similarities, The Night Beyond the Tricolored Window does hold its own when it comes to the actual story. The exorcisms and cleansings the main characters go on have some seriously creepy visuals that warrant this anime’s horror tag, and as the series progresses the two begin uncovering a chain of curses that all seem tied to one person and the real plot begins.

Hiyakawa and Mikado also have a budding relationship that shifts from some rather cringe sex jokes in the first few episodes of the show to the two of them having to trust each other with their spiritual health and help each other to heal their past traumas.

I didn’t originally have very high hopes for this anime, but it managed to pleasantly surprise me. Ultimately, I rated this anime a 7/10.

The Night Before the Tricornered Window Destiny was an extremely pleasant surprise. I am a big fan of BL anime, and went into this not expecting very much from the story or characters. A lot of BL anime are watered down yaoi, and tend to have a very weak story that mostly hinges upon angst between the main characters.

This show was an exception to that generalization. The story is refreshing and unique, centering on the occult and mediums and the powers they possess. The entire cast is well done and well-rounded, making the show as well as the ending feel fulfilling and worthwhile.

Yes, ... there are some BL moments, mostly in the beginning. And while the first episode really lays the BL on thick, the show and the main characters really are more about bonding and understanding each other's character, rather than lust or attraction. It was really very refreshing.

The animation style was definitely a call-back to older anime, and had a particularly 90's feel to it. It wasn't low-budget, but it didn't have any of the really stunning animation that the big budget shows get. That being said, I thought the animation was consistent and didn't take away from the story at all.

Overall, I think this show deserves a much higher rating. The story is very interesting and has a great ending, and the characters are really enjoyable to watch. I would highly recommend this show, especially to BL fans as it has the elements but uses them in a more fulfilling way than other shows!

Sankaku is a story about 2 individuals with some bl elements here and there. That what intrigued me at first, the bl tag, in the end it wasn’t a romance. But it was still a pleasant story with some problems

Story:
A horror bl ? Count me in ! That said the story is quite nice to follow but around the end we had pacing problems. Things were going too quick for their own good. We also had many flashbacks which made things hard to follow. The ghost stuff was also kinda difficult to understand in addition to flashbacks. The story was too complex ... for its own good. The end felt rushed because we had very little to catch up with the story after all of those flashbacks.

Art:
Damn that’s rough. The art is alright at the start but as the episodes continued the art was getting worse. It’s a shame because they had a lot of interesting ideas in terms of presentation, especially at the end. It’s also disappointing because they had a very nice horror feel to it but with this janky art it wasn’t that fear inducing. Sad to see that this small adaptation don’t get a lot of care.

Sound:
A nice cast overall and I have to say that Hatano-san did a fantastic job dubbing Hiyakawa. He was very in character, with a creepy/unsettling thing to his voice. The ops and ends were awesome. People put a lot of care in the sound aspect of this anime.

Characters:
Finally a developped female character in a bl ! That said, I really liked the characters. Mikado was a bit flat at the start but evolved into a more pleasant character. Hiyakawa is far from being a cliché, never seen such unique personality. Speaking of our two male leads, I was afraid at first that their relationship would end up toxic, seeing how mikado was like the puppy of Hiyakawa. Gladly that changed for the best, each one relaying on the other.

Enjoyement:
I must say I laughed. There were a lot of scenes that looked like they belonged to a more steamy yaoi that were played for comedy. It looked like that one corset scene in Black butler. I also enjoyed a lot the horror elements in there (especially Erika's powers).

Overall:
One thing it lacks is a good animation, so if you're interested and don't mind the look of it I would say go for it. They did a nice anime but they could have made a great one.

Honestly probably gonna end up being one of my favorites and not cause it's a BL but even if it wasn't, story is genuinely interesting. The supernatural and horror elements blew me away like some parts actually were somewhat scary too, but I am also just a huge pussy so its not hard but still. Honestly did not expect the animation to be this good too, honestly I really love the plot and the mystery it unraveled. It did actually entertain me and does need more recognition because the characters are likeable. I loved Erica and her bodyguard like yassss serve girlboss. Honestly all the ... supernatural elements were so cool to see, I love this series but idk I want to see more but I'm gonna be totally honest, did not get like 1/4 of the shit that was happening but I will read the manga and see how good it is.

personally, i really liked the show. i gave it a watched since i heard it was BL and there isn't a lot of BL materials out there so i gotta at least try to see what this was all about.

i went into the show for the BL but i stayed for the plot and the characters. i was so invested with the show i managed to finished it in a day. ngl i was a lil "flustered", for a lack of better words, when they were a lil bit erotic with ... the exorcisms and stuff. but i got over it since I've seen much more cringed moments in other shows.

i didn't expect jump scares as well although i should've expected since this has a supernatural and ghost plotline and the jump scares got me most of the time haha. i loved every character especially erika-chan. they were really great in introducing every characters and narrating their stories. everyone was very likeable (but i think i love midako a lil bit more XD)

i did get a lil bit emo from show but that just goes to show that they did a great job in making you feel for the characters. they really made me tear up a bit haha

i loved that they didn't really focus on romance of the two (they barely showed any but it was fine) and more on the development of the characters and their relationship with the other characters in the show.

the animation is pretty decent. the op is bop. i loved it so much it's been stuck in my brain.

overall, i loved it. and you should give it a watch. its a short series so you'll probably finish it in half a day if you're into the show.

Story/characters:

One disclaimer I will lay out from the get-go is this anime is in essence a yaoi series. If you are adamant about not watching such things then turn away. However, if you can look beyond that fact what you will get is an anime with a good storyline, gripping mystery and a level of character development that is not often seen in most conventional anime.

These great developments are not immediately apparent in the first few episodes though as the show goes out of its way to showcase its two main male lovers. To me that is not a bad thing (outside the crazy dialogue) ... but what I did find disturbing was the abusive relationship dynamics between this pairing. It makes for difficult viewing as it becomes abundantly clear early on that one of the men is a control freak who treats his partner like a possession and has massive jealously issues. The fact there are supernatural elements thrown in only fuels an extra dimension to this abuse.

Yes, it is that bad and makes for difficult viewing but if you persevere, then you will be rewarded as a good explanation is provided as to why this relationship dynamic came about. I don’t want to spoil by explaining the details conveyed as it forms an integral part of the story narrative suffice to say I found it to be convincing.

This type of relationship building is not all the show has to offer though as this anime is thick with supernatural activity. The cases start small with some strange phenomenon that the men encounter. Using their different abilities in creative ways, the cases are solved and we slowly learn about various paranormal activities that go on. What is more, our main duo are not the only people with special powers as we are soon introduced to other characters who have an affinity for special powers.

What motives these people have and what they represent form part of the mystery early on and it is this factor that helps you overlook the troubling Mikado/Rihita relationship. As we learn more about these secondary characters the mystery that unfolds only becomes deeper as a bigger curse that afflicts more people becomes the driver of this story.

It is at this point when the story reaches its element as not only do we learn the fundamental dynamics of our yaoi pairing but we also come to understand the weaknesses and shortcomings of other major characters. The anime then becomes a story of personal discovery as most of the cast attempts to overcome the various demons that plague them. If you are a fan of physiological thrillers then the final segment of Tricornered Window will be the most satisfying part of the series but even if that is not your thing so long as you like mysteries then you are likely to find the final episodes gripping affairs.

The climax and ending delivered is also satisfying as it provides good closure and nothing is left hanging. More importantly, many of the characters have grown a healthier outlook on life especially when it comes to Mikado and Rihito. The fact the abuser has overcome his massive insecurities is a major relief but what was also very satisfying is how the other party has developed into someone who is stronger and less mentally frail. I suppose if you are a lover of romance (who likes all type of love) then this type of ending would also be very wholesome.

Animation/music:

I never saw the manga but get the sense the animation style draws heavily from it. The reason I mention this is because I was not the biggest fan of the style but at the same time if the studio is being faithful to the original manga artwork then I have a hard time to criticise it. I will say there are numerous scenes when the detail was lost in the character models which also impacted in some key scenes. The standard of animation may not be the best around but it does a good enough job to convey the mood of most horror scenes.

The animation sequences for the opening and ending sequences are also of a similar standard i.e. nothing to write home about. I didn’t think the relatively upbeat opening "Saika" by Frederic was the most suitable song to use given the nature of the series although the sombre ending “Breakers" by Wataru Hatano was not only superior but fit the theme of the show better.

Summary:

At its core Tricornered Window is a yaoi series but beyond the love story that forms the centrepiece of the anime there lies a series with good supernatural/mystery elements that is likely to garner the interests of a much wider audience. The fact I could get over the opening episodes even with the obvious abusive relationship dynamics is testament to how strong the mystery element pulled me in.

If you can get over this initial hurdle what you will get is strong character development as we explore the past background of most of the major players in this series. We may not like it but we will come to understand why the people act the way they do and what weaknesses they have that compels them to act in often irrational ways.

It this deep dive into the various character mindsets that means this series will be most appealing to those who like their anime steeped in psychological dialogue. Still there is enough mystery to be had that even those who like those elements will get good mileage out of Tricornered Window. If there is one regret I had over this show it is that – and this is unfortunate – it is the thought that if the main pairing where heterosexuals or even yuri then this show would likely have been received more favourably in the anime community.

Story 7 – The early paranormal cases in the story do a good job in creating intrigue and is the hook that keeps you going despite the questionable relationship but as the anime progresses the stakes naturally increase elevating the drama both from the story and character dynamics involved. The ending is solid as all the loose ends are covered to a satisfactory degree.

Characters 8 – Gets off to a very shaky start as not only are some of the pick-up lines comically bad but the relationship dynamics are highly suspect. Fortunately, this apparent shortcoming is addressed properly and the inherent weaknesses in the characters personalities become the main fuel that guides the story narrative. The developments do not stop with the main pairing though as time is taken to explain the motives and shortcomings of the secondary characters and antagonist. There are no two-dimensional characters in this series.

Animation/music 6 – The biggest weakness in this show as there are numerous moments when the quality of animation does dip and the character modelling loses detail. This even occurs during key moments. The animation sequences for the opening and ending is only so-so and I felt the opening song did not suit the tone of the series although the ending piece was a better effort.

Overall 7.5 – The biggest pain points this series has are found in the opening acts when you need to endure some questionable relationship dynamics. This can easily put people off. Despite this, there are good enough mystery moments to keep you engaged and when the backgrounds of our protagonists are explored in detail that is the moment when Tricornered Window takes a turn for the better. It is here when reaches the series reaches zenith and all the drama is resolved once and for all. If you are fan of supernatural mysteries or physiological thrillers then I would recommend this to you.

The Night Beyond The Tricornered Window is an anime that left a sweet and sour aftertaste as I finished watching it.
I went into it without knowing what I would expect and left thinking that it is, possibly, to this day, one of the animes with the best plot I’ve ever had the honor to enjoy.
For those of you that are into psychology, trauma and everything in between, The Night Beyond The Tricornered Window is a masterful representation of what a “core trauma” is, and what a traumatic event can cause to a young mind that is still in the making.
It’s a journey ... that shows you what healing looks like, how ugly it can be, how some wounds never fade nor heal, and can possibly turn into what we would normally call “evil”.
Furthermore, this anime mixes an accurate scientific knowledge of human psychology with elements of folklore, horror and fantasy: what hatred, regret, fear and other similar negative feelings can do to a person when brooded for too long is skillfully represented and transposed into the world of evil spirits and folklore, making these two dimensions overlap in a stunning way.
My favorite character of the entire series has to be Hiyakawa! The psychology behind this character is incredibly well written.

I genuinely don’t get why this anime has such a mid-low rating on MAL. Not all BLs are completely plotless - but, apart from this personal opinion, it’s really hard for me even to consider The Night Beyond The Tricornered Windo a BL product. I mean, sure, the sexually explicit jokes and puns are thrown here and there, once in a while, in order to clearly appease to an audience that got into this anime purely for the BL part - they are definitely more frequent in the first two/three episodes. But, apart from this, it’s just a masterfully written story, with a very slight undertone of boy’s love. And that’s also why it’s so good: the mangaka does a great job at making it subtle, not pushing it to our faces constantly, because the core of the manga/show really is somewhere else. That is, as a matter of fact, great story-telling and just shows how skillful the author is.

It gets a 8 from me only because of its graphics. The manga definitely did a better job with the aesthetics.
But, yes, I would definitely recommend you to watch this anime!

I am really surprised that this anime doesn't have a higher rating. I thought it will atleast be 7.12 or around that.

Where do I start? Well this anime reminded me a little of Ghost hunt, though Ghost Hunt gave me more enjoyment but that's what this anime reminded me of but in a different way, it feels like an original story and it didn't bore me like the Yakumo anime did mainly because of the characters in this story and not just the 2 Main characters.

CHARACTERS:-I gotta say, I love the arcs of all the characters. We have 2 main main characters while ... other 4 also get plenty of screen time with their own arcs and tie ins. Keita is absolutely my favourite!!! and I absolutely love what they did with Hiura Erika seriously love her whole thing so much!!

Rihito:At first, Rihito(The blonde MC) kinda worried me a little. I thought I wouldn't like this anime because of him and he is the reason that the anime has such a low score but I am glad I continued the anime and I am happy to say that we really understand why he is the way he is and I love how the people he meets change him and help him. Our protagonist isn't the only one going through stuff, it's all of them and they band together and become a team.

Mikado:Our protagonist is seriously one of the best MC growths I got to watch. I felt so proud to see him be who he is. It's just so satisfying. Though I wish there were more than 12 eps for him to grow more surer of himself, it still works. I just wish there were more cases to solve before the main part of the story kicks in.

STORY:-This is more of an investigation, friendship, family, supernatural (ghosts, powers like people who can see ghost, purify them, use them etc) story and I absolutely love it.
Honestly I ended up bingewatching the first 8 eps and then finished the rest the next day (that's only because I had to study for an exam). That's how interesting the story is though we can guess kinda what happens but the whole thing how they showed it to us is so interesting.

Now for the BL part:- Everyone assumes they are together and in love and Rihito calls Mikado 'His Destiny' but there really isn't much romance in this. It's more of their bond slowly growing as the episodes go on and when they first met they felt drawn to one another(Mikado finally finding someone like him and Rihito finding his destiny in his words).
They are still at the budding stage by the end of the anime and we know they will end up together when the time is right. What is important is that they are important to one another. Not gonna spoil anything trust me they are good together and it's by choice.Nothing mature like I expected from watching the beginning eps.

Art:- Art is good. Like I said the way everything is shown/drawn/animated is just so good. The colours used, the designs but there are definitely more better ones out there and all I will say that no faults in the Art department.

Sound:- I didn't like the OP much. It didn't resonate with the tone of the anime but the ED song definitely did so check that out and other bg musics are all good.

Overall:- So all in all definitely give this one a try. Nothing silly happens and nothing is dumbed down for the viewers. If this story had a few more episodes it really could have gone somewhere. All it needs is more depth and bonding between the characters but what we got is pretty good too. So 8/10 from me.

It took me 3 weeks to finish this anime. To be honest, the begging was a little boring, but it starts to be good after the fourth episode.

Well, first of aff, I think that the supernatural powers could be better explained. At least for me, it was confusing to understand how they worked. I didn't read the manga, but it gets very clear for me how it was rushed. I wish it could had more episodes. The anime isn't focus on romance, but you know that a relationship exists between the principal characters, it's obvious that they don't see each other like just friends. ... So if you wanna see romance, I don't recomend this anime for you. Actually, the focus is on the supernatural events that happen in the roll of the story and the past of Mikado.

I really liked the animation, that is surprisingly good for a BL. In general, animes like this have a very low budget, so this affects the animation like 90% of times. It has elements of 3D and 2D animations, that I particularly don't like, but on this anime, it worked. The soundtrack it's ok, but it's not surprising. The highlight is the opening's song that I really liked a lot.

The strong point for me, is the characters development. I think it was awnsome to see how they evolved throughout history, specially Mikado and a character called Sakaki, my favorite, by the way.

Anyway, it's a good anime, after all. The plot it's ok too. If you wanted to see a BL that doesn't has focus on romance, go ahead.
